WooferBearATL
Is that not a kick in the butt! The Beach is going to ramp up their Holiday event and Kings Island is scrapping it. Go Figure!
The Interpreter
Oh, so you noted the little implied dig that they figure they will have a great holiday event since they have so many season pass holders? Season passes are already on sale there for $65, and they trumpet that their holiday event is included!
CoastersRZ
Obviousely, The Beach has been doing something right with their Holiday event as it has been a very successful event that they have held for numerous years.

These holiday events (like Winterfest) are such no brainers. You really have to be incompetent to make the events fail. When we ran them prior, they used to be basically on auto pilot. The Interpreter
I'm not so sure. Times are different. Winter Lights at Six Flags Great Adventure also failed. So did the Christmas event at Cedar Point years ago. Ditto the recent one at Camden Park in Huntington, West Virginia. I think the one at the old Kings Island looked easy only because the people doing it were so brilliant worked so hard at it.

I spent many an October Day stringing garland and decorating trees around the park. I came back and worked line as a floater for it. It was very, very, very easy to manage and run. The Interpreter
Something tells me people will be VERY busy at Kings Island and Carowinds during the time that preparations for Winterfest would have been going on. And all winter long, for that matter. Things must be done. What things? We will know when the parks open next season.
King Bowser
Yeah I am so going to The Beach's Holiday event I'm even thinking about getting a pass to the beach for next summer.

If you get that pass now, you won't have to pay to get in to the holiday event...

PhantomTheater
I went to the Beach's holiday event last year. Its nice, They have padddle boats in the lazy river, the speedslide is turned into a tobbagon run (it uses plastic sleds) and ice skating on the wave pool. I recomend it. AZ Kinda Guy
Good to see the park is doing good. My girlfriend and I had visited back in 05 and we enjoyed our time there but the place seemed like it was starting to look run down. However with this bit of good news maybe they will turn thigns around? i hope so because I always found The Beach to be a far superior waterpark when compared to WaterWo...er, Boomerang Bay. CoastersRZ
The pedal boats that they use in the Lazy River at the Beach are the same Pedal Boats from Coney Island, just a little FYI.
TOPGUN1993
http://www.thebeachwaterpark.com/holiday/index.php They turn the Banzai into the sled ride (one alsome slide)
BoddaH1994
Just trust me... the Holiday Fest thing at the Beach isn't all that great. If you went to Winterfest don't even waste your time at it.
Kenban
I am looking at the 2007 season pass and I like the BOGO offer going on right now. That makes it $32.50 each for two people. (Although I don't know of anyone who would want to purchase one with me off the top of my head and the offer ends the 6th) Plus and I really like this option they have a Platinum season pass. Free Drinks Free Parking Bring a friend free on Mon, Wed, Friday Plus early admission at 9:30 AM Even though its $60 thats a nice upgrade Shoot the deals are about to work on me and I have never owned a season pass to The Beach. You pick one up now its good the rest of this year all of next year and you can go to the holiday fest.

And Winterfest was great? At least I didn't feel ripped off when I went to the Beach.
Avatar
I think if Kings Island cuts perks and raises season passes prices, I think that we will not buy KI season passes. But instead we'll buy passes to the beach for something differante. Plus it'll give us something else to do if we stay at the Great Wolf Lodge over christmas. I'm glad I found this thread. We'll what say you Kings Island whats it going to be?
