I was not born when Kings Island used to have a camp site where Action Zone is now. I always thought it would be cool to bring back some of that old appeal that the park used to have. Do you that KI should make a new campsite?

And just to clear things up, the campground was actually where Great Wolf Lodge stands today. Before Action Zone the area was known as Adventure Village and, at one point, featured a monorail ride with live animals that resided in the area that is now Son of Beast/Adventure Express/Flight of Fear.

But yea, I'd love to see a compground again!

If you look on Google Earth, you can actually see what's left of a few old gravel roads from the campgrounds. Like several people said, it's behind Great Wolf Lodge and beside the small gray/tan building (whose name escapes me at the moment... It's a Kings Island building. I want to say it's part of the landscaping department.)

Standbyme has an awesome thread (one of many) that shows a brochure from the campground in the 70's. Check it out here: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/25069-kings-island-70s-campground-brochure/

One of the highlights:

Paramount said that they were interested in building a new camp ground and built a "modern" one at Carowinds in 2005(?) I believe that had wi-fi hookup and other modern amenities. Paramount's plans, if they had even gone beyond the discussion stage, were probably scrapped when the company changed hands not soon after.

Yes, if they could buy out some more land (Western Oaks?) and place it on another close property, that would be great.
