The Interpreter Posted July 23, 2016 Author Posted July 23, 2016 Before the new computerized elevators, such problems were seldom seen. And be careful. *I* *WORK* in DC. 5 Quote

Oldiesmann Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 According to the New York Times, this time the problem was a bearing failure: http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2016/07/29/us/politics/ap-us-washington-monument.html And they're already looking to modernize it to fix the issues. Hopefully that will include a thorough review of all maintenance/repair procedures to ensure that's all being done properly. 2 Quote

King Ding Dong Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 If only TTD had the same uptime as the Washington Monumnet. Maybe adding another 100 feet would help. 4 Quote
King Ding Dong Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 More height, power and some cowbell should do the trick. 3 Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 15, 2016 Author Posted August 15, 2016 WTOP: A tripped circuit breaker. Perhaps the heat. NPS says the Monument will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so. 3 Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 15, 2016 Author Posted August 15, 2016 ...which apparently was 9AM this morning, Monday. Another heat advisory today, too. Stay tuned. 3 Quote
