IAAPA always sounds really cool. You can go and be the first to ride some of the new rides that are coming out - before anybody even finds out about them. Plus you get to see some of the new concepts - like the Intamin 4D coaster. And you can meet people like Bolliger and Mabillard.

If they ever had it around here I would definately go.

Well, I doubt they will have it around here. They seem to have it in warmer areas, like Atlanta and Orlando. IAAPA is not just about the trade show either. Many of the theme parks around the country are involved in the organization. For example, this coming year, Vic Nolting, (Coney Island`s general manager) as well as Will Koch from Holiday World will be on the board of IAAPA.

I don`t think PKI or Paramount will release anything at IAAPA that has not already been made public. I would assume PKI will officially unviell all the details of Nick Univers in January, as they have stated before. They will then have renderings of what the new area will look like. Although, it will be interesting to see what Zamperla has set up in their booth, as many of the new rides rumored to be coming to PKI are apparantely coming from them.

Has it ever been in the cincinnati area? I have always wanted to go but it has never been near.

It requires a bigger convention space than the Cincinnati convention center can offer. However, I thought that they had smaller regional shows, but I might be confusing IAAPA with another organization...

Unlikely the international show will come anywhere too close. Because the attractions are actually set up in the exhibit space, the contiguous space has to be huge. The only one that even comes close in the region is the Cleveland IX Center (800K of contiguous space), but that's small compared to Orlando (2.1M sq ft) and Atlanta (1.4M sq ft.) The centers in Columbus & Indianapolis are about equal (425K and 400K), but are still too small, and they're both each about twice the size of Louisville, Nashville, and Cincinnati convention centers (ever after its current expansion...)

The McCormick Center in Chicago would definitely be big enough...and that's only a 45 min. cheap flight!

This is the first year in a long time that the international show hasn't been held in Orlando.
