JubJester
^ Yes it was. it was right around the area the festhaus is currently.
kingsislandfan1972
It should of never been removed because it would fit in perfectly for OktoberFest.
The Interpreter
There were reasons it was removed. The park did what was wise.
DontWantToWait42mar0
I honestly think they should put a ride like this in the following years before the next BIG coaster. Like Ricochet at Carowinds. But Backlot Stunt Coaster is there already, and it's fantastic.

The Interpreter
But, see Kings Dominion. Backlot? Check. Ricochet? Check. They are VERY different rides. Backlot is not a mousey.
JubJester
^Forgot about that. A ride like Ricochet would be a nice addition in OktoberFest.

KIBeast
I really enjoyed the Bavarian Beetle as a kid myself. I want to say that I think I rode it before The Racer. Something about The Racer terrified me whereas BB did not. It was a fun ride, as much as I can remember, which is very little. For the most part, I liked the downward spiral the best.
freaks76
I'd say terp can answer this..... Was BB a average Galaxi-type ride?
The Interpreter
It was a standard Galaxi. Indiana Beach had an identical example until this year/past season. It was removed before the 2014 season. Sylvan Beach in New York still has one.
freaks76
^Got to ride one. Myrtle Beach Pavilion.
The Interpreter
Indeed. That one used to be at Kings Dominion, too.
freaks76
Wasn't there some kind of accident on it at KD? I almost forgot about my trip to MBP. Had my first coaster marathon there. Corkscrew. I really enjoyed that park. It's a shame it fell by the wayside. Nice little park.
The Interpreter
It was doing really well when it closed. Combination of Hard Rock Park fear and developer greed. Turned out decision to close was folly.
freaks76
Isn't there an apartment complex there now? I don't even know if there's a park in Myrtle Beach anymore. Seems to me I was at a smaller park when I was last there, but it wasn't very big, no coasters. More like a county fair.
dtk1378
They have a lot of the former Myrtle Beach Pavilion flat rides over at Broadway at the Beach. None of the coasters went with it though, not sure on where they ended up.

I also think it came down before the park closed. I assume since the trains for Hurricane was used on SOB, it got demolished. I don't know about their Galaxi. The Interpreter
The other park you remember is Family Kingdom, home of the Swamp Fox. Corkscrew did not go to Mexico. It went to Bogata, Columbia after the 1999 season. Galaxi was closed in 1997 and, it is widely believed, was scrapped at that time. Hurricane was destroyed. Mad Mouse and Little Eagle both went to the now defunct NASCAR SpeedPark in Myrtle Beach, which closed in April, and are thought to be in storage. It will soon be ten years since Pavilion closed. That's hard to believe. 2006 was its last season.
NoChickens
Such a gem. I mean Terpy, not the rides in question. As he approaches 50,000 posts, and can be frustrating as heck, a true asset for this site.

freaks76
Yep, I remember that, now. I think it went around the track twice, faster the second time.
The Interpreter
A lot of shorter kiddie coasters do that. Rewards the little ones for patiently waiting so long, while, paradoxically, lengthening their wait!
Imperial79
I think people would love a ride like that at Kings Island!
