I'm curious to see just how far they go to make this new sign "top-of-the-line" since they get to start over from scratch. So has anyone heard anything? I sure haven't...

lol, I thought I could assume some things here but okay, fair enough.

The old PKI sign that was near the freeway blew down in a huge windstorm at the end of last season. Rumor had it at the time that they were going to rebuild it "bigger and better than ever" but I haven't heard anything else other than that. The sign that blew down was there for nearly 30 years (or so I was told) and they had only replaced the LED part a year or two ago so it was still pretty much the original sign with no need to replace it...until it fell down.

At the Boomerang Bay construction tour, Jeff said that the new sign had already been approved by Paramount Studios. However, he said that the park has had to apply for zoning variances to build a sign of the same size as the one that fell down due to changes in the zoning laws. If they didn`t aplly for zoning variances, they would only be able to build a sign about half the size of the old one, and because the old one was destroyed, it was not grandfathered into the codes, so they had to apply for variances. It is my understanding that the new sign will be more flashier than the old one with more graphics. I think I heard somewhere that the new sign will not be completed until early summer.

Ok, back in September of 03 the BIG sign out in the parking lot blew over in a wind storm and was destroyed. So now I believe the new sign design is waiting to get the "ok" from higher ups at Paramount Parks and is awaiting a zoning variance from Mason.

That is what i figured you were talking about. I just wanted to make sure. I did realize that the old sign was down. I still remember the time i was driving back home this summer from my job a little north of PKI and i almost wrecked my car trying to find the sign...haha...

The reason I wasn't quite sure was b.c I figured maybe a new sign was being made for a certain part of the park...

We all know that no one reads any of the signs anyway, the only people even notice is the one by the freeway, right? lol. The ones in the park are for decoration or something.

That we don't know about. In the fall Jeff said the sign would be sexed up a bit.

If they "sex" it up a bit... then it won't be suitable for children and we would definetly no longer be a family park.

Sexed up a bit....BA HA HA!!! They're definitely going to put in something that will turn heads from the highway. I don't think Cedar Point has a light-up sign of any type. I at least don't remember seeing one on the way into the park twice last year.

I have to say though that their sign is pretty sweet with the lettering and stuff. It's really nice.

Cedar Point really needs no need for a sign. There are no roads around it, except for the city streets, which are not being traveling roots like 71.

Yeah the signs in the park aren't important, that one about shoes, shorts, and shirt required- not imporant, 54in high requirement- forget about it, keep your hands and legs inside the car- wha???

that would be nice...except about the overpriced thing...the chicken fingers are awesome but you would have to wait forever, b/c it would b like a restraunt...unless like they kept it the same and the hooters girls brought the food to u...well neways steve remeber when u bought me those chicken fingers? hahahahahah u were like what do u want? and i got what i wanted hahahah ya i think the hooters girls would be nice but then there would prolly b an age limit and stuff which would b stupid. mayb they should make an adult part of the park like hot-women-naked-land or sumthing like that

Hmm... we went from talking about the new sign to Oscars... that's scary...

and the food there IS NOT good for humans.

Anyway, the sign should be something pretty cool... I'm thinking Vegas style with animations and stuff. Wishfull thinking? Maybe.

Hopefully the installation won't be delayed... last time I heard it might not be up in time for opening, but hey, things can change.
