MarkB.
So I am planning on going to KI tomorrow (Sun.8-31) or Monday and am planning on bringing my 75 year old mother with me as she has taken me to KI many times through the years. So--- 1. One of her KI mainstays was SkeeBall as she played it while I and whoever else went with us rode rides. We always played at the Coney Mall arcade (that is now being remodeled) so where are the SkeeBall machines currently in operation currently? 2.As a Platinum pass holder how do I make use of the $20 bring a friend deal--- Do I just go to the ticket window, show them my pass and 'presto" a $20 ticket or is it more complicated than that? 3. She is pretty mobile (she uses a cane for added stability) on flat surfaces with some quick rest breaks every few minutes.( we go to the Indy 500 and Brickyard 400 every year and does really well and you should see he go when we hit a casino )Now on hills is where she really gets winded and needs a lot more breaks. We might try DA and going down will be Ok but coming back up will be a challenge. So does KI have something to assist in this situation. IDK one of the workers on a "golf cart" or something? I am just concerned a 20 minute walk will turn into 60 minutes in 85 degree heat. She wants to possibly do that as her great grandson is 2 and loves dinosaurs and may be up here in the future and she wants to experience it. Thanks in advance for the responses, Mark
jcgoble3
1. I don't know, maybe someone else here does? 2. Yes, just show your pass at the ticket window. The associate will scan your pass to verify it, then sell you the discounted ticket. 3. I do not believe the trail meets ADA requirements for wheelchair access, so they would have to have some other method of providing accommodation for guests with limited mobility, and I believe it is indeed a golf cart ride. I would recommend asking at Guest Services when you arrive, as they would know for sure. Hope you and your mother have fun!
diamonbackandbeastlover
Or if you are unsure about something and want complete verification always call the park ahead of time before you go.
Magenta Lizard
It shouldn't turn into an extended walk in 85 degree heat Sunday. They aren't calling for it to get much above 80 (and not hit even that until late in the day), but it has a high chance of storming all day. You might want to check the weather before fully committing to Sunday over Monday. I know there is some sort of Skee Ball in the main Coney Mall arcade (the one closer to the front of the park that isn't being made into a Haunt maze), I believe regular and some sort of Bingo version. The arcade by The Beast also has something, I can't remember if there is regular or not, but there is something that has a curved bowling lane that I've been meaning to try. Neither of the other arcades have as many lanes as the one currently closed, but on the other hand, I've only seen them in use once or twice all summer (and I've been there a lot) so you are unlikely to have to fight too much over them. electricsun
There is Skeeball in the arcade next to The Beast - no tickets are given there. If you want tickets for prizes, head to the bigger arcade on Coney Mall. I discovered this a few weeks ago with friends. They have 4-6 regular lanes of Skeeball and 2 with a different aiming zone/point structure.
The Interpreter
I hope you and your Mom have the #bestdayever. (Note to Kings Island: I thought about you, and situations like this one, as I watched the many busses and trams graciously transporting guests to the main gate from the parking lots at Six Flags New England Friday. As I later left the park, i watched the steady procession of trams and busses and started crying. You see, my Mom would have gone to Kings Island in her last years, had only she been able to get to the main gate sans wheelchair--she couldn't. So she didn't. Her last park memories, and many, many dollars, were spent at Dollywood because of that. Either one is serious about appealing to all ages and generations...or one is not. Ponder. And then, ponder some more.)
TombRaiderFTW
There are Skee Ball machines in the Coney Mall arcade near Monster. Those machines will produce tickets. However, that arcade can get a little crazy at times, especially since the other arcade is now closed. The arcade near Beast also has Skee Ball machines and is typically less busy. Those Skee Ball machines (along with the rest of those games) do not give you tickets for playing; they're just there for fun. I hope you have a great time with your family!
jdf21972
Hi Mark, in regards to the Dinosaurs Alive on the steep inclines they do have handrails to help her up those steep inclines. There are benches along the route to help rest as well. If you need more assistance check with the Dino guide to inquire about a motorized cart usage when entering the trail. At the Dino dig site, your mom will have to exit the cart. Hope this helps and have a great day tomorrow. My mom suffered a stroke in '96 and she has difficulty walking and we went the trail in a motorized cart during my company picnic, she enjoyed the exhibit and had a great time with my nephews who are 2 & 4.
MarkB.
Thanks for all the Info--- I saw the forecast for Sun. (off and .on ugly all day) and Mon. (mostly good with some ugly in the afternoon) ( We will probably do 1 lap of the park and then bail out somewhere in the 2-4 pm range, just going to go with the flow) so we went to the casino Sun. and we will be leaving for KI shortly. Vortex
The Skeeball in the arcade has been moved to the bigger arcade next to the monster.
The Interpreter
Monster is a trademark for the name of a ride, one of which is located at Kings Island. As such, it is always capitalized here.
MarkB.
Sorry for the late update but I worked nights this last week so... Update---Me and mom went on Mon. we got in for ERT and dang near got run over multiple times on the walk back towards Banshee and The Bat (I love people run to get to a ride that wasn't running yet---Banshee hadn't done its "test runs" since we got into the parking lots) so I sat her down at the new waiting area near Banshee and rode The Bat twice(last one in the rain)then waited out the rain and went to the arcade---she played while I went to FOF---then I joined in on the fun and we ended up with 2000+ tickets. Then on to DA---Mom really enjoyed it even though we got drenched again on the way out of the valley. (there were a few little ones around the age of her great grandson) Thank goodness for the multiple benches along the path they helped a lot as we needed to stop frequently. We did everything we wanted except for the ET (was closed when we went by) We left around 7P.M. Best day ever---Not quite but pretty close.
