In a sense it's a large rapids ride with a series of alternate channels that allows you to raft or kayak down, and a ropes course. While I don't know for certain I'd imagine the water treatment process is different than what occurs in a tradional water park. That said it is a horrific incident and while the center seems like the likely culprit we may likely never know for certain, and there's not a ton that can be done to prevent such for those of us who enjoy fun in the water in the hot summer months. Cooler waters are safer and it's best not to stir up the bottom especially when your face is near it. Such a sad situation but don't live in fear. Editing before I even actually post it- Seems that they do in fact actually treat the water quite rigurously and possibly even more so than most water parks. Quite scary, but shouldn't keep you from wanting to go swimming in lakes and such.
