HoliWood Nights & CoasterMania 2016

Featured Replies

HoliWood Nights at Holiday World and CoasterMania at Cedar Point are happening on the first weekend of June this year.

Note that the HoliWood Nights online registration deadline is sooner than in previous years, and CoasterMania will be a paid event limited to the first 1200 registrants. These events have been very well attended in recent years, so hopefully the conflicting date and more restricted registration makes for more productive ERT at both.

After attending CoasterMania two years in a row, I'm tentatively planning to be at HoliWood Nights for the first time ever.

  • Having paid in advance for an event with capped attendance, I would be rather upset if they let a bunch of unregistered people overcrowd lunch & ERT.

I really want to do HoliWood Nights

Do it! It is one of the best coaster events in the world. You will not be disappointed!

I have done both events for the past two years and IMO Holiwood Nights is much more personal and fun. Holiwood Night's ERT hours, food, and exclusives blow Coastermania away. The big draw for Coastermania is the lineup of rides. Also after last year's debacle at Coastermania (although the issues seem to be fixed by the added fee and limited enrollment) I will certainly choose Holiwood Nights if the event dates run together as they do this year.

I'll be doing Holiwood Nights for the second year in a row. I highly recommend it, especially if you've never been to Holiday World.

I originally planned to be in Alabama that weekend.

I may have to settle for Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, California's Great America and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.

We'll see. I hope.

^ Next week?

Though that's probably correct.....the only date I've heard for ticket availability is "soon".

^ The exact quote from Tony via Twitter:

@TheJohnBdeHaas: @TonyClarkCP Coastermania tickets today? Thanks!

@TonyClarkCP: No - working on an error during testing. But I will post full details today.

Yeah....I seen that earlier today before the details were posted.

Not sure what he meant by "working on an error during testing" but I don't take that as tickets will go on sale next week.

Like I said, your probably right that it'll be next week since I highly doubt they would be posted over the weekend.

Probably an error while testing the sign-up/ticket-purchasing process...

After last years FailMania, if I were still a member of a club, I would without a shadow of a doubt pick HoliWood Nights.

Its limited to a certain amount of attendees this year

Holiwood Nights is something I highly recommend.  I have only missed one since either 07 or 08 (I think 08).  The only reason I would miss is if I absolutely couldn't make it, such as two years ago when I had been to Holiday World and the spring conference the previous weekend and couldn't afford to go.

Seriously - GO!  :)

Unfortunately/fortunately will not be attending either event this year.

Will be taking a trip to see Dolly, then to see some friends in Alabama and to deal with some storm fronts in Kentucky.

I trust you are going on a rampage.

Just don't expect much else dry...

I will be on a rampage....with what has been confirmed with the friends so far, I'll probably be walking on a rampage. :D

^ Intentionally, or via the player picking them up and dropping them in the lake to the north? :P

Tix for #CoasterMania! are going fast. If ur planning on attending, click the link, get the info and purchase soon! https://www.cedarpoint.com/events/things-to-do/events/CoasterMania?mobile=0

Those planning to go should think about registering soon. Tickets are capped at less than half last year's attendance, so they're sure to sell out.

I'm having a hard time making a final decision. Night rides on Maverick & Magnum with <=1000 guests in the park, or ERT on Mammoth?

Look to your avatar for the answer. ;)

Seriously though, HoliWood Nights is always an awesome event. With the general mess at last year's Coastermania and the significant changes this year, it's a bit of an unknown quantity. If I were planning to go to one of them, I'd hit HWN and wait for the reviews of Coastermania to see if it's worth heading north next year.

All of what he said, plus two.... rare-gotten night rides on Thunderbird and Voyage.  That alone, kills the competition, the pure and total darkness (with the exception of any possible moonlight) on the back 2/3 of Voyage is just..... words fail to describe.

I know some really dont like the ride, and in 2011-2014 I didnt either, but last year it totally redeemed itself to me.

I am going to be attending Coastermania! I really feel like the cruise is going to be an excellent element of the day. Also, considering Maverick is my favorite coaster, nothing sounds better than hours of ERT on it.

As of an hour ago, there were less than 50 tickets remaining for CoasterMania, according to Tony Clark via Twitter.

I have yet to decide between the two events. I bought a CoaserMania ticket before they sold out and have a hotel reservation in Indiana. Yes, I sometimes get called indecisive.

If I don't end up using my CM ticket, hopefully I can find another GOCC member to take it at half price, as I haven't assigned it to a name. If I end up in Sandusky, and someone would want to use my Ferdinand hotel reservation (made last summer before rates went up), I could refrain from cancelling it.

Just a heads up that one week from tomorrow (Sat, May 21) is the online registration deadline for HoliWood Nights. On-site registration adds $15/person.

...known in HoliWood Nights terminology as the dreaded Procrastination Tax. :P

HoliWood Nights online registration has been extended through this Saturday.

No, I still haven't made up my mind. Whether my procrastination will be taxed remains to be seen.

CoasterMania must be doing far better than the Indiana event.

Who knew?

Last year, I was in Alabama.

This year, I'll be prepping The Milliner's Tale.

And plotting a later rampage.
