TombRaiderFTW
Why is this kind of thing newsworthy this year? It's happened for years without being published.
The Interpreter
One word: WindSeeker. The California one caused this...
TombRaiderFTW
Yes, but how is it reaching the media? I wouldn't think the park would voluntarily release info like this to the press just because. Then again, what do I know about public relations?
The Interpreter
People on the ride or in the park are calling the media, often emailing pictures.
Hank
Oh, for god's sake, I tell you! Instant news no matter how insignificant. What they really should be reporting on is the slow-death sinking of Vortex!

The Interpreter
In other news, a server at Big Boy knocked over a glass of ice water, soaking the customer. The customer was given his meal. The manager said "We try to avoid this, but despite our best efforts, it happens."

jzarley
While technically accurate, "evacuated" seems an especially dramatic choice of words for the actual situation...

shark6495
http://www.themeparkinsider.com/flume/201107/2583/ Remember, a ride evacuation doesn't mean that the ride is "broken." In many cases, it means that the ride is operating properly, and has stopped safely because of some outside factor, such as a crying child... or a backpack dropped on a track. But in all reality, its just a blurb on the news website. Nothing to start I hate Media campaigns for.

Tanna
I do hate these little "People had to wait, then walk down the stairs" stories. There was no news because the ride stopped- cars didn't crash pell mell into each other because of the fifteen minute wait and evacuation. This isn't news, it's a safety feature operating as it should. You'd think the journalist would be amazed every time an elevator door closes properly.
SonofBaconator
Hey, they were lucky. I would kill to walk through those woods and get a good view of the construction.

BB1
I am just facepalming to this in two ways. A- Really, a ride break down is the big headline for this? B- There is one bit of not exact information on the news report, I am shocked no one has found it yet. So I will sit and wait.
medford
Was the ride up and running later in the day? My 4 year old son is ever so close to hitting the 48" mark, he's going thru a growth spurt and seems like he might be on the same track as season's passed, hitting a "key" KI height mark right around his birthday in late June. Unfortunately for me, my wife gets to lay claim for his first ride on The Racers, beast, etc... Adventure Express may be one of the ones I get to take him on for his first ride. Hope AE is up and running shortly.

MarketingExpress
I do love how they say its the 2nd time this year that a ride has "unexpectedly" gone down. Guess all the downtime that rides experience everyday must be planned according to this media outlet.
jcgoble3
WHIO is the best news outlet in Dayton. Or rather, was. It is not like them to be reporting this non-news. Something must have changed at WHIO, and I don't like it.

KI FANATIC 37
The WindSeeker thing was a big deal. They were up there for like 4 hours. Thats along time especially if someone has medical problems. This was 10-15 min. I just don't kow why this is on the news....

Big Sexy
Cleveland news stations must have been busy everytime ttd went down or the launch cable wod snap.
kblanken
Or a backpack dropped on the track?!? Why was it on the ride at all? (I know it's not talking about AE) There was an incident on California Screamin' where a backpack fell onto the track, which set off events that that made the train valley. Paramount
I got stuck on Adventure Express once. It was honestly kind of a retreat from the heat because we got stuck on the lift hill with the animatronic fist-pumping dudes. So we took advantage and sat and relaxed for like 10 minutes. It certainly wasn't a news story.
