January 19, 20215 yr I'm sure people back then probably thought the SOB was going to be just as good as The Beast, but people slowly realized that their was no comparison and The Beast reigned supreme.
January 19, 20215 yr Never rode it but if people say SOB was rougher than The Beast than I would have hated it. For me, it's hard to enjoy The Beast because it's so jarringly rough. I would have not liked SOB.
January 19, 20215 yr There's a significant fanbase SOB still has even 9 years post mortem. Some people just prefer forceful and even rough coasters.
January 19, 20215 yr Son of Beast was extremely rough. One of the few coasters that gave me bruises on my thighs from the vibration and shaking that the ride did.

My wife at the time got off the ride in tears once. It was very rough depending on where the G train restrains hit your thighs. I personally loved that first drop. Still probably my favorite wood coaster drop ever. By the time you got back to the station though you were pretty beat up.
January 19, 20215 yr The front row on those G trains ran fairly smooth imo. I would typically always wait for the front row for this reason. It was my favorite ride at the park during this time.
January 19, 20215 yr Yes, the first drop was amazing. The rest of the ride was just meh. I actually rode Hurricane at Myrtle Beach Pavilion, before it closed, and the trains made their way to Son of Beast. I am glad we got Banshee on the site of Son of Beast. I can`t say that I miss Son of Beast, even with the first drop.
