I actually ate at the International Restaurant that year, and I remember it being a nice get-a-way, as well as providing a unique view of the park:

DOES THE PARK HAVEA RAINCHECK POLICY

Sorry, but as is the policy of other major parks in the country Kings Island does not offer rainchecks.

Once again this is what is wrong with how corporate America has conditioned the general public...all it takes to "justify" a policy is to say that others are doing it...so it must be ok.

KIfan73, Thanks for posting the flyer! :)

I think the way they explain that one now is that since there's indoor attractions and shows, and things will reopen when the rain is over, the park is technically still open so they don't need to give refunds/rainchecks.

I do remember the park closing for weather. In April of 2005, they closed one Sunday due to snow in the forecast. Throughout the day on the previous day, they made a point of announcing this to guests and encouraging guests with tickets for that date to stop by Guest Services to exchange them for another date.

Then of course there was the fiasco a couple years ago when power went out to a good portion of the park. No early closing, no refunds and no warning to incoming guests. They continued to let people pay for parking and admission as if nothing was wrong. Kinzel wouldn't dream of giving up any of his nickels of course.

I learned of this type of policy back on my only visit to CP in '96. An hour into our visit, while in line for Magnum (never did get to ride it!), it began raining, then down pouring, and every ride was closed (but we did wait for 2 hours to ride what I believe to be the infamous indoor 'bobsled' ride).

Mrs. Kingsrattler and her mom went to the park a year or two ago, and the power went out across the park. They ended up closing around 7 I think. While they did not offer a rain check, her mom was offered 4 Starlight tickets that could be used before Halloween Haunt. (She had a gold pass.. so she was not offered anything)

wow look at those prices compared from then to now. I have many fond memories of KI from 92 even though I was only 4 years old at the time. I thought it was the greatest place on earth back then. I remember seeing this at one time but it has been forever it seems like

Wasn't the power out to the tolls and the marquee sign by KI Drive? And a good portion was still open... I was in Coney Mall and didn't even know about it until a few hours later.

I don't know. I wasn't there that day. I just heard about it here and on the news.
