Creed Bratton
Sorry for the double post, but wanted to make sure there was a notification of the updated info: To get to the Soak City Lot: You may have to tell the folks at the tolls you are heading to the Soak City Lot for the resort gate. Follow the red line around to the lot: To get to the resort gate from the Soak City Lot, there are 2 options, I suggest following the orange line for a good view of Magnum:
King Ding Dong
Thanks a ton! That's kind of what it looked like to me but I couldn't tell if that route went inside SC first and it opens an hour later. Looks like a perfect plan for the day now.
Creed Bratton
If you go the Orange route to the resort gate you'll pass the Soak City gate....yeah there are 2 gates in that area which can be confusing. I just recently started using that lot/route and I love it...you beat the crowds to the back of the park
PGalati
Soak City is the best place to park so you can get 5 rides on Maverick during ERT and then head to Top Thrill Dragster by 10 to get a couple rides in and maybe see or experience a rollback. Was there last week and the ride ops for Maverick let us stay on IF our lane was empty. We had two such rides. Edit: It is also nice to be able to go back to the car during the day if you need to rest or regroup in some way. We leave the souvenir bottle in the car until after ERT since TTD requires a locker. The drive in and out of the park is nice too. I typically pull up to the guard booth and then make that left into the parking lot to maybe get a spot under the trees that line the road.

King Ding Dong
All went great yesterday other than my wife called an hour after we left to inform me I dropped my swim suit on the front porch. The boys did not settle down to sleep early enough We'd night so they were very slow moving in the morning so we didn't arrive until 9:30 but they still got a nearly empty train on Magnum. Then moved on to Maverik, TTD, Corkscrew, WT, Dodgems then Gatekeeper. At that point they were coastered out so we moved to SC. It was 2 and everything was turned off for some reason but they said it would start back up soon and we stayed until about 6. SC was the perfect parking place as we were only about 2 rows back. No need for a locker! Security bag checks and wands at both the dry and wet entrances. With all the crap going on in the world I think this is here to stay. Everyone should love this. I asked my oldest what he though of Corkscrew and the word he used was "demeaning".

Sent from the cellphone Zach Morris used in Saved By The Bell using Tapatalk No I didn't want to waste the time as it can be hard finding my size even at Walmart. It was a pleasant day and I was able to find a some shady spots so I just people watched, read on the phone and even got a bit of nap in. when we headed over there we intitially just planned for an hour but they were having fun so we stayed until 6. I think we will do KI next week and are thinking about an overnight stay the 11-12 for my youngest's birthday. Now I am trying to figure out where to stay and what kind of ticket pass to get my wife. The boys and I have platinum, but to take advantage of Soak City and ERT we need to get her one and stay offsite or stay at a CF property and get daily admission for her. Either way will cost a lot. I am leaning toward just getting her a platinum and getting a $80 room, that way we might be able to bring her for day trip or two to KI in the fall as well.
matt112986
Breakers Express will get you ERT and a single use Fast Pass when bundled with a ticket purchase. It was around $80 a night for my dad. Soak City will still be extra though.
King Ding Dong
^ I think it is the time of year. The base room price is $149 for the 11th. That does include ERT and SC. I will keep checking things out. I also just remembered my mom is visiting for Halloween and may enjoy going to KI to see the sights. i have a sister that lives in Paris and mom has been in the really Eifel Tower a couple of times so she might enjoy that. That would be another oportunity for my wife to use her pass if I get one. My wife has a lot of concerts, promotions and vacations to cover in the summer and can be difficult to schedule more than an afternoon off.

When staying up in Sandusky, depending on how close you want to be to the park, there are some cheaper hotels (Non CF property) that are just a great place to lay your head down and helps with the budget. Check America's Best Value Inn (it's an older hotel but not in terrible shape).
King Ding Dong
^ If we were planning on drinking and stuff then staying on site would be a must. To old for getting drunk and spinning around. Unless it is a really nice place and staying multiple nights I don't even bring luggage into motel rooms anymore. Grab a change of clothes and my tooth brush and good to go. Bedbugs.
Creed Bratton
Had a great trip to the park yesterday. Getting into the park was a hassle. I had left my pass at the hotel a few weeks ago before we went to Carowinds so I had to get a new one. Got in there fine, dining plan worked great and all. When I got to Cedar Point yesterday I went to enter the Marina Gate. I saw that when they scanned my pass it popped up a red x....so the girl said my pass wasn't valid. I said...uh...it is. So she went and called someone....she scanned it in the building and said I would be good to go. I went to Guest Services anyway to make sure everything was on it, dining/FunPix, etc. When I got to Guest Services the supervisor (the one who called me to the counter) asked what I was there for. I told her everything. So she went and said yeah, your picture isn't here. I had my pass from before I got a new one and said told them I had my old one with me. So she transferred picture and dining over to the pass. She said I needed to go to a FunPix location to get that transferred over. So across the midway I went. It got transferred over easily and I was well on my way...just a headache to start out my day. I did a lot of walking and just relaxing in the park. I got to finally see All Wheels Extreme (for the first time). I know a cast member so I was happy to see him. Also watched the Lusty Lil's show. I love that show! Overall great day.
The Interpreter
Hopefully, the new pass works at parks other than Cedar Point. It may not. Especially at Kings Dominion or Carowinds. Terp -- who speaks from experience. Too much experience. And whose Kings Island Platinum Pass says Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom right on the back.
jbum123
CP is having issues with platinum's bought at other parks. We went to KI, KD and Carowinds and had no problems. Went to CP and was denied. Passes somehow pulled up as single use only (or so they said) and we had to go to processing to get them fixed. Next trip, two of our 7 came up as already used that day. Will find out Sunday what we will get this time.

malem
At a far-away park, the cost of getting to the front gate is likely to exceed the price of an admission ticket. If my Cedar Fair pass didn't work, and the park wouldn't budge, I suppose I'd buy a ticket, keep my receipt, and take the matter up with Kings Island's Guest Services later. Perhaps requesting a stack of Beagle Bucks.

Creed Bratton
Thankfully they fixed my issue right away. The guy next to me at guest services came in with tickets he ordered on Saturday night....that at the gate said they were invalid. He was ticked and rightfully so. A supervisor in guest services said you know that's our bad...I can see the order here and you are good to go into the park. I personally didn't hear the whole conversation but I am happy the supervisor just let them go into the park without any more hassle.I did get to experience something at the park for the first time (a few things but this one is more interesting)............ Iron Dragon VR! I was one of a few who got to test it out. I won't give away too many details, but the whole process was fairly easy. I hope that if this sticks the either alternate trains or cars. To be honest the ride hosts working with us did much better than those at Six Flags Over Georgia (the park who had the program rolled out publicly). The loading procedure was quick, making sure the headsets were calibrated was not terribly long and we were on our way. You could tell there was a story line and it was a great one to be honest. The graphics were pretty sweet, I didn't feel nauseous. I honestly didn't even feel like I was on a coaster. I had no idea where I was until we were told to take off our headsets. It was kind of funny as we pulled into the brakerun you could tell on the VR things were slowing down but the next thing I heard was "riders how was your ride?, etc." I didn't realize we stopped at all. I honestly would give VR on Iron Dragon a 10 out of 10. That says something for me, the one who was incredibly critical of VR especially at SFOG.
The Interpreter
Or the lunacy at KD in 2001. What year did they say your pass was supposedly from, Terp, 1997?That was in 2011. In 2001, Paramount's Carowinds never gave me a bit of trouble with my Kings Island pass--go to GR, sign in, go in. And yes, in 2011, a park, I believe it was Kings Dominion, tried to tell me my Platinum Pass from Kings Island waa last valid in 1997. And yes, I spent a day driving back home I was going to spend at Carowinds a few years ago. Half an hour from opening, second in line, I got told I'd already been in the park and wasn't coming in that day. After 20 minutes of them trying to call Kings Island (they wouldn't even listen that that park was not open yet, I had a valiant struggle just to get my pass back. So, no, don't tell me they always let people in. They do not. At least not at Carowinds. I've had several Platinum Pass problems since, but none this year. Then again, I've only been to Kings Island Cedar Fairwise this year.

MDMC01
Is Iron Dragon's VR optional?
King Ding Dong
So Terp, what was the resolution to your problems at Carrowinds? I am polite in these kinds of situations, up to a point and then I go thermonuclear. I would have initiated a chargeback with Visa right in front of them and probably not budged from GS until the park manager showed up and personally asked me to leave or security escorted me out. This is interesting because at KI yesterday they cleared out SC at 1:30 becuase a brief storm and told all pass holders they did not need a hand stamp to get back in. My youngest had banged his knee on the surf ride didn't want to walk a ton so we ended up just going home. Is Iron Dragon's VR optional? I think that was just a test. My boys rode it the other week and there was no VR available. Given the inherent issues with current gen VR, I can't imagine any park ever requiring a rider to put on a headset.
IBEW_Sparky
LOL, yeah, I just realized I screwed up and put 2001, and not 2011. That was the same year the Platinum I purchased online from WoF came up as invalid at KD when I tried to turn the paper copy into a hard card. In regards to my KI Platinum, they both worked properly at both parking tolls, and at entry turnstiles at CP when Brad and I went on the 7th and 8th of June. We will see how they work at KD when we go the 17th, 18th,and 19th of July.

electricsun
Three of us were at the park yesterday. I was a bit concerned knowing that there was a double threat of it being a Saturday in July and a high of 81. I was mentally preparing myself for long waits for everything. But as it was a "bachelorette party" for my friend, I already knew it would be different experience from my normal visits and was okay with that. I just didn't want their only trip to CP to be of not riding much and only standing in lines. We left Columbus at 8:30..and after the drive and waiting on the causeway for about 20 minutes, we finally parked at 11:30. After some discussion, we planned to park at Soak City and start at the back of the park and work our way to the front. It ended up being a brilliant plan! The park was clearly busy with lots of people in the park. While we didn't hit TTD, Valravn, or the wooden coasters, we were able to hit all the other coasters and a few flats. Our longest waits were just over an hour for Maverick and MF. We even left to check into the hotel and grabbed dinner and left at 11:30p. The bride-to-be had a wonderful time and it ended up being a great trip to the park. Saturday's aren't always a wash at the parks!
jbum123
And our 4th visit to CP with platinum's this year and our 4th time we have had pass problems. This is getting old. Has happened now on renewal and a new pass this year.
