March 27, 200521 yr Skylab was really a great ride. Cedar Point has one like it (Witches Wheel), but ours was a larger version. I just think it's a shame that it was removed, although I understand that there were reasons. I just wanted to get your takes on the ride.
March 27, 200521 yr I rode the one at Cedar Point and I though it was pretty borining IMO. Im kinda glad PKI got rid of this ride but they should have put a jump 2 in its place.
March 27, 200521 yr That is one of my favorite rides at CP. Brings back great memories of my childhood.
March 27, 200521 yr Spiining wheels or "enterprises" are pretty fun but when KI got rid of theirs they shouldve put a real flat ride in there. Not some stupid pay to play attraction.
March 27, 200521 yr I rode one of those at a carnival once, it was pretty much fun but kinda made me sick...lol
March 27, 200521 yr For a moment there, I thought this topic was about me. I, quite obviously, remember the ride with fondness. Enterprises are one of my favorite flats. It's kinda cool to be upside-down with no restraint. I was a little saddened when ours was removed, but thankfully, they're not too hard to come by at other parks. In a smaller size, of course.
March 27, 200521 yr I remember riding it just a few times the season before it sat SBNO for a whole year. To think, it was replaced by a climbing wall that's not even there anymore...
March 27, 200521 yr I remember that climbing wall, it was called the Edge. Then they have that large Jacob's Ladder.
March 27, 200521 yr Author Don't forget the Pay2Play attraction either, whatever it's called. That I think is a waste of money, and apparently other guests do too, because I hardly ever see anyone on it.
March 27, 200521 yr Well there is the basketball game on the side by The Racer. Then there is the CyberSez virtual reality game, which is really fun to watch the people playing that game, because they look so silly screaming, stomping and wave their hands in midair. It would have been nice had they replaced Skylab with another flatride, although the same can be argued for the old Flight Commander location.
March 27, 200521 yr They defienntly shouldve replaced skylab with another flat i hate it when they put in stupid pay to play attractions that a majority of the guests dont do. THe rock climbing wall was a flop, so is the virtual reality. They couldve atleast made it a nice quite shaded area with trees where everyone can just relax. Pay to PLay attractions really annoy me. I know they make the park money but I already paid a S**t load of money for a pass or ticket plus spen about 10 bucks on food and a drink. KI has way too hgih of prices to have pay to play attractions. But I guess thats how it goes. Carowinds still has their enterprise and it is a blast!
March 27, 200521 yr Witches Wheel is an awesome ride. Seeing as how all Enterprises are alike, I bet Skylab was awesome too.
March 28, 200521 yr Pay to Play... Sucks! We wasted money and time on the one thing were you see all the people kicking and screamin. Thats 5 minutes of wasted ride time!
March 28, 200521 yr Enterprises like witches wheel and skylap are terrific. You go upside down without and over the head restraints and the g-forces you feel are awesome its great!
March 28, 200521 yr Don't forget the Pay2Play attraction either, whatever it's called. That I think is a waste of money, and apparently other guests do too, because I hardly ever see anyone on it. Simon Cez and yes, it's terrible.
March 28, 200521 yr Skilab was alot of fun. Then they took the ride out for a pay for rock wall. Wish they just take all the pay for rides out and build some more falts in the areas. Kings Island would have two very big areas in Action Zone and two small ones in Coney Mall.
March 28, 200521 yr I remember Skylab, but that was back when I was scared to go upside down. I too dislike pay to play attractions. Does CP have any of these, or are they all in Challenge park?
March 29, 200521 yr I don't know if anyone here knows the answer, but I remember not long after they took Flight Commander down they had a sign at the Flight Commander site saying, "A new attraction is dropping in here next season. Of course, the next season nothing happened, but then I believe the following season is when they put Drop Zone in. Was that Flight Commander spot where they originally were going to put Drop Zone? I remember thinking that sign hinted at some kind of freefall ride, but nothing came of it until a few seasons later when they put that pay-to-play trampoline thing there.
March 29, 200521 yr yes during the 96 season they did have a small sign saying something about watch something fall here in 96. I believe the park felt that having a Drop Tower inplace where a woman unfortantly fell off flight commander would not be a very good idea. I did like riding skylab, I like enterprises but skylabs being bigger I felt had I different feeling when you came over the top. To bad the ride had hydraulic problems. I was on the crew during its last season in 97, and I was working exit when it broke down for the last time.
March 29, 200521 yr watch for something fall here in 97 not 96 sorry. I saw the sign after waiting in line for 3 hours to ride fof
