TOPGUN1993
Cedar Point is getting a new ride SKYHAWK !!!!!!! http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/inside_pa...thrill/skyhawk/
RailRider
Ahhh yes the S&S Screemin Swing. Looks great and glad to see CP adding some new flat rides. MaXair and Skyhawk are great additions and CP needed something to add to just ridding coasters.
Guest faceoff
The park closest to me is kennywood park in pittsburgh, pennsylvania. They are also installing the same ride for 2006 named swing shot.
WooferBearATL
Now that looks awesome. Just think - they coupld put that right about where SOB's first hill used to be. errrrrr - Never Mind. <G>
jzarley
I'm still hoping to see a "Sky Swatter" (or whatever they're called) at CP, GL, or PKI in the next few years. But, in the meantime, the Screaming Swing will suffice... What's the capacity on that thing? Just looking at it, it looks a little low for CP standards... RailRider
I think it said 800, which is pretty good for a flat.
jzarley
I think it said 800, which is pretty good for a flat. Yeah, that's really good for a flat... I just read the long version of the press release. Each arm will hold 20 riders, or a total of 40 in a cycle. That's a lot better capacity than what I guessed from the picture. teenageninja
That's theoretical capacity, it will probably be closer to 650.
Captain Nemo
I would think MaxAir and Skyhawk would offer a same kind of expiriance.
Browntggrr
It is a nice addition for CP. What surprises me is the price reduction of $5.00 for general admission as well as some other admission prices for smaller children and seniors. According to the press release CP is also going to be dropping some food prices. I'm glad to see that some buisnesses are finally listening to consumers. WooferBearATL
WOW!!! A decrease in prices on admission. I'm thinking that news of that is going to pretty much rock the theme park industry.
Gordon Bombay
Isnt that thing just a double armed, non spinning, lowe capacity maXair/Delerium?
Captain Nemo
Isnt that thing just a double armed, non spinning, lowe capacity maXair/Delerium? Basically.
Gordon Bombay
Im glad to see CP putting in flats but uhm its like putting in the same ride two years in a row, is that the only thing their getting?
Skippy
Their saving up for the new coaster that will take the place of White Water Landing in 2007 I agree with CombatStupendous89 though, nice to see the flats but why so similar? CoastersNSich
Im glad to see CP putting in flats but uhm its like putting in the same ride two years in a row, is that the only thing their getting? So far, their only capital investment for the 2006 season is Skyhawk, although the site of White Water Landing will surely be busy for a 2007 project. DeLorean Rider
I think its cool to that theyre getting this, but is it just me or do max air and skyhawk seem relativily similar. It just seems that getting a gaint swinging ride two years in a row is kinda redundant. Not that skyhawk wont be awesome, it just seems like they maybe should have gone for a ride that thrills you in a different way then swinging you back and forth. DonaldMacRonald
^Thats a good point, MAXAIR does have the spinning effect, but they still are extremely similar to be put in two consecutive years.
Gordon Bombay
^Yeah, just as we've been saying for awhile, Skyhawk is a lower capacity, non spinning maXair... this makes me wonder if theyre going to be adding something else. I just dont see how they want to attract people with this attraction........ "Last year you waited in a long line then spun in circles and swung for a few minutes....now do it again this year but wait even longer and dont spin!! IN 2006 the thrills come yet again to Cedar Point." Maybe theyre trying to save some money.

The-Snapper
I would think MaxAir and Skyhawk would offer a same kind of expiriance. no not at alll one goes up and down and the other spins
tubaman
If Skyhawk went all the way around, now that would be awesome.
Gordon Bombay
I would think MaxAir and Skyhawk would offer a same kind of expiriance. no not at alll one goes up and down and the other spins All skyhawk is, is a non spinning delerium/maXair, I dont see how it could be much different. gilbert gnarley
it will be a nice addition to frontiertown. Cedar Point is quite creative on ride placement on the peninsula. they will put it on a small sliver of space next to town hall museum. it will certainly liven up that portion of the park. hopefully, in june or july this summer, we will see concrete being poured on the wwl site. flightoffear1996
Yea they should have it go all the way upside down.
Captain Picard
Any more info about this BIG PROJECT RIDE FOR 2007?? I heard rumors of something 600 ft and a Gyro Drop. If you add the rumors you get a 600ft Gyro Drop. GL will get a copy of it and when your at the top you will see the one at Cedar Point.
Gordon Bombay
^That would be pretty cool, doesnt seem feasible or tangible though but that would be really cool if you could get to the top and see another one at GL but arent they too far away?
Captain Picard
Too far away and there is a rumor that GL has a height restriction. I can see Cedar Point getting a Gyro Drop because its a good ride.
flightoffear1996
I dont think they would go for a gryo drop because well they got power tower first off all and if they would want to get a free fall ride they would probaly just get one like PKD's which is much more faster and higher capcity.
