Guest KingsIslandPR Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Kings Island's Diamondback roller coaster will be featured tonight on the Travel Channel's "Insane Coaster Wars" series in the "Extreme Heights" category. Two other great Cedar Fair roller coasters, Intimidator at Carowinds and Millennium Force at Cedar Point, will also be featured in tonight's episode. 8 Quote
Joncars05 Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Preface for the KI fanboys: I like DB but again I think logically... I'm still scratching my head on how DB got in this category... I guess the travel channel didn't want to "travel" to TOO many parks and just filmed at the minimum amount of parks to get the footage they needed for their shows. Quote

Intimidator and DB are similar besides the scenery (DB wins that one!). MF is in a whole other category though! Quote
homestar92 Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 I liked Intimidator more than Diamondback. Its layout (while still boring and unimaginative) was a bit more interesting than Diamondback's. Never ridden either of the other two. Though I will add, when I want to go fast without venturing too far from home, Diamondback IS the best way to get that fix. There used to be some other way to go nearly 80 mph at Kings Island, but that is nothing more than not-so-ancient history these days. Quote
PKIVortex Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Diamondback wins hands down when it comes to air time though. But I have a feeling MF will win this. Quote
The Interpreter Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 There is a fourth coaster featured, from Six Flags Great Adventure, the tallest in the world at 456 feet and 128 miles per hour, adjacent to the largest television market in the country. Kingda Ka. Since El Toro didn't win.... 1 Quote
jdawg1998 Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 How can Kingda Ka and Millennium Force be competing against Diamondback? There's no way DB will win. Sorry, I had to say it! Quote
The Interpreter Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 It's the Travel Channel. Anything can happen. And may. 3 Quote
beastrider97 Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Out of the four, of which I've ridden 2 and TTD which is comparable to KK, MF is my pick to win. Regardless of the hate for it, still my favorite rollercoaster, even when getting pelted by bugs at 92 mph! Quote

CoasterGeek101 Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Darn it, we got rid of Time Warner. Now I have to wait for someone to put it on youtube. 1 Quote

Lots of enthusiasts cite that the first drop is top 10, but the rest of the ride is boring. This could be a small group of people mainly located on TPR, but overrated is thrown around a lot for the ride. 1 Quote
The Interpreter Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 The TPR contingent, for the most part, wouldn't be caught on camera saying anything nice about Great Adventure though. Not "fashionable." Quote

Lots of enthusiasts cite that the first drop is top 10, but the rest of the ride is boring. This could be a small group of people mainly located on TPR, but overrated is thrown around a lot for the ride. The first drop is awesome, as well as the constant speed and the amazing little hill before the overbanked curve into the brake run. One thing I think is overrated about it is the airtime - there was none when I went on it besides the little hill I talked about. I definitely wouldn't call it overrated. Quote
beastrider97 Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Sitting in the front few rows and back few rows seems to be loaded with airtime! Everything about the ride is fantastic for me, I doubt I will ride something better. Quote
Original Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Extreem heights catagory? TTD for sure... if it is in the show. Quote

ohiocolts Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 As I kind of expected, Milli won. I've actually rode 3/4 of the coasters in this category (Milli, DB, Timmy). Quote
BeastForever Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Did anyone else notice that in the show they said that Kings Island had 80 rides? 3 Quote

Jr for Birdy Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 How can you run a series called Insane Coaster Wars without featuring the most insane ride ever,Maverick! It needs its very own show. 2 Quote

Jr for Birdy Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 I would agree with I-305.Forgot about that one,but Maverick needs in the mix as well. Quote
jdawg1998 Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Maverick is very insane and intense - I'm not sure why it isn't a more popular coaster. Very underrated! But I'm happy Millie/Milly/Milli won. 1 Quote
PhantomTheater Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 ^It crushes my legs and bangs my head, Mean Streak gives me a more pleseant ride. 1 Quote
