So, after seeing webcams go down a few times and some posts, and being on leave, I figured, hell why not lets do a driveby, grab some dinner, relax around the area, and eventually make our way back north. So we got dressed and headed down to the park. Man it was nice to see the ride fully constructed. Last time we did a driveby it was prior to the GWL event, then seeing it at GWL. It's such a sight to see. Once you hit the exit ramp for I71 south you can see it on the skyline, it's quite impressive.

Anyways we got closer and closer to the road in front of Kings Island, it got exciting. Once you clear the trees and GWL there it stands. Man must I say the finished product looks AWESOME. I can't wait to see trains fly down the track. Now from the road view we couldn't notice anything in particular going on. The biggest things you notice honestly was the crews on Bat and Skyflyer repainting the rides. Aside from that they had the whole front sign topper taken off and on the ground, it was pretty cool to see. The thing literally is this giant block that sits on two metal columns. Other than that other small improvements were seeing potholes filled in the parking lot and fresh pavement, YAY!

Anyways onto the first round of pictures. We drove down the street, and back again really quick to grab some shots from different angles. After we slowed down to see if any testing was being done and realizing it wasn't we figured, why not stop in the Mason car pool thingy (whatever it's called) and snap some shots and watch them take care of the sign right next to the road. Also I asked Don on here for a tour..sad day he said no, ah well I at least tried :P

After we grabbed some shots, I remembered getting great shots from GWL, so I figured I'd do the same. We went off and parked, then went inside to ask a manager if it'd be ok if we went up to get a few pictures and on the hill outside. They gave us the go ahead and we snapped some more pictures and got a great vantage point of everything from up above and the small hill right at the end of the parking lot. Let me say The Bat repaint is fantastic, I love every bit of it. Also seeing Skyflyer get the same treatment today was awesome as well. Hopefully this nice warm weather is helping those crews out. Also it's literally as basic as a job as you'd think it is. Go up, grab a roller and paint, and start rolling it on. We watched a guy on The Bat at the lift crest paint the ride and literally it was, dip, dip, roll..Nothing fancy, just segments at a time.

After leaving there, one final driveby to see if we missed anything then off to grab lunch. We originally decided to head back after that since nothing exciting was happening, but fate had a different story. After leaving Chipotle for lunch Lindz's brakes went out. I opened the hood, and her BMC was completely dry, no DOT3 fluid at all. So after coasting gently down by Kings Auto Mall we got to a Tire Discounters that helped us out and we ended up staying there to get a segment of her brake line replaced and bleed the system.

Once we got nice new really touchy brakes, we figured, why not a night drive by. First those lift hill LED lights or whatever they installed are bright as hell. You can make the lights out and what they illuminate from I71 south heading north getting off by Soak City. This lighting is fantastic. I unfortunately didn't get pics, Lindz's phone did but I don't have them at the moment and night shots on a cell usually suck, so you won't see too much. However, the lift hill is perfectly illuminated and it's light even bleeds off a bit and hits Delirium and lights it up as well. Also by the front entrance the sign with the red LED scrolling text is still working and lit up....Why..not like we can get to the entrance amd read a "Kings Island is closed" scrolling across it :P

Once we took a final look at night of the ride, we got back on the highway and headed home. Lots of fun for a small short little trip, worth taking the time out of the day to do something. Plus like I said, no clue if I'll get to see the park open or not this year, it's still up in the air. Which was why I messaged you Don, wink wink ;P I just wanna see the park haha. Ah well I understand why, but a dedicated enthusiast can dream can't he. Ah well, again, it was fun, hope you all enjoyed some pictures & stuff. Again just think this trip report section will be lighting up in a month or so!

Oh it was..we hit the highway and got off on Kings Mills road to do a u-ey..Lindz went south instead of north. At the next light she looked at me and said my brake pedal went all the way to the floor. She complained the brake pedal was fading for about a week now and I amounted it to new pads, as the back was squeaking a bit. However, I got in, pushed the pedal and there was nothing but until the very end with alot of air in the pedal. Opened the hood and there it be, empty BMC...that was crazy..

Everything is fine now..her car almost brakes as good as mine with full ceramics on it and good DOT3 fluid..and she drives a heavy boat! :P

Nice Trip Report! But I have a question. Photos 8 and 9 from the top look like they were taken from inside of Kings Island's parking lot. Am I mistaken on that? Just wondering because Don did say no trespassing so I'm just curious. Not bashing of course, I'm guessing I'm either seeing it wrong or you have some kind of permission. Not really sure, hence why I'm asking.

Me and my brother drove past the park today, seen all that and also looked like they were painting Xtreme Skyflyer, was getting painted, their was some equipment near it and 3/4th's of it was colored a whitish color.

Forgive me if it not really painted and just the sun causing my eyes to play tricks on me.

The drive down One Team Way towards HR is open to the public. You just park in the employee lot on your way to HR for interviews or if you are going to process. Just follow the signs on where to drive and park. Thanks for sharing those pictures. I wonder if Kings Island is replacing the marquee sign in front or just repairing it? When I drove to the park to process on February 25th they were not working on the sign.

I just noticed the thread about the marquee sign being upgraded, so that answered my question.

@Gemini

I only went into the Mason car pool ride area thing..it's open to the public

The rest of the pics are on public roads..

I see no problems

Oh ok. Was just wondering, didn't mean to upset you. I've never heard of nor seen the Mason Car Pool Ride Area Thing so that's why it looked like Kings Island's parking lot to me. And when it looked like KI's parking lot, I thought surely I'm mistaken because a smart guy like you surely wouldn't trespass after Don specifically said entering the parking lot is not allowed during the off season, hence why I asked. Glad you could clear this up!
