upstop Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 I was told this happened, however, I cannot find a direct article anywhere. Apparently, internet traffic is restricted from China, however, there are some images on the net. http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=china+frisbee+ride+accident&FORM=HDRSC2 Appears to be a Huss knockoff that rotates 360 degrees. Other than the collapse, I'm not certain of injuries or fatalities. Prayers to all involved. 8 Quote
Vortex Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Theme Park Review has the article. It's not much but has pictures. Looks like the arm with the seats came off and the counter weight hit it. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=70126 6 Quote
Oldiesmann Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 From the pictures it looks like either poor maintenance or inferior manufacturing. Either way, at least nobody was killed. 7 Quote
Oldschool75 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 And kids, this is what happens when you only steal the plans for the design and not the ratings need for materials and maintenance. 12 Quote
Thrill_Biscuit Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 I suppose that when you're told to be an engineer, builder or metallurgist, rather than having a desire to be one, not as much genuine passion is put into the manufacturing process. 2 Quote
upstop Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 AND when an accident happens in China, the ride operator is at fault and takes the brunt of the blame. 6 Quote
thekidd33 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Seeing some of the articles and trip reports from various China trips it wouldn't shock me if the ride operator was also the ride supervisor, the maintenance technician, and the park janitor. I'm glad no one was killed. 5 Quote
Thrill_Biscuit Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 EDIT My remark was below us all. I'm sorry. Quote
Vortex lover Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Well like others have said. I'm glad nobody was killed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 3 Quote
DontWantToWait42mar0 Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 AND when an accident happens in China, the ride operator is at fault and takes the brunt of the blame. As it should be. The ride operator has as good as view as anyone to be able to STOP the ride if something were wrong. Quote
jcgoble3 Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 AND when an accident happens in China, the ride operator is at fault and takes the brunt of the blame. As it should be. The ride operator has as good as view as anyone to be able to STOP the ride if something were wrong. And if there was absolutely no sign of anything being wrong until it was suddenly too late for an e-stop to prevent catastrophe? 3 Quote
DontWantToWait42mar0 Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Then in that rare occurrence, the maintenance worker should be held accountable. Quote
The Interpreter Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 And if the ride is of defective design or manufacture? See? It's not that simple. Life is very simple, unless you actually spend a lot of time thinking about it. 8 Quote

upstop Posted April 10, 2015 Author Posted April 10, 2015 The one thing we have to remember is the ride was most likely designed and built by the government of China (officially), and the government is never wrong in a communist state. I'm sure the ride operator will enjoy their life in a state prison as a political prisoner. 1 Quote
Tanna Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Does anyone else have to Google pictures of some of these rides to find out exactly what they are? there's usually twenty different names for the same amusement ride. 3 Quote
