I don't think Beast's operate like that. It wouldn't make much sense to remove them in the spring/fall if they could "shut off" that easily.

Removal for the offseason probably has more to do with corrosion than anything.

I'm sure a protective coating is used (unless the park paid an obnoxious amount for non-corrosive magnets) that needs to be reapplied during the offseason. The protective coating endures a lot of wear & tear during the coarse of a season- especially from the weather.

^ That's true about Leviathan but The Beast has stationary trims similar to Diamondback and Behemoth's final brake run. The Beast uses air brakes to give the train a final stop due to the that magnetic brakes cannot fully stop a train.

Like I said, are these eddy current brakes or not and are the actuated and moved by the plc...we need info to determine more haha

I understand the need for the trim brakes in the shed, I just wish they'd take out a little more. Rode a near empty train ERT June 21st, and it absolutely killed the ride. :-/

I usually have my hands up during the ride but right as the shed comes I put my hands on the seat In front of me so I don't come forward.

Of course, it doesn't work if you sit in the front seat

When it started to rain we used to run to The Beast. You got one wild ride with air time. One time we made it almost all the way up the second lift hill.

I remember one time in the rain, we slid right through the shed, pretty much non stop......Wow what a fun ride that was!....It was so fast we flew through the tunnels totally out of control in the final turns before the second lift hill... we got back in line immediately after that ride!.....Ah.....those were the days.

Youngstud only rides beast in the dark. The ride seems 20mph quicker and you don't notice the trims as much.

If you only ride at night, how would you know?

I don't know how to post links but on Ultimate Rollercoaster there is a 35 years ago today thread with a 1979 pre opening run. There were no trims on the helix hill and interestingly enough the train barely made it up the final hill and actually had assist motors to get it to the brakes. I guess the 4 bench trains must have scrubbed off more speed in the turns as it was noticeably slower before the second lift, of course the empty weight probably contributed also. It was also neat to see the original lower banking on the first turn.

That has been posted here before. The ride did not operate that way when it opened.
