WooferBearATL
It always amazes me every year. The Disney Christmas Parade is basically at 2 Hour Commercial for the parks. The thing that amazes me is just how bad the lip synching is with the performers. It's almost like watching an old Kung Fu movie that is dubbed. italianchef
It was on at 10 a.m. We missed it! I didn't see it in the TV Guide until now. I wish they'd replay it. Merry Christmas! Italian Chef

tubaman
I didn't catch the parade...but I have been to WDW not to long after Christmas, and they were pre-recording things for the New Years Eve thing one night. We had a heck of a party at the Grand Floridian.

mullimann
The Disney Parades are all pre-recorded in the months of October and November, sometimes early December. The Performances are done early and at the artist open times. The lipsinc is done at Disneys request since the entire sound system is computer controled, and the fact that they want the best sound on the program. I have been there when the parades are taped and have seen it where they will have an artist go back through the "Film zone" because of a mistake or something just not looking right. I've also seen where they have had artist record programs like Garth Brooks or someone around the park at nighttime... Nighttime is like 1am sometimes and its not fun. Well I hope everyone got what they wanted for Christmas/ Hanukkah.
DeLorean Rider
It was incredible, I saw the whole thing and was absolutely amazed. They also had a short special about Expedition Everest including on ride footage and inside the mountain, that ride is absolutely amazing. Captain Picard
I have a friend that got to ride Expedition Everest. He says it is a good ride but short. He says it also has a helix that you go though backwards and made him sick after riding 6 times. There was no effects or anything running at the time. screamingnight
I wont ever go to Disney World or Disney land because they dont have good thrills. That is the main thing I look for in a amusement park is thrill rides and nothing else. (safety of course)
WooferBearATL
That's very one sided. It really is not an amusment park or theme park if you don't have the entire package. Thrills are a part of that package. I'm probably recommend Ritalin. <G>
CoastersRZ
Well, I went down to Disney World back in 2004. I found that each of the parks had an adequate amount of thrill rides. From Space Mountain at the Magic Kingdom to Tower of Terror and Rock `N` Roller Coaster at MGM to Mission Space and Test Track at Epcot to Primeval Whirl and the soon to be Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom. But the themed environment and heavily themed rides with all their audio animatronic figures are what seperates Disney from all other theme parks. I am eagerly looking forward to the day that I can return to the Disney parks, simply because I had so much fun at the parks.
tubaman
That is the best Hotel you can stay at. We were having dinner there that night. We were staying at the Wilderness Cabins, which out of Beach Club, Boardwalk, and those cabins, I like the cabins the best. I've also done a Disney Cruise. That was fun. WooferBearATL
As much as I'd like to hate the Disney corporatoin, they are the leader in the industry. They are nothing but fun and excitement.

King Bowser
I for one have always liked Disney most people never knew that Mickey Mouse was a nipple twisting brat back in the old disney comics now a days he's watered down a bit so he can appeal to everyone. WooferBearATL
So when the folks hit Number 1 Million in their "Year of a Million Wishes" do they just shut down? Is there an upcharge for these wishes or are they only available at certain times of year? I have no idea why they give the performers microphones if they're just going to lip synch. It's just like Millie Vanillie!
Kenban
So when the folks hit Number 1 Million in their "Year of a Million Wishes" do they just shut down? It's just like Millie Vanillie! The wishes are available to anyone on property which means you can win if your in Downtown Disney as well. For being the year of a million dreams its going to run for 18 months (you know a Disney year) and its well over a million prizes total. How its being done is that every park (world wide) has a certain number of prizes to hand out each day. For example the Magic Kingdom will have one family selected each day to win a nights stay in the Castle. All of the parks are giving out golden fastpasses (which are actually blue plastic) but this is being done by a cast member gathering the next 30+ people getting off of a ride starting at a certain time in the morning (normally right after opening). The times and locations of the giveaways are being selected by a computer so that it is random. How someone in Downtown Disney can win is that there are other prizes then just the in park ones including pin lanyards, round the world vacations, etc. I was at Disney World about 2 weeks ago for 4 days. Still planning on writing a trip report at some point but have not gotten around to it yet. I saw people getting prizes, saw the magic fastpasses around people necks but never won anything myself. Although all of the lines were short enough that using fastpasses the longest line I waited in was around 20 minutes.

upstop
Give Eisner a little credit. Back in the 80's Disney was going bankrupt and was on the verge of selling out to a Japanese corporation. Eisner prevented that from happening.......on the other hand......I believe that he certainly went tooooooo far with the changes such as the elimination of hand drawn artistry ( the basis of the company) . Disney has always been beyond the reach of the general public in price and a little too below the intellect of the average teenager. Whenever I go to Disney World, I feel as if I'm in a really big commercial.
KIfan73
It was kind of a nice suprise and nice to watch this morning. Sure, its commercialized, but, hey, pretty cool to watch...would like to go there someday.
Avatar
I agree that watching any parade these days is like watching a long commercial. But since we just returned from a trip there a couple month’s ago it was nice to watch the Disney parade with my daughter and reminisce about our time there. Disney knows that the families are the big draw for them and where they will make most sales is from the families. I would gladly go to Disney to spend a fair amount of money to spend some great family time while my daughter is still in that magical “I believe†frame of mind. ABC and Disney are owned by the same company and know how to use each other to maximize their usefulness coverage for each other.

Actually Disney targets far more than families and know that a good deal of their current cash flow comes from special events (ie - meetings, weddings, reunions, business)
The Interpreter
Yep, Disney and ABC synergize really well together. NBC Universal not so well, at least so far. CBS and Paramount Parks never did, other than a few posters for CBS shows. Big whoop.
