pkikid Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 Does anyone have or know if there is any photos of the Bavarian Beetle? I used to live by Kings Island until '78 and I don't remember this thing. Where was it? What was it? Can anyone help? Thanks Quote
KIBeast Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 Usually, rcdb.com has a ton of coasters, current and defunct. I was just trying to find a pic of Bavarian Beetle, but rcdb seems to be having a problem right now. I just went back to rcdb and they don't have any pics. I also tried Coasterbuzz, but no luck there either. Quote
pyrocoasterkid Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 Here is a ride with that is the same make and model as the Bavarian Beetle...] Similar Ride There was quite a few of these made, from the looks of RCDB. Im not totally sure, but I imagine all are the same except color... Quote
Reclaimer Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 Ya'know...it ALMOST looks safe in this pic: http://www.americalovescrap.com/gallery/vi...varian_Beetle_2 Quote
Oldiesmann Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 Ya'know...it ALMOST looks safe in this pic: http://www.americalovescrap.com/gallery/vi...varian_Beetle_2 Ooo... Old PKI photos! I vaguely remember that Big Slide. When was that taken out? (sorry for being off topic). Quote
Crispy1979 Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 yeah, the moved the slide to HBland for a while where it was repainted and called "Scrappy's Slide." Cris Quote
flightoffear1996 Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 What is with that site. www.americalovescrap.com Bavarian Beetle looked kind of fun with all of those helixes. I wish I could have gotten to ride. Quote
KIBeast Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 It was a very fun coaster. The helix was really intense. Quote
DA RIPPER Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 I forgot the cars were so small, Imagine having those cars on the S.O.B or beast that would be a killer ride. Quote
KIBeast Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Except the cars wouldn't have enough weight to complete the circuit. Quote
DA RIPPER Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 That's true . Add a motor to the track for a boost in slow areas and we got a new varience to ride. Just a thought. Quote
BoddaH1994 Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 I've heard a lot of people say that they removed the ride for mechanical reasons, but from what I understand, the ride was moved from Coney Island. Now, would they bother to move a ride that was having major problems? Probably not. It's more logical that they removed it because you can go to any church festival and ride a galaxy style coaster like that. Quote
KIBeast Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 ^ I have heard for years that it was having a problem valleying in one certain spot when it rains. Of course like Judge Judy says, if it sounds ridiculous, it probably is. Quote
Gordon Bombay Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 If you want to ride a ride like Bavarian Beetle there is the same make and model at Americana/Lesourdsville Lake in Middletown, unfortuanently Americana is SBNO Quote
KIBeast Posted May 22, 2005 Posted May 22, 2005 ^Um, he said that Americana is Standing But Not Operating...meaning it's not open. Quote
BoddaH1994 Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Yes, you can ride it if you break into the park, find the coaster cars, install them on the track and then get some electric to the ride. lol What a shame Americana closed. I'm hoping some of their historic rides will find a new home if the park doesn't reopen. Cris Crispy -- Click here. Let us know how it goes. Ryan Quote
