CoastersRZ
A couple things. First, the park`s will remain with the Paramount banner for the rest of the season. I believe that it is Cedar Fair`s intention to drop the Paramount surname to the parks in the offseason, in much the same way it was applied after Paramount bought the parks in 1992. Also, it does seem like Cedar Fair is not too interested on all the Paramount brands. They are however interested in the Nickelodeon brands. From listening to the conference call, it seems like they were leaning to removing references to the Paramount themes after this season. It will certainly be an interesting year and off season, to say the least. Hopefully, the park has WinterFest this year, but that is up in the air. A decision will be made on that by Labor Day. The Interpreter
It's NOT a local issue when the name over the door says Six Flags or Paramount or whatever....the public sees them as all the same. One dirty McDonalds affects them all, in the customers' eyes. Same for parks.
Gordon Bombay
First off Adam12, your rant means absolutely nothing to me. If you wanna talk about how I bought my car, work my money with student loans and what not then pm me about it but thats not the the topic and not what I'm calling into question. You obviously have no knowledge of how the amusenet business is run, did you/do you ever work for a park? And in what position no matter wat it was you can see that paramoutn idd a darn good jb iwht 5 of the most sucessful parks in the industry and they catered to families which was the biggest money maker and they looked down the road for that i.e. italian job and nu which can be enjoyed for years to come. Your argumetns about the park make no sense and you seem to miss the point of decisions. Huge coaster anfter huge coaster isnt brining the crowds in like it used to and everyone can see that as much as they hate to admit it. By the way, no I do no visit check into cash or checksmart

Outdoor Man
someone could correct me on this but right after Paramount bought KI in 92, all of the print and media immediately started using the "Paramount's Kings Island"... the signeage didn't get changed until the next season. at this point, can they cancel Winterfest? hope not, already have tickets. And I don't necessarily agree with the "one dirty, all dirty" thought. there are some McD's in Cincy that I won't even drive past... but that doesn't sour all of them. I have worked with some of the cleanup crews at midnight... and beyond.. waiting on the Supervisors to "invite" their subordinates to work. Most sups are too interested in being a "cool boss" than being a leader. Cleanliness, or lack thereof is not a Charlotte (paramount parks home) issue.... like any independent franchise, it is a local issue. And I am not beating a drum to defend Paramount (i see this acqusition as a HUGE positive).... I'm just stating an opinionated fact.
The Interpreter
The casual visitor from Cincinnati who visits Paramount's Kings Dominion, should they find the place dirty, WILL associate that experience with Kings Island. I actually think the Cedar Fair way of naming parks makes much more sense than Paramount's or Six Flags'. An accident at any Six Flags always brings up questions where I work and travel: Didn't that happen at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom (or insert local Six Flags park name here)? The public hears or sees Six Flags or Paramount, they KNOW the local park, that's all they know, and they hear enough to know the local park is where the problem is. Most patrons have no idea who owns Cedar Point, Worlds of Fun, Dorney Park, etc....Nor do they care.
WooferBearATL
...with Canada's Wonderland raking in the most people in the world, I believe. Or not, but I don't remember. The Disney people would like a word with you...or two or three... I'll take Canada's Wonderland over Disney World or Disney Land. I'd say hands down that Wonderland is considerably cleaner than either of the Disney Parks. On top of that, everything is not plastic at Wonderland. Captain Picard
I have had many visits to Paramount's Kings Dominion and I didn't see where it is as bad as people are saying here.
The Interpreter
Were those PKD visits THIS year? I, too, had not seen such a dirty park at PKD in the past. I believe this year the Paramount Parks were looking at substantial budget restrictions. Some cut back on hours, some on staffing, some on ecology. PKD was easily the filthiest park I have ever been to on the two different occasions when I have been there this year. I doubt I go again until after the CF sale closes, and I love Volcano....but I don't like walking through spilled Cokes, cigarette butts, graffiti galore (far more than I have ever seen at Great Adventure or Riverside), gum and more gum (on the handrails in the Volcano, on the floor, on trees, etc.) And when I sat down in Grizzly, I sat in....gum. Ugh.
Captain Picard
No I haven't been this year. I know what your talking about with the Coke. It is that way at PKI where they drag the trash bags through FOF Q with it leaking out the bottom.
Outdoor Man
in defense of Paramount Parks corp.... try being in their shoes.... since January you've basically been handed your untimed pink slip. You know whoever buys your company likely will not keep most of you and your office will probably be dismantled. Not a lot of incentive to excel at this point. CF already said that PP staff will be re-evaluated, or something to that effect.
DA RIPPER
Just heard on the radio Cedar Fair already has promise to drop the prices entry and food. Things are looking good for the future.
Browntggrr
I have had many visits to Paramount's Kings Dominion and I didn't see where it is as bad as people are saying here. PKD is a disgrace. It is so bad that to the normal person they probably believe that PKI is the same way (which it is not even close). I have been to PKD on 5 seperate occasions, the last visit being the summer of 2005, and swore that I am not going to waste my time going back- and I get in for free with my PKI season pass! I would rather spend an extra day at BGE. And as far as CP vs. PKI's attendence. We are talking a difference of less than 150,000 guests between the two parks. And comparing CP to PCW is also unfair considering that the city of Toronto metro area has about 5 million people.
Captain Picard
It may be a good idea to wait a year or two for my return then if it's that way.

standbyme
The sale of the parks made the Fark website this morning...they consider it "cool". They posted a link that has a video & article. http://www.channelcincinnati.com/health/9253170/detail.html
flightoffear1996
I wonder for those of us that bought Winter Fest tickets and they decide not to do if they will give refunds.
The Interpreter
Of course. If Winterfest is not held, Cedar Fair will certainly issue refunds. Of that I am quite postive.
