Parking Prices Changing

Today I noticed that parking prices have increased to 12 regular and / 20 preferred

This is the second change I've seen this season

- they began at 10 and 20

- changed to 10 and 15 which was same as last year

- now 12 and 20

All I can say is, Thank God for season passes! Hopefully, with all that extra revenue they'll be getting, they will earn enough to rebuild that parking lot.

It sure needs it. It's a total mess out there. There's potholes big enough to swallow your car! It needs to be redesigned, but for sure, it needs to

be totally repaved. I think it's only been repaved ONCE in its 40 year history! That I can remember anyway.

For the park to start working on the lot, they will need to start it the Monday the park closes for the season. Start with the front and work their way to the back.

Saw it coming.... it was $12 at KD on Opening Day, and I was honestly surprised it wasnt $12 at WoF when I went there for their (joke of an) Opening Weekend. Im AMAZED its still $10 at the Point, though Im willing to bet that changes before this weekend if it went up at KI.

Also, they need to make exiting the park easier. Sometimes it can be confusing to find how to get out of the parking lot.

Well, $12 is still better than $20, which from what I have heard is what you have to pay to park at Six Flags Great America. That's crazy expensive! Hopefully, Kings Island won't go that high...then again, their season passes are cheaper than Kings Islands: $75.00 versus $150, because a Six Flags pass gets you into ALL Six Flags parks so it must be compared to Platinum Pass...but you have to pay to park at all of them. And the price varies by location.

Actually, many people don't have a clue how expensive KI is. We took one of my sons friends yesterday - the amount of money his parents gave him for "lunch, snack, and maybe a game" almost got him a piece of pizza and a drink.

Technically parking isn't free, it's included in the price of a season pass during a promotional period which does have an expiration date. However, an annual parking pass is always available for purchase.

How many $4.00 pops though does it take change that though? Or if you compare gate prices, Holiday World wins. It's not quite a fair comparison when you look at discounted KI ticket vs. full price Holiday World ticket. (I've even seen buy two separate tickets for the price of one promotion at Holiday World.)

Another enthusiast site (that is better than any other site/ group and has no problem telling everyone that) believes CP's is the worst because the park does not spray the lot down everyday to remove the seagull droppings.

Personally, I'd prefer to drive on a crack and pothole-filled parking lot and get new attractions than have a nice looking parking lot...

In a dream-world scenario, I'd like to see it get the solar panel parking lot covers that the zoo has. Alternatively, a garage structure would allow the park to remove part of the lot without sacrificing capacity. If they took out the parking area by Boomerang Bay, they could free up a lot of room for a waterpark expansion by building handicap accessible bridges over the existing employee and service roads.

If they took out the parking area by Boomerang Bay, where will all the crowds going to the Bay park? As for expansion, the park owns the land out to Western Row Road. Also, what about the loss of revnue from parking fees with the parking removed?

A parking structure would not mesh well with the KI skyline, I don't see them going that route unless they wanted to fork out the money for an underground parking garage...and we all know the chances of that happening.

Besides, is there a real need for that? Is the parking lot in such bad shape that we somehow think a parking deck would be the only solution? I don't know that I've ever ever seen the parking lot entirely full, so essentially building many equally-sized parking lots on top of eachother seems redundant. Only the first floor would be filled!

A parking deck would not only be more of a bad thing, but would cost too much and take twice as long to build. Concrete costs alot. The park will also have to maintain the deck. And they will have to build the deck starting in march/april due to the cold and winters Ohio has. We had a parking deck built at my work. It wasn't all that big. It took a good 8 to 12 months to get it all done. And it was a 4 story lot too.

There are times like during Spirit Song and Halloween Haunt where the lot is full. I know that 5 or so years ago during the very last day of the season, Kings Island had a bring a friend day for free, the lot was so full that people couldn't find places to park.

I'm not sure how Great Wolf Lodge works, but I know at a lot of larger resorts or even the most basic hotels in the Orlando / Anaheim area, you pay an amount (usually between five and ten dollars) per day as a parking fee. When you check in, you write your license plate on the form you sign and that works as a sort of parking pass. Even when you stay at hotels in Mason that don't require a parking charge, you'll often see a space to write your license plate number on the agreement at check-in, because the larger properties and the properties near huge destinations do so.

Great Wolf Lodge might... But even if they don't I'm sure it's against their policy to park there. It's a business, and likely a private tow-away zone. That would give them every legal right to have your vehicle removed from the premises if you were not a paying customer at their establishment. It just depends on if the people working notice / care enough to inform someone who could remove your car.
