BoddaH1994 Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 With a new cast, a new crew, and most importantly a new attitude School of Rock returns to the Paramount Theatre to rock out a whole new generation of listeners! PKICentral has been given the rare opportunity to peak behind closed doors for a sneak preview of School of Rock! In this update you will see scenes from School of Rock rehearsals as well as various shots of cast and crew meetings. ALSO: For a little bit of insider information, the wonderful people from PKI's entertainment department have asked me to inform you that School of Rock will be opening its doors two days early! Saturday, June 3nd there will be shows at 11:00am as well as 12:30pm with shows at the same times on Sunday. There will NOT be any other shows this weekend after 12:30. This is not an audience participation show. I checked the show out 17 times last year and never once was the audience asked to participate in any way. By the way, the pics are GREAT! Quote

Not to mention in some situations an employee could make staying in character difficult for the players. Quote

Personally, I thought entertainment at Kings Island was much better in both quality and quantity before it was largely outsourced. The same could be said of the food. Quote

If you have your work shirt on (even if you are wearing a regular shirt - if your collar is visible) you cannot ride any rides or purchase anything at a park restaurant or gift shop. If you have your work shirt on the only place you can spend money is the Backstage Cafe. Quote

I think that games are under the gaming laws and regulations. I do know that under KECO that warren county auditors did come out and monitor the games and check them from time to time. They also used to come out and check the scales used in food service. Quote

But at five dollars (which some of them are in some parks), this certainly is getting darn close to gambling, if it isn't. Then again, many if not most of the prizes are no longer even worth what you pay to play. Most come from China. I bet anything the cost on those basketballs is much less than the cost to play. And the annoying BOUNCE BOUNCE BOUNCE drives me batty. But anyway, this was a School of Rock thread. An awesome show. Well worth seeing. And those were great pix! Quote

I'd much rather put up with the occasional smoker than the baskeball dribblers. I think I'm allergic to basketball dribbling in parks. Quote
PKIVortex Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 When I visited PKD back in 1998, they were giving out basketballs that were deflated, made me wonder why PKI didn't do that. As far as employees not playing games, my understanding of that was, since they were no way to get a recepit that said you actually won the game, they had no way of knowing if you actually won the prize or a friend at the game gave it to you. That's why they had the plush sale once a month, so you could purchase whatever prize you wanted and they could give you a receipt to show on your way out. Again when I worked at the park (1999 - 2001), they were no said rule about employees couldn't attend any show. Quote

Because they tried to stop me from being in Magic of the Movies two years ago just because I'm associated with this site! Before you ask, no, I don't work for Paramount Parks!! Back to the matter at hand, this show is going to be GREAT this year!! I'm very excited for the entertainment department. The musicians are all very charismatic in this show and will only get better and tighter as the summer presses on. If you turn down the opportunity to see School of Rock, you're really missing out on something special. Quote

It was filled with many classic rock songs and they perfected each one that they performed. I thought the show was fantastic; I recommend that you should stop in and see it some time. Quote
Captain Picard Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 I seen it today and rate it as a very good show for PKI. If you was to compare it to something like the Bill and Ted Show at Universal HHN, It's not even close. I will go see it again to see if it gets better as the year goes on. Quote

One is a game of chance the other is a game of skill. I know there is a LOT of luck involved in some of the games but thats how the state views it. My thinking is that in a game of skill its your fault you lost since you did not have enough skill to win. Actually in Japan they have anti gambling laws and how they get around them is by having two shops. One that has games (pachinko machines if your wondering) and a gift shop that exchanges the metal balls for prizes. You take the prizes to a little shop right outside the door to the pachinko parlor and they exchange the prize you just got for cash. Quote
