Ok lets say that it is between 35 and 40 outside. Now factor in a coaster at PKI lets say Beast or SOB running at a top speed anywhere between 60 and 75 mph, depending on what rider you are on. Now that we have factored in the speed of the coaster moving through the fridgid, but above freezing air, I believe you can see we have a wind chill to consider. Ahhh yes meterology, any moron can figure it out. Thats right we now have a 60 to 75 mph 35 degree wind in our face for the next couple of minutes. I dont know about you, but my snot is freezing.....

blink.gif Cant wait to see that on ride photo

Reminds me of the promo poster on the fence at the exit of The Beast. It features four kids who are clearly freezing having long sleeve coats on and clinching the lap bar like it's their mom.

Well, I would imagine that they will have the heat on. That is also why I believe they opened up a Skyline on International Street. So that there is an indoor heated area for the dining tables.

have they released maps with the "open" attractions yet? I assume that about 50% of the park will be accessible. The pond back by Rivertown will be illuminated, so it will be open back to there and probably to those restrooms (blocked off towards Vortex though)... Cant' imagine much of Coney Mall being open, though FOF could be... and there isn't much to do in 20 degree weather in the Action Zone area.

Though if they said that for one day The Beast would be open I would be willing to bet between 90% of the population on this site would fill the line.... someone needs to come up with a spoof of the movie "Fever Pitch" with some of the people on this site in regards to PKI. I'd buy a ticket..... (maybe at the dollar movie)

TR:TR will apparantly be unable to operate this Winter due to some extra "maintenance" being performed on it, or so I`ve heard. In past Winterfest`s they also had the bumper cars open. It would be nice if they opened those up and FoF, but for this season anyway they don`t plan on doing so.

I cant wait til WinterFest and if PKI has SDATHC's heat on why dont they ever turn on the A/C during the Summer? I worked in there once to help out and I was burning up!

they had the bumper cars open for winterfest? not disputing, but I don't remember that. I remember the horse carriage rides going back through Coney Mall and the place being pretty much desolate...... and creepy.

I remember in 92, the year Phantom theater opened... and it being soooooo cold out (during WinterFest)- the furnace room at the end of the ride...... oh, yea- that hit the spot... then you walked out and froze again.

Did WinterFest run in 1993 or was 1992 the last year?

They had the Dodgems open for the final Winterfest in 1992. Paramount had decided to extend the operating season through the end of October (as opposed to the middle of October) and thus they deemed that they would not have time to properly set up for Winterfest. This year, they are bringing in outside contractors to help transform the park from FearFest to Winterfest. Preparations have already commence with the fountain, and even some work has been going on at The Eiffel Tower, in the form of some new electrical conduit showing up on the front two support legs.

I don`t know. I know when they held Winterfest last time, that the lights for the tree extended in front of the tower. (They had the path under the tower closed, as the lights extended all the way into the grassy area in front of the supports and across the midway in front of the tower. At the base, of the strands, if memory serves me right, they had large concrete cyclinders to anchor the strands of lights. The conduit could be for the lighting. But I also heard that they may have some other special lighting effects on the Eiffel Tower other than the giant tree. (AKA backlighting the structure or something along those lines.

No, in 1992, the park was open until the second weekend in October. When the park first opened, yeah it didn`t stay open past September.

In 1992 the park was owned by Paramount. The park started staying open later when Paramount took over operations.

From the concept video, it looks as if they're going to use similar technology to what they used for Nights of Fire.

I was workin one night and on the way out me and some other people saw hte eeifel tower all lit up and it was sOOOOO cool!!!! It was like Nights Of Fire but 10 times better and brighter.. My area manager told me they were practicing for WinterFest.. I wish they would do those backlights every night though.. Fearfest and nights of fire eeifel tower were nothing compared to this!!

On Rides Associates games night they had some lighting on the tower that could be seen perfectly from the highway. Its a shame they dont do that all the time, it would make the tower look very nice.
