Cincinnati Coney Island Replica being built at EnterTRAINMent Junction

Recommended Posts

Forgive me if there's another thread on this...

Yesterday I was visiting Cincinnati and on a whim decided to take in EnterTRAINment Junction. I hadn't been in and had no idea what it was about. We had some time to kill, so we went in, paid the admission and were awestruck at the train displays. What a fun place!

Anyway... there's a whole new section under construction that replicates Cincinnati's Coney Island. Currently, the Shooting Star Coaster, The Carousel, Ferris Wheel and the Tumblebug are in place and functioning. The Cuddle-Up, Lost River and Rockets are under construction.

This was the highlight of the place IMO... the detail was amazing and it looks just like CCI in the glory days.

If you haven't seen it, you chould check it out. The signs said it was due to be completed late spring 2013.

Here's some pics (taken on cell phone - sorry for quality.)

I'd highly recommend entrainment junction to anyone. Yes I have young children and my now 4 year old son is the reason I first attended, but the place is remarkable. I'm by no means a train enthusiast, so I think I can safely say that you don't have to be "into model trains" to appreciate the place. You may need to be a model train enthusiast or a young child to enjoy multiple trips, but I think it would be impossible not to be in awe of the scale and effort that has gone into this place. If you have young kids, then you definently want to go, but I think its something just about everyone would enjoy once or twice, no matter how much or how little you care about trains, model trains, etc...

Based up the view of the roof joists in a couple of those pictures, I'd venture that its a good bet this is located to the North (?) side of the observation deck where they used to have a circus display (I'm pretty sure this is where SOB is talking about as well). Its been a year or so since I've there, I can't remember if there is an elevator to get up to the observation deck or not. For anyone wanting to go specifically to see this display that may have trouble getting up/down steps (its about a flight of steps if it makes a difference) they may want to call ahead to check that they can get up there for sure.

For anyone w/ difficulties getting up/down stairs, the observation deck is pretty small, but gives a great view of the display. However, the place is still well worth it and easily accessable outside of the observation deck. Everything is flat, aside from the steps up/down to the deck.

violakat03, if you enjoy model trains, you will not regret a trip to Entrainment Junction. You can probably drop a couple of hours in the place if you do a couple of their scavenger hunt sheets.
