MommaSmurfCone
We were at KI on Sunday and my 10 year old son and I rode Diamondback. When we got off the ride we wentro view our picture, but couldn't see it with the other on-ride pics. I waited for awhile and finally asked the girl at the viewing area why our picture wasn't visable. Apparently the people in front of us used their cell-phone to take a pic when our train was stopped just outside the station and so they blocked our picture. She told me we couldn't view it as long as they were there. I have never heard of this and thought it was strange. And kind of ridiculous, honestly. I googled and couldn't find anything about this and I figured somebody on KIC would likely know about it. I understand that rules are rules and cell phones aren't allowed out on rides. What bothered me is that I didn't have my cell phone even with me and they were blocking my pic because of what some stranger in front of me did. Anyone else ever experienced this?
YoungStud
Its a bummer. Its policy though. The on ride pic contains 4 people if it was just you two, you guys would have been fine momma.
thedevariouseffect
Yup, it's policy, it sucks but it's the rules, and the pics show a violation of ORC & rider safety guidelines...Be happy they blurred it just because of a phone...Other rides have caused other issues to block pictures such as malfunctions, people doing things, ect.
Cedar Point Gal
When my sister and I were there our photo appeared four times because apparently someone in the four rows in front of us either had their phone out or flipped off the camera.(We were riding in the last seat.) MommaSmurfCone
I guess I can understand to a degree. But it sucks. My son was pretty bummed.

MommaSmurfCone
What I thought was weird was that apparently their phone wasn't out until we were sitting just outside the station. That's what the girl said. Not when the actual pic was taken during the ride. I wonder how they knew? At least that's what the girl working the picture counter said. At least she was nice about it. MommaSmurfCone
I think it was our last one. We live in Lexington so don't get up there more than once or twice a year. Kids are always busy with sports and now school. Oh well. Next year, I guess!! If I didn't also have a 4 and 1 year old I'd love to take the oldest to Haunt. But the 4 year old would be devastated if I left him home.
jlopez
I have a picture on SOB back in the paramount days around 2001 and there is a guy in my pic flipping off the camera . They would not let him buy the pic but they let me. But that was years ago...
mullimann
thedevariouseffect is right, unfortunately most on ride photos policy is to block any photo that is a violation. At Cedar Fair, they use PhotoguyS but when I was at Universal Orlando, we had Colorvision, and it was a constant battle to monitor those. Some places have ability to throw just a blank background image in the preview monitors, but if the operators do not know how, the easiest is to just dump the monitors. A 2nd issue comes up now with people trying to take photos of the photo, instead of purchasing it. Some put graphic overlays, some will just blank the monitors if they see a camera. I believe Disney is working on screen technology that prevents a photo of the screen.
Voicetek
It sucks when a couple of people ruin things for everyone else. I don't know why it's so hard to follow rules. Just like in elementary school when 1 or 2 kids talking would result in the lights being turned out and the entire class having to put their heads down on their desk and losing recess.
KevKenny
Earlier this year i was on DB and i held my glasses in front of my shirt. When we got to the picture station my friend and i picture was blanked out. I guess they thought my glasses were a camera
Ride On_17
I believe Disney is working on screen technology that prevents a photo of the screen. When I was at Universal and Disney over spring break, almost everyone was taking pictures of the screens with their onride photo on it. Never once did an employee ask anyone to stop, remove the image, etc. The employees just smiled and let people continue to do it. To me it didn't seem like the parks cared about whether or not people took pictures of the screen.
spitfire
The first time I rode Diamondback, the people in the car ahead of us wanted to get their picture and couldn't, because the two girls in front of them decided to lift up their shirts (they had bikini tops on underneath, but still). It's a shame they ruined a memento for the other guests.
MadMaverick
Couple weeks ago I was at Cedar Point when we got off magnum a couple kids were trying to take a picture if their on ride photo with their phones. They didn't block the picture but the guy at the photo stall went absolutely ballistic.
The Interpreter
At Hersheypark, violators of ride safety policy or those who make gang signs or obscene gestures get a surprise. The on-ride photo is used for evidence. The violator is ejected from the park without refund. If a passholder, the pass is revoked. Severe cases get prosecuted. Meanwhile, basketballs bounce annoyingly throughout that park.

The Interpreter
Which is why inflated basketballs have no place in a park. In my opinion.
shawnofthedead
I wish they had cobble stone streets and paths, so that when they bounce they go flying away. :-)
KI FANATIC 37
Every time I ride a well known ride for the first time, I buy my on ride photo for it. When I went on TTD for the first time, the person 2 rows behind me flipped off the camera and they were not allowed to sell me the picture. The Second time I rode it (About 30 min later), the cameras were down. So the third time I rode it, I finally got my picture. This stuff just happens. It sucks, but you can't do anything about it.
Diamondbill
I heard someone saying they got to re-ride because they went to buy a picture and it had been blocked due to someone making an obscene gesture, but I don't remember what park it was at. MommaSmurfCone
I can't believe it is so common. In all the years I have been going to theme parks I have nevee had that happen until Sunday. I guess I've been lucky.
MrSaturdayNite
Speaking from personal experience, those associates have an extremely small window of time to go through the new photos and decide whether or not to moderate. Sometimes, a perfectly fine photo gets blocked and somtimes a rude gesture gets through. The level of multitasking required is incredibly high, especially when you are in the middle of making a sale. -MrSaturdayNite, who once caught a guy smoking on Vortex.

upstop
Which is why inflated basketballs have no place in a park. In my opinion. AMEN!!! I lost a tray full of food to a stray basketball during a full court press in the middle of the mid-way (the front office heard about it but as you can see they are still give out basketballs....by the way I also saw a basketball being bounced off the walls back to the car inside of the Phantom Theater ride years ago.....from a car three cars ahead of us! The ride stopped and the man not a child was escorted away. Busch Gardens, Williamsburg also, unfortunately, has/had (not sure now) a basketball prize...it was an deflated basketball, just the way it should be.

ki lover
Which is why inflated basketballs have no place in a park. In my opinion. I agree, but the park has to max their profit. An un-inflated basketball has a prize just seems unappealing to the youngsters, so inflated ones it is.

I have so many pictures from onride photos I took with my own camera from Universal and I.O.A and they didn't mind one bit, I love that and wish Kings Island was not as strict. I am going to buy pictures for special moments like my kids first roller coaster, family vacation, etc. but sometimes there is a cute photo of my kids and I would love to just take a picture of it and hate to just let it go. It's so hard for me to see a picture taken of my kids being cute and not be able to have it and I find it sad so anymore I try not to even look at them at Kings Island unless I know its an occasion I need to buy it. I understand why, but I also don't like it at all at the same time!
markr
I think CP does not allow inflated basketballs in the queue areas-at least that was the rule a few years back. Call Terpie and me grumpy old men if you like but basketballs are annoying as well as a possible safety hazard in the station because of the risk of the ball falling on the track while a train is approaching. As to people who use their cel phones on rides, I wish all parks took a no tolerance view by booting the violators out of the park in addition to possible criminal prosecution-if they want to risk their own safety that is their own affair but don't jeopardize my safety and the safety of others, especially children.
