The Interpreter
Things have greatly increased in price at Paramount's Carowinds this year. Parking is now $10 (at least they didn't match SFOG's $15...yet). Funnel cakes were $6.95. Pizza is $3.99 a slice, and the slices are MUCH smaller than in years past. At Outer Hanks, a hamburger and fries is $6.99. That does NOT include a drink. Subway is GONE. Cotton candy is NOT a quarter (though it is at Cedar Point and Dorney Park). Most games are now three dollars. Undiscounted admission is $49.99. It will be interesting to see if this trend repeats itself at Paramount's Kings Island. CoastersRZ
Yikes! Undiscounted admission is $49.99!?? That`s pretty steep. If PKI increases that much, it would be a $5 increase over last year`s gate. Not to mention that Cedar Point DROPPED their admission price to $35.99 for this season in the hopes of lurring more visitors into the park. I have a feeling that this might not be the best year for PKI or Paramount Parks in general, given the apparant price increases, and apparant cuts. The Interpreter
On the net, Carowinds tickets are $36.99....$33.99 if purchased three days in advance. Children and senior tickets are less. There were signs everywhere advertising WinterFest tickets for sale now at $9.99, limited time offer. And on May 21, Platinum season passes will no longer be sold this season. RollerNut
I think that if Carowinds keeps raising the prices, they are going to price them selves into dropping attendance. I don't know about games, but I think they were 3 dollars last season.

WooferBearATL
I haven't been to Six Flags yet this year. Goliath opens this weekend. I'm fixin to maybe go this weekend but it's gonna be very busy. I think I'm gonna actually break down and get a season pass this year.

RollerNut
Paramount Parks is cutting spending, and increasing prices for all Paramount Parks due to the sell of the company. I think Hard Rock Park opening in 2008 will cause Carowinds to lower admission.
CoastersRZ
Really, cutting spending and increasing the already high admission and food prices won`t really increase their revenue. There will simply be less demand for the product at the higher prices. Look at Cedar Point, they lowered their gate price, to try and get more people through the gate. On top of that they lowered some food prices to try and get a higher per capita spending of guests in the park.
cewldre
Just as a quick note, the games were $3 last year, at least. I went down to visit their VP of resale, since he's a friend of mine, and he let me work a game when I was there, and it was $3, as were all the games of the people I brought with me... I could ask the Games GM down there what he's charging, since he's a good friend of mine too.

deidre1976
I will be going to Carowinds for the first time on April 8th, I don't want to pay $7.00 for a funnel cake. PKI was under $5 last year. I will eat before I enter the park and after I leave. We are going to Disney after that and their food isn't as nearly as high as PCW. RollerNut
Subway is GONE. Most games are now three dollars. The Subway building is still there, it is being changed into a Pizza shop. The games prices haven't went up any as far as I know, there wasn't any games under three dollars last season. As for food, I doubt the pizza slices have gotten any smaller. I know the pizza slices I have seen are 90 degree angles and as long as a pencil. Somehow I doubt a funnel cake is over six dollars, and for seven dollars it should include a drink. I will see what I can find out when I go by Outer Hank's Friday afternoon.
The Interpreter
The pizza I saw was at Wings. Ninety degree angles? NO WAY. Try more like 45 degree angles, as in 8 slices to the pie. Ninety degrees would be 4 slices to the pie. No way. I will say this. The pizza was very good! (At CBS Cafe, the pizza was burned, both days I was there. It was much better at Wings) Games may well have been three dollars last year. I know many are five at some parks. I date to the fifty cents days! In any event, food prices are higher at Paramount's Carowinds than they are MOST places at Disney. And they are even higher still at Six Flags Over Georgia. At least PCWi food is good. That's more than I can say about any place at SFOG except Panda. And the Subway IS gone. I never said the building was, just the business. CoastersRZ
I wonder if that means the Subway at PKI will be gone? As far as games go, I worked the basketball game in Coney Mall next to the Antique treats and across from the Zephyr last year during Fear Fest as part of the group volunteer program. It was 1 ball for $3, 2 balls for $5 and 5 balls for $10. Thats at least what I think it was, I`m not postive those were the exact numbers, that was back in October. Kenban
Interpreter says that "a hamburger and fries is $6.99." which to me sounds a little high but possible. If that is correct then Disney is cheaper I was only there in October and its $5.99 for a hamburger and fries. But then this should not be a surprise Disney's food, drinks, and souvenir cups are all cheaper. The $15 parking is happening at several Six Flags parks as I remember SFMM raised the price I believe in January.
CoastersNSich
15 bucks for parking at SFOG......dear Lord. There used to be a MARTA shuttle to Six Flags from the Hamilton E. Holmes rail station. Unfortunately, that was axed after last season, due to budget cuts, and before the Snyder/Shapiro takeover.

NC*to*OH
Subway is gone ...oh well that stinks . We were going to go this past weekend to Charlotte but we did not we prolly won't go down now until after our trip to PKI . As far as eating before you go in and after ..i suggest the mexican resturant across the street over by the Motel 6. Excellent Food and cheap beers. Also may i suggest leaving for lunch . There is a Wendys across the street. A Bojangles down the road , a KFC ..and like i said our favorite for at least the last 5-6 years is the Mexican place. They let you leave and renter the parking lot as long as you have your receipt they will not re-charge you . And also if your up for a little stroll you can walk to Wendys... its a stroll though and on those hot Carolina afternoons it sucks to walk ,But it can be done. Let me tell ya, our summers are nothing like they have to put up with in Cincy. Everyone always asks "How can you stand the heat down in Atlanta." Having had to deal with summers in Cincy and ATL, I would say that southern heat is nothing like the 200% humidity that is in Southern Ohio.
cewldre
you're exactly right woofer. We have crazy humidity. When I was in Charlotte last year, it wasn't terrible, but there was some humidity. DO be careful in dry heat areas. Sure, we all hate the stickiness of the humidity in Cincy, but it's much easier to become dehydrated and not realize it in an area of dry heat. Be careful. jzarley
I spent three years in Dallas, including my first Summer where it was 100 or higher for 45 days in a row, and had absolutely no problems with it. My first Summer back in Ohio it was 85 and humid and I thought I was going to die! I was in Vegas one August when it was 126, and that "dry" heat was infinitely easier to tolerate than Ohio's "wet" heat!
