nk2000
Hi everyone, a newbie with a question here. Sorry if this has been covered before. My friends and I plan on going to Halloween Haunt at KI this year. We hope to go on a Friday since I've been to the Haunt once before on a Saturday when the lines were so miserably long that we only got in a handful of rides and ONE haunt (Massacre Manor). I know the lines tend to be shorter on Fridays, so we figured that would be our best bet to have a better experience. However, I also know that the hours are shortened as well. So my question is that on a Friday, how many rides/haunts can you fit into in one night? Is it possible to hit most of the big coasters AND most of indoor and outsides haunts? Also any advice on how to make the most out of the night would be much appreciated!
The Interpreter
Welcome to KIC. Since I'm not a BooFest attendee Read on...let's see!
KI FANATIC 37
I went to HH in 2008 on a Friday. I believe we rode about 5 rides and maybe 2 mazes. Honestly, if you want to go and have a good time I would buy a FastLane for either the rides or the mazes (if they have that again). That will guarantee that you have a good time and ride everything you want
The Interpreter
The boo version of Fast Lane is Fright Lane.
MDMC01
I went to Haunt last year on a Friday night and I was able to get a decent amount of rides in. I only did one maze (Slaughter House) and the line was really short only because the sun was still up and it was the second thing I did that evening.
LoraX
We have been able to do a decent mix of coasters and haunts on a Friday night last year without a Fright Lane pass. We were not able to do everything though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
nk2000
Thanks for the help everyone! I'll run the Fright Lane pass idea by my friends and see what they say, but I don't think they'll want to pay $60+ for tickets alone. Honestly, the two rides we really want to get in is the Diamondback and the Banshee. I think if we got those two done, we could focus the rest of our time on the mazes.
KI FANATIC 37
If that is your only goal then you shouldn't need the Fright Lane pass. It is always an option though!
Dalefan
I believe you can only use a Frightlane pass once per maze. But I could be wrong. With where Banshee is, you will run into at least 2 mazes. Club Blood and Wolfpack. Diamondback has the train haunt, and the maze inside the old Tomb Raider building in the area. Everything depends on the weather too. I would try and hit the 2 coasters you want to first. If you want cheaper tickets, go to Kroger. They run around 44.00 a piece. They should have them next to the guest services desk. If anyone is looking to work at KI, we will be hiring for Haunt starting the last weekend of July. Working Haunt is a real scream. Lol.
BoddaH1994
Once per maze is how it's been in past years.
XGatorHead 8904
Also, typically the earlier you go in the Haunt season, the less crowded it should be. As it gets closer to Halloween, expect larger crowds.
Delirium2018
When I go I usually go on Friday. Sometimes Saturday as well. Friday is usually the best day to go. I usually get about every maze in except maybe 1 or 2. But I barely ride, the rides during Haunt because the lines for rides during Haunt are twice of what they are during the regular season. If you want to get a few rides and mazes in try going on a cold Friday. The cold scares the crowds away.
jcgoble3
^ Especially when it's 40°F and raining. (T-shirt and shorts not recommended. )
Gabe
Given the target audience of teens for Haunt, said teens usually are attending HS football games on Friday nights in the fall, so crowds tend to be down. Not to be missed is a night ride on Beast--earlier sundowns mean a lot more time for night rides.
RingMaster
Even the cold can deter normally massive Saturday Haunt crowds. I went on a Saturday in '11 when it was in the low low 40s and was crazy enough to ride Diamondback in said weather (still not as painful as riding SOB during a rain shower), and managed to get through all but two houses (Cut-Throat Cove and CornStalkers) by the time we left at midnight. Best Friday night to go is the second Friday of the event. Usually the second weekend is where most of the kinks are worked out and the monsters/actors know what to do and what not to do when it comes to proper scaring. In terms of what Haunts to hit first, aim for the Action Zone houses first (Slaughterhouse, Club Blood, Wolf Pack). These three have usually had the longest lines during the event as they are the most popular, but now with Banshee open, the area will be even MORE crowded. Also a haunt with an abnormally long line is Tombstone Terrortory; this haunt is really two attractions in one, combining the train with a walk through White Water Canyon's exit. Either hit this as early as possible or wait til the end of the night when crowds begin to die down. Take note that Rivertown this year will receive a third Haunt attraction in-betwixt Beast and The (former) Crypt, meaning the Rivertown strip will be clogged with overflow lines for Tombstone, Cavern of Terror, and TBA Haunt. Their extremely close proximity will be a Guest Flow nightmare. When it comes to rides, Banshee will have the longest lines in the park due to its now infamous night ride experience. Diamondback and Beast are the other two attractions that will have longer lines during the run of the Haunt. Another ride to watch for is Flight of Fear. Due to a Haunt situated immediately opposite the ride (Board 2 Death), and its already-ripe-for-Haunt theme, it remains a classic coaster to ride in the post-season. Expect long lines. Use the shows to your advantage. While not everyone and their grandma will immediately flee the line to partake in a showing of Hot Blooded, lines tend to decrease a little bit during a show, and then increase once the show is over. CarnEvil and CornStalkers are prime examples considering their relatively close proximity to the Showplace Stage.
purdude86
I've usually been able to get a fair amount of stuff in on a Friday but won't likely get to everything without a fright lane or fast pass, but still a good time. Also as said earlier int he season is better and if there is a call for rain that will keep crowds out. Went in 2012 when there was a chance of storms. Never rained but everything was a walk on. thegajone
earlier sundowns mean a lot more time for night rides. By far my favorite aspect of Haunt. On a Saturday you can get up to what, 6-7 hours of night riding time in the park? That is SO much fun IMO.
Delirium2018
You might get more night rides but you also get longer queue lines.
