The Interpreter Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Uh. Racer. Scooby Doo lka Beastie lka Fairly Odd Coaster lka Woodstock Express. Both opened with the park in 1972. Quote
TheCrypt Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Scooby Doo opened with the park in 1972, alongside The Racer. If I were to take a wild stab at it, I would think that Scooby Doo was finished before The Racer, only because it was a smaller project. Therefore making Scooby Doo/Woodstock Express Wooden Coaster 1, The Racer Wooden Coaster 2, The Beast Wooden Coaster 3, and tsaeB fo niS Wooden Coaster 4. However, in the likely event that I am wrong, and that The Racer was finished first, then The Racer is Wooden Coaster 1 and Woodstock Express Wooden Coaster 2. Quote
The Interpreter Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 The kiddie coaster's name deserves more respect than that. Quote
TheCrypt Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Well what should I call her? Many liked Scooby Doo, but many loved The Beastie. Not too many liked Fairly Odd Coaster, and Woodstock Express is the current name. Quote
The Interpreter Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 So, list them all. I did. Shortening them to some name never used (Beastly?) isn't traditional, to be kind. 1 Quote
TheCrypt Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Beastie + Fairly = Beastly. But hath since been changed. Quote
BB1 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Does anyone know what the former Boomerang Bay ride names were? Coolangatta Racer, Down Under Thunder, Sydney Sidewinder, Snowy River Rampage, Crocodile Run, Tasmanian Typhoon, Great Barrier Reef Pipeline Paradise, Bondi Pipeline, and Awesome Aussie Twisters, you forgot those in your post, a more accurate page is here http://www.KICentral...attractions.php Quote
Outdoor Man Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 i still find myself calling Boo Blasters, Enchanted Voyage... and great pumpkin coaster, the Enchanted Voyage line queue 5 Quote
Sonofbeast2.0 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 A bit off topic but I think it's funny how the workers at the rides are always a year behind slogans sometimes more. Quote
medford Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I call Woodstock Express neither its current name, nor its original name all while wishing it had its non-original tunnel back. Quote
Maverick00 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Cedar Point operaters still say, "Enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, Americas Roller Coaster, Ride on." I still haven't heard an operator say Thrills Connect. Quote
jcgoble3 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I have few memories of the pre-Snoopy era, so old names are not a problem for me. However, I do have a tendency to refer to KI&MVRR, RFYLCB, and Dodgems as simply the train, the log flume, and the bumper cars, respectively. Quote
Maverick00 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I do the same thing. No matter what park Im at, I always call them the bumper cars, Scrambler, Monster, Train and Troika. Quote
TheCrypt Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Well, at Kings Island, they kinda are the Scrambler and Monster, and WAS Troika. I've heard some ride ops say "Where Thrills Connect!" this season. Quote
homestar92 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 As a result of this thread, I will henceforth refer to all rides in the park by what they WOULD HAVE been called if this were RCT. 1 Quote
jdawg1998 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 As a result of this thread, I will henceforth refer to all rides in the park by what they WOULD HAVE been called if this were RCT. You mean, Wooden Coaster 1, Extended Coaster 1, etc.? I don't think that's a good idea! Quote
LongliveKingsCobra Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 lol I like it! Pirate Ship 1 Fries Shop 1 Ice Cream Stall 1, 2, 3 Bathroom 1-10 Handyman 1-1443843 Mechanic 1-59893 ect ect and so fourth bahahahh 1 Quote
jdawg1998 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 "Janitor 6, you're doing a great job cleaning up the park!" 2 Quote
LongliveKingsCobra Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 But you really need all those handyman if you don't want throw up in your park. I think at the most I had in one park was 100...? Quote
slitthythroat Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I don't call Drop Tower by it's new name because it sounds utterly bland. I call Outer Limits its new name, because OT is too complicated really. As far as I know I call everything else by their new names, other than those that never changed. (i.e Vortex, Beast, SoB) Quote
diamondhawk Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 RFYLCB is too long for me. I call it the baby log flume. Quote
TheCrypt Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 But you really need all those handyman if you don't want throw up in your park. I think at the most I had in one park was 100...? I think they're called janitors. But I'll go check! Quote
homestar92 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 They're Janitors in 3, Handymen in 1 and 2. Also, I call RFYLCB, "The Log Flume" due to the fact that there are no other log flumes in the park . Congo Falls is a Shoot-the-Chutes type of ride if I remember correctly. 1 Quote
A.S.Coasters Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 So you preferred the RCT naming method. I see I love riding Wooden Coaster 2 at Kings Island! So then I guess if I have my history right, you enjoy riding The Beast? That would mean either Woodstock or Racer because they both opened with KI. Quote
LongliveKingsCobra Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 But you really need all those handyman if you don't want throw up in your park. I think at the most I had in one park was 100...? I think they're called janitors. But I'll go check! You know, I think they are too, and the mechanics are called handymen... Oh well. Quote
ohiocolts Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I found this in the men's bathroom by the Coney Mall entrance. I just had to take a picture. I imagine it has been up for awhile. 4 Quote
Sergeant Pepper Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 ^ I can't believe that is still up! That is kind of cool though. My friends/family still call rides FACE/OFF, Top Gun, Drop Zone, etc, but I call them their current names. Quote
tuxedoman52 Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 I sometimes call FLight Deck TOp Gun. Quote
coasterfanatic83 Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 "Wooden Rollercoaster 4 looks too intense for me.' I guess I should get rid of the loop... Quote
