30 years from 2043 what will we see at CONEY ISLAND.?

My prediction the street car will run right to the outside of the gates of Coney Island. B&B riverboats will have a Memorial day through Labor day Banks, Levy, Coney 3 stop cruise/ from 9am till 9pm .

Fireworks competition, will be so huge that its nationally televised.

The baloon glow is so big that it Rivals New Mexicos Hot air baloon fest.

Across the street from Coney on the wooded hill side is Western town for COney, full of rides, a western town connected by a new Lake Como/Coney train, with real shootouts, a western village with crafts, and more.

Sunlite water Park will have opened, across the street also.

A parking structure has been built for Riverbend that now has a 3rd stage for even smaller audiences.

Coney island now has 1.5 million people through its turnstiles.

Yogi Bear and Jelly Stone Camping is built along that area of Coney Island.

Shooting star gives its 50 millonth rider

Lost River is rethemed to Bear landing at the river.

The Biggest German Restraunt and Beer gardens opens outside of Munich, from American fare food, to german its all Natti/ German fun for the family so popular their is a entrance outside the gates.

I would wish for the Coney Island itself to be again a major park in the Lunken-Cincinnatti area. Maybe new land purchases along the Ohio River, making the Coney into a more larger area. Possibly a new waterpark revamp, with new slides and areas. I havent been to Coney for about 7 years now, so a big improvement in 2043 I would think. Alas times will just go on and things will come, possibly things of today that we seem new, to be gone too.

It will be restored. Some major company is going to buy it out and make it look like it used to be 126 years ago. To me, the present Coney looks a little bit "ghetto". I'm hoping they bring back some old rides(but leave the carousel at KI)

I really don't see any of this happening. There's already a major park in the area and huge expansion would just hurt Coney in trying to compete with KI on a bigger scale. Coney has found a new niche as an affordable family park / pool / company picnic place. It's a great little park, and I for one would certainly not consider it "ghetto".

It still can be. Believe me, I doubt a Coney Island restoration would make KI have less guests.

I never said that a Coney restoration would make KI have less guests. I said that if Coney expanded to try to compete more directly with KI, then it would hurt Coney, not KI, in the long run. Coney's current business model works for them, and has worked for them for years. Small parks have their place too; not every park has to be mega. Hence the reason Coney and Stricker's have been able to survive.

One of Coney's major problems is flooding in the spring, and that was one of many things that contributed to them removing attractions, and moving others at the end of 1971 to a former field in Kings Mills in 1972. As it is, they spend enough time and resources in cleanups every spring.

Sure, I can see Coney adding a few new things here and there (they pretty much have to to help drive business), but nothing on a grand scale like a whole new Western themed section of the park, a campground or a huge gigantic waterpark expansion.

People are more than welcome to dream and speculate, but I'm just trying to add a dose of reality to this topic.

Instead of the street car going to the gates of Coney, a bigger, better Island Queen will transport passengers to the park from the Public Landing. Due to the constant flooding of the Ohio River, which is one of the reasons for the move to Kings Mills, a flood wall would have to be built to protect it from flooding. This is needed if it expands like it is being envisioned. Even if it does not expand like this, the Island Queen would be a nice addition. My parents used to rave about taking it to Coney when they were young.

Like Gary said, many of these plands are way too grandiose for Coney. It is going after a slightly different target market than Kings Island. It is not going after the roller coaster, adrenaline junkies. It is going after a family crowd. Heck, the "it" in the slogan "Coney has it" is referring to affordable family fun. Not to mention Coney usually doesn`t have very long lines for the rides.

I`m sure Coney will add new things in the future. They will help attract and drive new business to the park.

Will Coney be different in 30 years? Absolutely. Who knows what it will look like. Even ten years from now, the park is going to look drastically different. Same thing applies for Kings Island.

I feel their is a sleeping giant next door.

River Downs has a new owner and they already have paid a $50 million license fee to the state

for the right of video slot machines. Money is not an obstacle.

Unfortunately, I see RD's buying CI after the death of the current owner Brenda Walker.

I see a gambling boat parked by the river entrance and CI will be tailored to the promotion of

casino style gambling. To offset this, CI needs to invest now and make it a popular attraction

like it was in the 60's. It has to be CI choice to get busy expanding, but we can't even get a roller coaster .

Ironically it would be very sad because Coney actually started and owned River Downs.

Until a law was passed making it prohibitive for amusement parks to own and/or run a race track.

Rumor has it that Brenda Walker isn`t actually the owner of Coney anymore. I can`t confirm this, but I did hear rumblings that Ron Walker Jr, her son, had taken ownership of the park from her.

Also, Coney serves a purpose besides just the pool and amusement rides. It is the parking and food concessionaire for Riverbend Music Center. That is a very lucrative business for Coney that few realize it has.

I don`t think another stage is a possibility. There is already a large concerte venue and a small concert venue at Riverbend. There isn`t really a need for another venue.
