Ride Warrior?

Featured Replies

How long has the "Ride Warrior" slogan been used? I honestly had thought it was a recent Cedar Fair invention that had really come to light after the Paramount purchase. But, while cruising through eBay, I found a shirt that made me believe otherwise:

So the Ride Warrior promotion has been around since Paramount, and on top of that, since King Cobra? Surprised me!

Interesting find. That shirt couldn't have been around more than a season or two with both Flight of Fear and King Cobra listed. For some reason I thought KC was closed before FoF was put in.

Actually, it stood there not operating for quite some time in 02, if not the entire season. RCDB is a fine database, but it is not infallible....

Then again, neither am I...I still remember a big blue B and M in Sandusky....tallest one they ever (didn't) built...

Maybe you were just hoping it would be a B and M, not an Intamin... ohmy.gif

Edit: Fixed poor English. Sorry!

Actually, at that park, more than anything, I'd be hoping for a re-creation of the Cedar Point Cyclone, probably by The Gravity Group (did I just say that?)

Who is your favorite Wood Coater Designer? Not GG I take it?

Who? Harry Traver or better yet Prior and Church...followed by John Miller. None of them have designed much lately, sad to say...

Mike Graham is a good friend, so a bit of ribbing...

OK current design companies?

I also adored Dennis McNulty's work at CCI.

Of the work currently done in wooden coaster design, I'd have to say I am most impressed with INTAMIN. Yes, INTAMIN.

That being said, I'd still rather ride a good John Miller, Dennis McNulty or Prior and Church any day...and Loof...can't forget Loof...nor Carl Phare. Or Ed Vettel...oh, just stop me now! :) (Did I mention Curtis Summers? Or William Cobb? Or Charlie Dinn? Or John Allen? Herb Schmeck?....I really need to stop)

I disagree with your first statement but agree with your last :D

I didn't even know Intamun made wooden coasters...

Depends on what you require of a roller coaster to consider it "wooden."

Is a wood coaster defined by the material it's made of, or by the elements it contains?

If smooth-as-glass, elevator-lift, laser-cut, snap-into-place roller coasters that happen to be made of fallen trees count as wooden coasters, than yes, they make wooden coasters. If a wooden coaster has to have a little trashing and wildness, built on-site by skilled craftsmen who use good old fashioned elbow grease to construct incredible (but intrinsically imperfect) transportation devices, then no, Intamin does not do that.

Either way, they appear to be a pioneer of new technologies yet again...

They have for some time. Ever hear of American Eagle? :)

Then there's the more recent ones (that often show Stengel as the designer...he is also credited with Son of Beast).

Terpy, who knows a thing or two sometimes...

GYK, what ARE you talking about? They didn't do ONLY pre-fab:

Intamin and wooden? Ever heard of El Toro?

I have heard of El Toro and Colossus. Didn't know they were Intamins though.
