Ludlow Lagoon: What's there now?

Recommended Posts

I recently had the pleasure of checking out some picture of the old Ludlow Lagoon park, (Perks of working at a library) and was wonder what occupies the space today? Is this a place I could visit? Ludlow is about a 5-10 min. drive from my house and I'd love to check it out. Thanks for any info at all.

Other than the clubhouse (which is at 312 Lake Street: http://goo.gl/maps/BgIBn), not much is left. According to the Kenton County Library, most of the land the park originally occupied is now a residential neighborhood, and the rest of the low-lying areas were filled in in the late 60s: http://www.kentonlibrary.org/genealogy/history/ludlow/article.cfm?ID=101

Apparently the Lake lasted for many years after the park closed, my neighbor used to drive down there to get water. They apparently drained it when they built Riverfront Stadium to dump debris.

The Ludlow Images of America book has a lot of good picutres of the Park including the cover: http://www.amazon.com/Ludlow-Images-America-Judy-Neff/dp/0738543330/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1343828527&sr=8-1&keywords=ludlow+images+of+america

This book tells the whole history of the park pretty much: http://www.amazon.com/Amusement-Greater-Cincinnati-Northern-Kentucky/dp/B0006S367U/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1343828643&sr=8-2&keywords=ludlow+lagoon

This site has a lot of good pictures of the park: http://www.nkyviews.com/kenton/kenton_lagoon_1.htm

There was also once a spot on the Ludlow Lagoon in a series I think called My Hometown, that I think channel 9 used to do with Joe Webb. The Kenton County Library used to have the video, whether they still do or not, I'm not sure.

I think that could be said about a lot of the smaller parks in the Cincinnati tristate area. It seems like Coney was the only real survivor.

Bump. (Again)

What an ill-fated statement....

New(ish) documentary about the Lagoon for those so inclined:
