Coasterstock 2016

Featured Replies

I did noticed that the park opens at 10am on 5/20. Wonder if we can enter the park at open with our ticket, or is it not valid until after 6pm?

*fixed it. Hey it was 5 in the morning. Lol

Thank you to all who attended this year's Coasterstock event.

  • BTW...there will be more than what's listed on the park's website as part of the two days, three nights Coasterstock event. And some of the opportunities listed may be different than what they appear.

  • Recent revelations could certainly expand interest in the event's KI&MVRR tour.

If you bought a non-passholder ticket, it's not valid for admission to the park until 6pm Friday.

If you bought a passholder ticket, you need to use your season pass for admission. In this case, you can (of course) enter the park during the day.

Sadly, I did not remember to register in time, and therefore will not be attending.

But at least I have HoliWood nights to look forward to...

I wonder if DonKIPR will be offering a Twitter Beast tour earlier in the week before Coasterstock like he did last year, as a bit of warmup.

I'm just as interested in the "more besides what is posted" he is talking about.

I'd ask how The Beast tour works, but I think I'll take the element of surprise on that, too.

As previously stated by Don, an email will go out 5-7 days before the event, at which time additional events may or may not be announced.

At the earliest, I would expect an email from him around the weekend, maybe next week closer to the event itself.

I've been on a half-dozen Beast tours, and no two have been exactly the same. So it wouldn't really be a spoiler to explain the group walks back with Don as he talks about The Beast: history, trivia, asks and responds to questions. The group follows some of the maintenance roads around Beast and there are some great opportunities for photos. It is quite enjoyable.

We are 1 week out from Coasterstock and so far the weather forecast is looking great.  Highs in the mid-70's all weekend with a low chance of rain.  Hopefully that forecast holds up over the next week.

Hopefully the email that will be sent this weekend will include the time that I chose for The Beast tour.  Having purchased event tickets in February, I failed to document the time that I chose.  I hope there is some leniency in that department.

Yeah, so much for that good forecast a few days ago.  I just checked and there is now an 80% chance of rain on Friday night, and a 70% chance all day Saturday.  Ugh.

I saw a less-negative forecast today through a different app (Dark Sky), which focuses specifically on rain predictions, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is more correct. I haven't watched its predictions from a week out, but I know it is really good at telling me when rain is about to start. They are only calling for 16% chance Friday and 35% Saturday. At least I own a raincoat now.

Anyone get the email Don mentioned, yet? I'm getting antsy with only four days left.

Looking through my email, last year's was sent in the late afternoon on Monday the week of the event. So maybe expect something today?

I love that app.  I have notifications turned on for when rain in my area starts, and it seems to be super accurate.

I also got the email around 5:00pm this afternoon.  Everything seems to be in order for a great event.  Now we just need Mother Nature to cooperate...

Sadly I will not be a participant of Coasterstock this year but I will be in the park this weekend on 5/21 and 5/22 for my 1st KI trip of the year!!! Have a blast on the ERT and BTS tour for me guys!

Rainy days can be good days to visit KI. Most everything remains operating, and crowds are thin when the skies clear. Hopefully this year's lanyards are more water resistant than last year's.

Rain isn't ideal for a trek through The Beast woods, of course; hopefully conditions are dry for the tour.

According to Weather.com now there is 40% chance of rain Saturday and 20% for Sunday. Friday is still 80%.

At least, for now, it's looking a little better.

Can't wait for this weekend! Hey if it rains on the first night, at least Flight of Fear will be open for ERT haha.

I just checked and I still haven't received my e-mail.

Hope that's not a bad omen.

Check your SPAM folders if you have any. I'm assuming you registered using the web form (where you pick the time of The Beast tour, etc), after the process of buying your ticket?

Yep, sure did.

I'll have to go back and look there.

I don't use my email much. Poor thing is rather neglected.

EDIT: Yea, just checked my spam folder. Not there either.

Eek, that's not good. If you have your confirmation from buying your ticket, tho, I'm sure it is a problem that can be worked out at check-in, if it's really a problem at all.

Also, I made a little Twitter poll for the lead up to Coasterstock, if anyone wants to vote. I'll be doing a different one on Thursday, too. https://twitter.com/maglizrd/status/732543714116145152

Eek, that's not good.

Thank you. :)

That's very reassuring.

I need something to stress about, anyway

Sorry, I didn't mean to be doom and gloom. It probably is a problem somewhere in email, rather than a problem with your registration, I would think.

On the weather front, Dark Sky is now calling for 60-some-percent chance of rain on both Friday and Saturday (nothing Sunday), specifically with light rain starting a little after 8 Friday and continuing through noon Saturday. Light rain is no problem, and that leaves most of the weekend clear. Fingers crossed!
