Snowman
Does any of the "in the know" insiders that post here have any idea if the park has, or plans to replace the old orange/red head cushions on Delirium? Whenever my wife and I were in the load que with our assigned number, we'd watch as the ride came to a stop hoping our seats had the newer black head rests instead of the dirty, stained orange ones. I'm sure the black ones are in the exact same shape, it's just a mental thing. You know, out of sight, out of mind. Plus, I'm thinking the black seats go faster than the orange ones! rotag
your supposed to go to your assigned seat.thats what causes people uncertianty about where to dit when others bum-rush to a seat of there choice instead (which also causes longer load times). if your that much of a germaphobe, bring a bottle of hand sanitizer. EDIT: after reading this, it came off a little crude. but i mean it in the nicest way. for advice purposes.

bkroz
This may be entirely incorrect (or perhaps I'm just amalgamating this story with Kings Dominion's Drop Zone and Volcano), but I had heard that some of the seats on Delirium were old seats from The Crypt after the latter's front row was removed. Not sure why that would even be practical, but perhaps some of the seats on Delirium were more worn out than the ones from its indoor, weather-proof cousin? Again, that may be entirely incorrect and I'm absolutely sure someone here can correct me.

The black seats are faster 'cause they don't have all that gunk to slow them down!!! I really didn't think I needed to add a smiley emotocon, thanks for the defense. Rotag, of course I sit in my assigned seat. I'm just bummed when I get an orange one. Unless there's a protein spill, which really blows after a long wait in line. AZ Kinda Guy
Slowly but surely, all the restraints are being recovered. As in, being sent out to an outside company and having the old padding stripped off and new padding put on. Somewhere to the tune of around 7-10 each year. This started about three years ago. There are no Tomb Raider restraints on the ride yet. However, the row of seats no longer on Tomb Raider are being used for scrap parts for Delirium seats. Delirium was such a pretty ride when it opened. Now? Not so much.

frisbeefan
Delirium was such a pretty ride when it opened. Now? Not so much. It was a great looking ride. Hopefully it will return to some of it's former glory.

bkroz
One thing that I'd really love during an "off" off season (when there aren't any big capital rides built) would be to renovate the park's lighting. Coney Mall could be really a beautiful place if the lighting on the rides, games, and paths was more interactive and bright and spectacular. If the remaining three sides of the Eiffel Tower got the same treatment as the Starlight-facing side, it would be beautiful. The Fountains, too, seem to go from yellow to pink to blue, and lack the more choreographed, appealing hues that I remember them having. None of the roller coasters are lit well, either. Think of Raptor at Cedar Point, which has bright spotlights to really illuminate the entire structure at night (and even has LEDs pointed at the cobra-roll, which fade out as the train approaches, then re-illuminate as it passes). What makes me think of this in relation to this thread is the concept art released before Delirium. As far as I've known, the ride has never looked quite that cool, though I'm sure it could. There are floodlights on it, but some cool LEDs would be incredible, and a flashing strobe a la Cedar Point's maXair is both disorienting for riders and really visually captivating for onlookers. If all of Action Zone (and indeed as I've said, the rest of the park) got a lighting overhaul to have brighter, more vibrant, more interesting looking rides, imagine how different the park would feel at night! And since we're lucky enough to have later operating hours than many sister parks, we could utilize that time...

Even having some LED lights hitting the track of say The Beast or Diamondback would be awesome. I'd love to see lighting improvements on Vortex. Back to Delirium, I always think after I see the rendering of a ride how different will the look be. I know that it's just a rendering but if the park isn't going to do it, then why add the special lighting on it. Again GYK I totally agree with you on this one! rotag
i agree about the lights as well. but leave beast in the dark.
Timbo1
Lighting would truly be a welcome sight. I find it difficult late at night navigating through the park and not running into anyone. The area around the Stunt Coaster and the Bathrooms is like feeling your way through, and don't get me started on the smoking. I know lighting doesn't make money but if we are not theme-ing the park like we used to, then LED with varying lights could change according to the night. Thank you
74Gibson
I agree about the lighting... Parks at night are simply AMAZING! However, with daylight savings time there are hardly any dark hours in the park. Since last year, I've been thinking lighting isn't a very good investment. I totally want to punch myself for saying that but I can't lie...or not speak my mind

I am not sure very many people can enjoys the investment it would take!
Jasper
I agree that Delirium needs an overhaul, big time. Instead of having the bright yellow with red and white checkers on it, it simply has gone to like a real pale looking scheme. Even the logos have peeled off on the gondola. bkroz
The same, of course, can be said of all of Action Zone. The red & white plaza around the watertower is faded pink. Delirium is faded. And Invertigo looks canary yellow and pink, where it used to be one of the most beautiful combinations of colors I had ever seen on a roller coaster - a vibrant and deeply colored ride to really welcome guests to the park. Flight Deck, of course, will be freshly painted this year, but not the maroon it once was, and Son of Beast? Well... Poor Action Zone. :\
Beast1979
That doesn't even begin to describe what Action Zone has become. Yeah, the paint jobs stink, but in my opinion, the worst of it is beyond that - the giant open concrete with absolutely nothing there, the stupid go kart circle in the middle of a grass field, the rusting Congo Falls, the lack of any unified theme or feel to the area (From the rides to the handful of buildings: an ice cream shop, souvenir store, and grill.) Not to mention the dead end midways: one to get to an invert that has a lot of downtime, but you don't know it until you've walked all the way back; another to get to a suspended that has a longer queue than ride. My hope is that KI's seemingly systematic revamp of areas; Rivertown in 2009, Planet Snoopy in 2010, and now Coney Mall in 2011; continues to reach Action Zone in the near future. I would love to see some trees, some paint jobs, some upgraded theming in ride queues and buildings, some brick pavers, maybe all to go along with a brand new coaster toy, perhaps where SoB or Thunder Alley sits? Wistful and fantasy like, I know, but I can dream. And given KI's revamp history, I don't think a lot of that is out of the question. Jackson, who criticizes because he cares. 57 days, 17 hours, 8 minutes, 20 seconds! (Yes, that is on my iGoogle homepage )
CedarPointer
I think it would be easy to upgrade the park's lighting by just adding some LED floodlights onto the top of the buildings. Looks decent and it would create a lot of light.
Delirium13
My prediction, of which I have absolutely no evidence to back up, is that Action Zone will be the next area to receive a new attraction and will receive a revamp similar to Rivertown and Coney Mall. Like has been said many times on here, it does seem they are making their way around the park revamping areas and Action Zone is very much in need of some love. Once an area of the park I used to spend a large pat of my day in, now I go in, get a few rides, and head to the other areas of the park which are nicer and have more shade.
