Cedar Point to remove Disaster Transport & Space Spiral for B&M Wing

Featured Replies

I find it interesting that no track or supports have shown up as we know of.

Anchoring bolts have been found on site.

Along with a wide assortment of nuts.

  • Nice picture online today of Gatekeeper.

  • No. This is a parking lot coaster. Gatekeeper is not even comparable to bland, un-original coasters, like this.

I'm glad I was able to get some closure with DT. When hearing it was being replaced I was upset because I wasn't going to get to go until September, and it turned out that would be after it's final d

No, they're already at the park, at KI, or on KIC!

anyone else intrigued by "they" will be set free? could be plural.... maybe dueling coasters? probably not.... but just a thought.

I have been looking on the back of every Semi coming north on I75 for the past two weeks. I want to see B&M track so bad.:)

I hear a manufacturing plant in Batavia is a hot spot for B&M roller coaster track.

I got to ride DT on the last day it was to operate. Tell you what, this ride was cool in its own way and other people must've thought so too cause there was a 1.5 hour wait for it. It will be missed but I'm very excited to see what its replacement will be.

So it was a 1.5hr wait for the last day of operation??

Yes, sometimes reaching 2 hours. All of that, and the park wasn't that busy.

Already? Wow. I wonder how long it will take Kings Island to demolish Son of Beast (although that is a bigger ride).

I really don't think Disaster Transport or Son of Beast's demolition will take as long as you guys are making it sound. Universal destroyed the whole Jaws area in around a month. That area was huge compared to Disaster Transport.

Demo is a lot easier than constructing.

^ Indeed I'm aware of the famous Phoenix at Knoebel's but adding the word Blue in front of Phoenix would alleviate some of the copyright concerns I'd imagine.

Not when Blue Streak is already in the same park. Trademark lawyers would have a field day. Confusion is one of the first elements of an infringement case, and would be easily proven. So, ma'am, you went to Cedar Point expecting a blue version of Phoenix at Knoebel's?

I will be at the park on Monday, coincidentally, so I might have to go over and see the announcement for myself.

FEMA?

Terp, who sometimes just can't stop himself.

All depends who's running it. God forbid we're gonna be riding B&M track in a white trailer!

Cedar Point is building Six Flags New Orleans in Disaster Transport's location?

I've got it. They're moving MegaZeph up here. Perfect!

Give FEMA more credit than that.

The announcement is 5 days away, FEMA would be there in 4.

CP is wasting little time in DT's removal:

Here's the first look at the animation. You can tell the entrance has deffently been redone.

That's a picture of Raptor posted on Cedar Point's FaceBook page, not an animation.

That's a screen shot of the animation. Look closely, that's deffently not a real photo and you can tell the entrance is different.

on your google cache link there is Latin written on the left side

Something BIG is gonna happen!

Hac risus enim turpis elit. In sit penatibus

Google Translator tells me it says this:

Something Big is gonna happen!

For more ideas on this here. Is in the home

Latin text placeholders are often used in design, so that the presentation can be evaluated without any real content as a distraction. In this case, the people in charge of the website may have created those pages before they even got the actual content for them. Clearly, they shouldn't have been visible publicly yet.

While it's looking likely that the name will be Gatekeeper, this isn't necessarily a certainty. Not yet having the final details of the ride, the web team could have created this test page using "Gatekeeper", which is clearly the project codename if not the actual ride name for the ride.

Cedar Fair comes up with some pretty awful names, but Gatekeeper is the worst yet.
