malem
I redeemed dining plan meals at Kings Island three days in a row at Coasterstock, and I must say that there has been a marked improvement in food service from the first few weeks of operation. Lines at most locations moved quickly, and each meal I redeemed was freshly prepared and served hot. Service was friendly, as well. There's still room for improvement, but there has been a huge step forward from the early weeks of the season.
BoddaH1994
You went on a weekend which is much easier to staff. Hopefully we will see service more like this as the schools let out.
flightoffear1996
I have been on weekends and weekdays this year. Been horrible every visit this year. Hopefully this is a good sign.
Outdoor Man
I've had season passes for longer than I care to admit. From where I sit, it seems like the training and/or quality of staff this year (food service and rides) isn't exactly as bad as a Cincinnati Reds Bullpen... but it's in the same conversation.
stashua123
I would agree with malem, EXCEPT for Chicken Shack. I waited 30 minutes for my food from that place, they ran out of food twice and we had to wait 10 minutes for the food to come out, and then I tasted it. The Chicken was like Breaded Pork Chops.... which was something I did not want.... the fries were good, but still.... not worth 15$. Every other food I had on Saturday was absolutely worth it. I love some good Coney Mall Fries!
DontWantToWait42mar0
I wouldn't be so generous to call it food.
Creed Bratton
My issue with Chicken Shack (as found out on Monday) is that they had 1 cashier and folks wanting to refill souvenir bottles. I had waited in line for a few minutes, as I go to get my drink (3 free water cups) a young teenaged girl enters through the exit and tries to get her drink at the same time I am. I could have been nice and let her get it, but I was tired of standing in line. As I filled my first cup, to get the 2nd, she tried to reach in and fill hers, I said "not done yet, sorry." Then as I filled the 2nd and went to go get the 3rd she tried to reach in to fill hers, I said "still not done." I wish the drink area was set up differently in there or the lines for the registers were better placed.
disco2000
^I have well documented this problem in other threads. I have seen improvement recently, but it does still happen unfortunately and yes it is a royal pain and bog down of the total line.
shark6495
I don't disagree waiting in line for a drink refil but my question would be for this scenario, and maybe I'm a huge jerk but I accept that these days. Let's say we are in line you are ahead of me. You stop to order food and all I'm doing is getting a drink. While you wait for your food is it okay for me to go by and get my drink filled while your plate is being made? Or must I wait for you to finish and then you go to the drink line and then me? Personally I would say I could pass (I'm not passing like 5 people just 1 or 2 if they are waiting for food. Also probably not as big of a deal as more and more drink stations get added. (I love the one outside kiddie area by Diamondback, it has lemonade which is okay for a lil one) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Creed Bratton
If someone is behind me while I'm waiting on my food, absolutely they are more than welcome to pass me to get a drink. What frustrated me I guess was the girl came in the exit, I had my food at the drink station, starting to fill my cups and she kept trying to reach in to get her drink, like I didn't just wait in the line that was at the door, I was in the process of filling my drinks and/or she came in the exit semi blocking the way to the cash register.

Is it ok to let someone line jump a ride line cause they say they want the back row and you want the front row? Now if I am at Chicken Shack and my salad is being made and the 1 person behind me asks me politely "do you mind a go around I just have a drink" maybe then. But what if I am just getting a meal and not getting a drink and said person jumped in front of me and is now at cashier getting drink paid for or scanned when I could have been the person at the cashier checking out - now what happens when 8 people jump the food line just to fill a drink. Now I am waiting for 8 people to finish at cashier - and this happened to me ALOT last year. There is a reason the food places have a sign that says "place order here" and "pick up order here" or an entry and an exit. KI is making good strides at preventing this as I posted in another thread. Adding queue lines to I-Street LaRosa's makes it a lot harder for a drink refiller to jump the line. Chicken Shack keeps exit locked from outside entry and stops a lot of what was happening and re-configured the queue line to make it harder to bypass. The drink stations should help as well, as long as they are open and people use them.
shark6495
If I'm legit waiting for the front row and they want to go around me to the back row, yes that's cool with me. We all have the hills we want to die on... Also my tag line is a quote from a movie where the main lead begins losing his grip on reality and plays the part of a super hero defending his sense of justice Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The drink stations should help as well, as long as they are open and people use them. So can I place my drink order at the sign or do I have to make it myself? If I ask and you say no are you going to box me out if I try to pass? Go all Lebron guarding the key? The reason I ask these questions because there is no yes/no answer. To make it seem like there is one is sort of mad. Yes people walking through the exit is bad they should wait in line. But should I wait while you (figurative) decide if you want cheese or pepperoni and then figure out what your 3 kids want when all I'm going to do is slip by and fill my drink cup. Yes you are now in line behind me but while I was filling my drink order you were filling your food order. I'm not talking about bypassing an entire queu of people or walking in an exit. I'm not talking about bypassing a line of people waiting to fill their drinks. But if you and I are the only ones in line and you are waiting on your salad I'll probably just say excuse me get my soda and pay for it while you put your salad on your plate, then get your drink then get in line. If you complain, I'll let you in front of me to pay while sort of laughing and shaking my head. Sorry for the double post enough time went by and I had more to say didn't feel it was good board etiquette to edit the post that had been sitting Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
disco2000
^Yea in that scenario I am ok with someone (notice one) going around if they stood in line and when it got to the point of get food and/or drink and you only were getting a drink, yea you will be long gone before I make it to cashier. The problem is the group that comes through the exit or someone that comes through the entrance and skips past everyone in line just to fill a drink and then almost everyone in line just for a drink decides to do same thing. Last year this happened every time I went to Chicken Shack - maybe I just have bad luck lol, but a group would come through the exit just for drinks just as I was getting my plate handed to me, so I forego getting a drink and bypassed them and went to cashier. When cashier would try to upsell the cup - you know the line - "Would you like to buy a souvenir cup and save money on drinks?" I would simply reply that until KI gets this line jumping of drinks controlled why would I want to stand even longer in a line to now fill up a cup behind 6-8 people that came through the exit simply to fill drinks.
