Anyone ever rode Top Thrill Dragster?

Recommended Posts

Not the best ride at the Point, but it is pretty amazing, I think it's amazing in the front, but don't do the front at night, unless you like bugs all over your body.

Ew, I remember waiting in line for Millennium Force a few years ago when the train hit a bird and feathers went all over the crowd waiting in line, it was really sad.

Shades of Fabio! smile.gif

(If you don't know what I am talking about, Google "Fabio" and "Apollo's Chariot" You'll be surprised what you can learn!

Describing a rocket coaster to one who has never ridden one is not unlike trying to describe what vanilla ice cream tastes like to someone who has never eaten any flavour other than chocolate.

Just ride it! smile.gif

I HIGHLY recommend the front seat, though the after-dark front seat advice is, (pardon me, I can't help it) "spot-on."

Ive had about 20 rides on Dragster. Just pray it doesn't stall at the top on you, that is an amazing ride yet you honestly dont want to be launched a 2nd time.

Not a bad seat on the thing, but the front is amazing. My biggest suggestion is wearing eye protection, sun glasses or something like that because your eyes are extremely dry by the end especially if you take a bug in one.

I guess it depends on who you ask. Some would think it's the worst thing alive, and would show a defect in the ride to them in some way. But to others it would be pretty fun. I saw a few rollbacks when I last went to Cedar Point, and to me it looked pretty fun. I guess the best thing I can associate it with is going backwards on a sled, only with a little more control.

I would like to be on a rollback one of these days... laugh.gif

I go to Wal-Mart to get my fix of rollbacks.

Being on Top Thrill Dragster only once I can only explane it by saying it went by to fast! Not saying that is a bad thing, the short ride packed a punch. I remember saying to myself, "Holy crap! Were higher than The Vortex and were not even at 90* up yet!?!"

I did tell myself to look around when I reached the top hat, What-A-View! It really does not matter where you sit on this ride (maybe the front), the whole ride is something out of this world.

Here's me on TTD in 2003

I have rode the dragster many times and i would not miss the ride. The launch

is fantastic and racing at 121 mph is awesome. I been on one rollback and going

120 backwards is again awesome. You get to ride again. For me,this was a two

for one deal. I love the ride.

Definately get at least one front seat ride, and don't forget to pray for a roll back everytime you ride, they are unbelievable. You cannot comprehend how amazing a rollback is until you have experienced one. Also, you really need to ride dragster at least twice to realize how good of a ride it is. Once is not enough.

(And if you love Dragster, there's this little park up in New Jersey that has this thing that is even bigger--456', even faster--128mph, and has a hill after the drop--that hill is taller than Beast--but doesn't have any airtime--its major purpose seems to be to slow you down!

The front seats of cars on that thing are very grand...some say riding in the back seats of cars on that one is not unlike riding a jackhammer, though. It has OTSR's, but you'd never know, and many prefer them to Dragster's T-Bars...)

To be fair, many prefer Dragster. It's a grand ride. But if you ever get the chance, be sure to try the one up in Jersey, too.

I've been on Dragster only once, in the opening year. It was an amazing ride. I purhcased a hotel package deal and was allowed in the park at 9am. My friend and I immediatley queued up for Dragster. Well, right when it was supposed to open, they make an announcement that the Ohio ride inspector was there, not sure why. Anyway, we wound up waiting three hours to get to ride. Sometimes, I have waited for coasters for three hours before. But, after having been on Dragster once, I wouldn't wait for more than 45 minutes to 1 hour at most. It is a very exilirating experience and over too quickly but definitely worth at least one ride. I tried to get a view from the top, but thought it was going too fast to really get a good view.

I have rode The Dragster 3 times and i have to say that MF is a better ride but TTD is definately a cant miss. When you get ready to get in line if it is backed out and the turnstials are open, it is still a relatively short line. It only took me i think an hour and a half to get on. I also rode it at night by myself because nobody would ride it with me.

I would have a heartattack if it rolled back.......I freak out when the lift belt of the log ride stops to let people with disabilities on. It is a fear my mom put in my head when I was little.........Rides break and people die and have heart attacks, I didn't ride my first real coaster till I was thirteen and she wasn't there unsure.gif

^Heck, I'd even buy Cedar Point for $50.00. wink.gif

Seriously, it is well worth the gate price. You can find discounts at Meier Dairy stores, if I remember correctly. Either that, or call Cedar Point and ask for their getaway guide as it has discounts too.

Downside hill of Dragster is cool with the twist, but, it's not until near the bottom that you reach 120mph again.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have also had the opportunity to be granted all of the glory that comes with a rollback! It is an amazing feeling that can't even be described! Even if the wait is 2 hours long I reccomend riding it atleast once, especially being a first time rider! If you like FoF at all you will LOVE Top Thrill Dragster!

Do this... stand in the hot sun for 3 hours. Then get into the passenger seat of a car. While the car is moving, stick your head out of the window for 14 seconds. Have the driver hit the breaks.

There, you have just ridden Dragster.

LOL... mostly kidding. But trust me, if you have to wait over an hour to ride it, you will likely be dissapointed.

You may think that being up that high, or twisting down the side would be the huge thrill. It's no doubt thrilling, but the immense speed is what surprised me. Heck, you are up in the air and twisting for such a short period of time, that you hardly have time to savor it.
