I was just wondering if anyone remembered the old teaser commercials for Raptor and Mantis in 1994 and 1996 respectfully just before the rides opened? The one for Raptor showed a teenaged boy running through the woods (or riding his bike, cannot remember exactly) fleeing from a raptor and then appearing to be captured by the raptor, then you saw the logo, " Raptor rules the sky, coming this summer to Cedar Point. " The Mantis ad showed a smart alecky kid laughing and walking around in the grass. As he was about to step on a mantis, you heard the announcer say" Ever wonder why you were told never to step on a mantis? " Then you heard the kid screaming and the announcer continued " Find out this summer at Cedar Point." I would also be eternally greatful to any of you if you could find one or both of those commercials. I have looked all over Youtube and Google and no luck.

Millennium Force Promo

Looking at the Raptor promo, it's amazing how far the animation has come. That looked like the original Disney Coaster game!

I cannot say I have ever seen the Mantis one, I have however watched the Raptor one plenty of times. It is very amazing to see how far animation has come. In the Raptor video the track looked so bland and bleak, lacking a lot of detail. Now look what we have, No Limits, RCT2, and other programs that can make you feel like you are right there on the ride. I love searching Youtube and looking up old commercials, CoasterFanatics.com has a lot of old commercials from many different parks.

Thanks for checking. No, I've seen the Raptor promo you posted but that is not the ad I am talking about. This was a television commercial probably about 30 seconds long which showed a kid being chased in the woods by a raptor and appearing to be captured by its claws before an announcer says, " Raptor rules the sky. This summer at Cedar Point. " These ads were aired in the Central Ohio area in April and May, 1994 just before Raptor opened to the public.

I hate to break it to you buddy, but we are old (in years - although we both know how to enjoy life like kids at times also).

Your question just struck me funny considering how many of the posters on these forums weren't alive when Raptor opened. Also, many of those that were alive were not old enough for coasters, so many probably haven't seen the commercials.

I have the VHS too! Tho it actually belongs to my dad and the video used to give me nightmares when I was a kid, lol.

Millennium Force's promo ad is one of my favorites of all time. I love the music and logo used throughout the promo. It really showed how fantastic the ride would be.

Watching the Raptor ad is amazing, just to see the older animation. The interviews with all the different people are cool too. The promos now seem to lack the originality that these two had. Now it seems there is just an announcement and a POV.

I think the Millenium Force and Raptor promos are pretty cool.

There was a Raptor commercial showing the Mill Race beneath a Tree - I think the Mill Race was being chopped-up - then the Raptor appears on top of the tree. I saw this commercial in a movie theater.

I cant wait for the Gate Keepers! GK ( Am I the first to do that?) sounds/ looks so cool! It will take me a few years to ride it though...
