Gordon Bombay
Its pretty much common sense that The Racer train was not running on SOB and I highly doubt that The Bat train was running on Top Gun.
WooferBearATL
Any one have a picture of a Racer train running on SOB? Last time I heard something like this a friend tould me he saw a Bat train on Top Gun the day after the crash of one the trains. While I am not sure if The Bat is still around in train at PKI anyone know? LORD! If The Bat Trains are laying around the park somewhere I'm certain that they're not in any condition to be run on ANY coaster.
CoastersRZ
Well, for years they had a wheel assembly/car mount to one of The Bat cars, sitting in plain site from The Vortex station. It was laying unprotected right next to the footings for the turn into the midcourse break run. Then around 1999 or 2000 they removed it from its location. Others may remember seeing it as well. And no, I`m sure there are no significant parts of The Bat`s train left. I`m not sure what the park did with that piece. They might have moved it to one of the various graveyards. RailRider
I agree MeanStreak gives a worse beating than SOB afterall it was designed after the Texas Giant at SFOT. Two of the roughest woodies out there. I heard a rumor that they are starting to run a KingCobra train on SOB, Togo is going to be contracted to retrack SOB also. I cant wait till I can ride standing up on SOB
Hank
On that note about TOGO and the King Cobra car, I wonder if the Taxi Jam train would work on SOB?
coastergirl
I wondered why they were saving the Antique Cars. They must be getting ready to fit them for the SOB track also.
Vortex
back on topic Do you think PKI will redesign the SOB to make it feel a little better when you ride. Sure it would cost alot of money but it would save alot of money in the long run having a good coaster in the park that does not hurt so much. Mean Streak does hurt with breaks all over it. Don't sit in the front it hurts.
Mikewhy
I have ridden both Son of Beast and Mean streak and I did not think either of them were all that bad. I was in the very front seat on Mean Streak and it was actually a fine ride, although all that braking was annoying. I did notice that the people in back of us thought it was rough, so maybe it varies based on what seat you are in. I did not find Son of Beast all that bad. It was rough and jumpy, and at times felt like it was going over speed bumps on the track, but I did not find it painful at all, and rather enjoyed it most of the time. I did sit in a center seat since I heard they are smoother than a seat over a wheel. Maybe I caught it on a good day, but I really did not think it was all that bad. I rode The Villian at Geauga Lake, and that one definitely hurt me much more! But I would also like to see any change that would make it a more enjoyable experience for all... coastergirl
I think that the best seat on SOB is the 2nd seat in the 1st car. We stand in line for that set every time we ride it and while it is still bumpy it's not nearly as bad as sitting over the wheels.

FOF/Z 4-ever
WOW, I am supprised no one even brought up the idea that someone may have gotten injured on SOB and that is why it is closed.
flightoffear1996
I heard from somewhere that 2 riders actually broke their necks back when it opened. I think the park need to quit soaking money into and have it SBNO until they can find out what to do with it. THere is no reason to take a chance of someone getting hurt and ruining the parks decenet saftey recorded.
WooferBearATL
WOW, I am supprised no one even brought up the idea that someone may have gotten injured on SOB and that is why it is closed. Very well a possibility or it simply could be that it has become too great of an insurance risk to maintain in it's present condition. I <3 Nick Roedl
yes i herd about this 2 i am very sad cause the son of The Beast is one of my fav rides in the park!!!!!
Gordon Bombay
First off, if there was some type of accident that was serious enough for PKI to be forced to close the ride, the state would be launching an investigation and you would know about it. The ride would not be running if it was safe for people to ride and not get hurt. Yeah its rough, but its not even close enough to be able to break your neck! Yes, people have come off with broken necks, i remember reading about that, they also had previous neck injuries and were not supposed to be riding and lost their suit against Kings Island. KIBeast
I agree Legend Rider. I've tried to get people to speak well and try to type complete coherent thoughts, but, it's a losing battle. On topic, after riding the Big Dipper at Geauga Lake, SOB seems pretty smooth. I thought it gave some good rides this year.

Not necessarily The state would only investigate if there were a suspected crime or that some regulation were not followed. The ride would not be running if it was safe for people to ride and not get hurt. Not true. I would venture to say that the insurance company that insures Paramount's Parks has settled a number of claims associated with Son of Beast. Yeah its rough, but its not even close enough to be able to break your neck! Yes, people have come off with broken necks, i remember reading about that, they also had previous neck injuries and were not supposed to be riding and lost their suit against Kings Island. It's not likely that any of these would ever reach trial. There simply is too much to lose. All of these claims would be settled between the insurance companies claims representatives, legal council and the injured party.

CoastersRZ
Actually, I believe that any injury that occurs as a result of an injury on an amusement park ride in Ohio is subject to a State of Ohio Department of Agriculture- Rides Safety Division investigation. They are the ones that decide whether a ride is safe to operate in Ohio every year after inspecting it. I know for a fact that they not only inspect the rides, but make sure the ride operators are enforcing the height restrictions, and following all rules and procedures properly. They also check up on the rides paperwork. I was working last summer when one of the state inspectors mad a surprise visit to Coney to check up on the rides` paper work and to observe the operations of the rides. A couple days later, I saw the same guy at The Beast exit, observing things at The Beast.

Braves0511
I rode it for the first time this year in the very back setat and honestly enjoyed it. The only problem I had with it is that i am a bit bigger than some (for now) and it was really freaking difficult to get into the thing. Once I was wedged in though I had a fairly enjoyable ride. FOF/Z 4-ever
I was not being serious when I said that I am supprised no one even though about asking if someone was injured. I know how the park runs especially if someone did get hurt. As it was mentioned before, they are just doing some work to it to make it a better ride. DeLorean Rider
I think intamin should put prefabricated track on it Why? It would still have the problems that it has right now. The design of the entire ride is what makes it rough. What do you mean the design of the entire ride, have you looked at colossos. Lots of same types of elements as SOB. Plus its just barely shorter and goes 75 mph and its supposed to be amazing. Personally i think that is just about the only option ki has left with sob. And it CERTANLY couldnt hurt it.
