Original Ride names.

Featured Replies

I grew up in the Paramount Era so I call the rides by their original names. when ever I ask, "Who wants to ride Face Off?" Everyone just stares at me as if I have three heads and they say, "what's that?" I'm starting to give in and start to call them their current names just so people can understand me. Do you still call the rides by their original names?

I found this in the men's bathroom by the Coney Mall entrance. I just had to take a picture. I imagine it has been up for awhile.

Yes, I sure do. All the new names for the rides are corny as best.

Does anyone know what the former Boomerang Bay ride names were?

B)

Coolangatta Racer, Down Under Thunder, Sydney Sidewinder, Snowy River Rampage, Crocodile Run, Tasmanian Typhoon, Great Barrier Reef

I only call Drop Zone by it's original name because Drop Tower sounds blander than toast without jelly.

People complain about generic names. Really? We had 5 Drop Zones, 4 Top Guns, and 2 Tomb Raiders. Hell, we had 2 Vortexes (sp?), 2 Flight of Fears, 3 Italian Jobs....

And now we have 5 Drop Towers, 4 Flight Decks, 3 Backlot Stunt Coasters, 1 Crypt. Plus the 2 Vortexes and the 2 Flight of Fears.

Yes, @Brown you beat me to the BB line!

3 Vortex, 3 Flightdeck and 1 Afterburn. Furthermore 2 Woodstock Express and 2 Ghoster Coaster.

I sometimes lazily call rides by their principal characteristic; like the Troika, Bumper Cars, Train, Flume, and Ship, to "name" a few. In a former decade, I'd add the pseudo-suffix "-thingy" to these, but I've since dropped it because it has become passé.

I only call Drop Tower Drop Zone and Flight Deck Top Gun sometimes.

But other than that I dont mind the new names at all.

So you preferred the RCT naming method. I see :D

I love riding Wooden Coaster 2 at Kings Island!

You should try calling Flight of Fear, The Outer Limits. Most people think you're trying to ride a tv show..

Yes, I tend to accidentally still call FoF, The Outer Limits.

So then I guess if I have my history right, you enjoy riding The Beast?

I call the rides by their name now. They were changed and the names are on the map. If someone asks me where a ride is or I overhear them asking, I'm not gonna say "oh are you looking for Top Gun? Do you remember where Face/Off is? Yeah it's around the corner from that."

Yeah it's great to remember the days of Paramount, but Paramount is no longer the owner of the park nor does the naming of the rides, I'll respect the park and current owners by calling the rides, what they have them named as. It's kind of like if someone changed their own name, would you continue to call them by their old name?

3 Vortex, 3 Flightdeck and 1 Afterburn. Furthermore 2 Woodstock Express and 2 Ghoster Coaster.

There's actually 4 Vortex and 5 Woodstock Express :)

Actually, The Beast would be the park's Wooden Coaster 3. ;)

I wish RCT3 had a Troika...

"Here's the story of a lovely amusement park, that has many brothers and sisters, all of them were differnt, not like thier mother, the youngest one in Canada. It's a story of a man named Dick, who was the owner of CF, CF was born in Sandusky, living together but they were all alone, till the one day Dick met Paramount parks and they knew it was much more than a deal, That these parks were some how become uniform, that's they way we became CF. The CF, the CF, that's the way we became the CF."

On the forums, I call the rides by their current names. Outside of the forums, I call most of the rides by their old names (with the exception of Invertigo and Boo Blasters).

wait...what is Wooden Coaster 2 then?

Racer, The Beast?, Beastie?, SOB? that's how it goes right?

Flip Beast and Beastie, then you're right.
