X-Flight coming to PKI?

I love walk-on days. The only trip I made to KI this year, my friend an myself stayed on Vortex for a second ride. For whatever reason Top Gun had a line that I had never seen on it before. We rode The Beast 4 times as well.

While we are talking about lines...

Anybody know what the lines are like on a Saturday, April 21st at SFoG?

Sour grapes? OK, ill take that – but I did already agree that I was bitter with the handling of the whole XF thing. Let me get one thing straight, I love KI! I would have loved to see some kind of unique top 10 ride be installed at KI to show that CF really cared. But what does CF do instead? Right off The Bat they throw in a used, problem plagued, low capacity ride in a park that already has long lines for high capacity rides. For those of you who say XF is a great ride that’s fine and it is your opinion, I hope you continue to like it after waiting 3 hours in line for it. But my point is this when compared to other rides that KI could have got its not that great, have you ever seen it ranked above 100 in any polls?

I sure would like to hear from some of you who are really unhappy regarding CF decision to throw this hunk of crap in instead of giving your park a shiny new ride, although it seems that’s unlikely to happen in these forums.

The problem is that it takes months or even years to design, order, then build a major coaster. To put in a top 10 ride this winter would have required that Cedar Fair decide to build the coaster and ordered it before they even purchased the park. The only other way a coaster could have been installed this winter was if Cedar Fair had purchased an off the shelf standard design ride. If we continue to see this kinds of rides installed at Kings Island I will be happy to agree with you but its just too early to say that Cedar Fair is trying to screw over the park. Most people who don't have KI as their home park don't realize this but Kings Island actually has a higher attendance then Cedar Point, it is most visited seasonal park (I know in the US not sure about the world). But even with this attendance your going to see bigger rides installed at Cedar Point because it makes the chain more money (a LOT more).

While the ride ran poorly at Geauga Lake it does not mean it will at Kings Island. History shows when these types of rides have been moved in the past the electronics are all upgraded and it often runs better then it had ever done in the past. For example Borg Assimilator at Carowinds had so many problems when it was Stealth at PGA I am betting it was down more often then actually working yet it runs very well at Carowinds. Its not because the employees have better training but because Vekoma made major upgrades to the ride when it was moved. The capacity will not be an issue if the third train is returned to service. It might not matter anyways because of the number of attractions the park has.

Yes, you are right, of course. And Cedar Fair owns a seasonal park with even higher attendance than Kings Island...it's in Canada, a wonderland it is.

Great point I was forgetting about that but your comment made me remember about a very interesting chart that I have a copy of which took the attendance in 2005 and divided that by the number of operating days. To give you an idea of the average attendance at the biggest parks. Because of the short season Canada's Wonderland has it has one of the highest daily attendance figures for any park. In 2005 its daily attendance was higher then Epcot's.

^Good luck on a trip up there muted, CW is quite a good park. However as I know your a veteran of a certain flying coaster....you wont particuarly like their flying coaster...it doesnt have the best reputation. Make sure you give us a TR if you go and have fun dealing with the border patrol.

I hate to burst everyone’s bubble regarding the alleged new USED ride. Being a rider of XF for the last 4 years I must say CF is really giving PKI guests the shaft by sending them this USED ride instead of giving them a new one that they deserve. While XF may seem like a great ride in actuality it’s just a gimmick ride. Once you ride it the thrill is over and it doesn’t really warrant a re-ride. PKI is merely getting a USED troublesome ride that has terrible capacity. I think PKI ride ops are great but I don’t think anyone not even the designers can operate this USED ride efficiently. You will soon find out as you wait in your three hour plus line for a USED ride that’s in my opinion not worth a half hour wait.

I know that you think I might be a bit bitter because XF used to be at my home park and I am. I am bitter that CF took it without any warning, although in the long run I am sure it was the right business decision. I will not miss the ride but I will miss what it added to the park in perception.

I know if PKI was my home park I would not be happy to be getting a CRAPPY USED RIDE! So look around your park and don’t think it won’t happen to you but in the meantime good luck PKI – I hope you have fun with your new USED toy!

Oh yeah – for those who say GL has poor customer service you might want to actually make that 4 hour trip instead of believing what you hear.

Is that why you road it for four years?

I had a weird dream last night...

I dreamed CF relocated an existing ride to KI as expected...BUT--it was Raptor!! In my dream I was looking it from the parking lot, and Raptor was installed where Face Off is now.

I think this can only mean that I've been reading this site WAY too much!! ;) (Of course, I also dreamed I was riding a snow mobile--which I've never done before--so I'm not sure what that was all about...)

I too agree that I am just glad to see something coming to KI that can be listed as a thrill ride, I don't care if it has been used, the major thing I am excited to see is that they are using land that hasn't been developed yet instead of taking out a ride from the past. That is what makes me so mad, every year in the past I would always go to public relations and ask, "Ok guys what ride are you going to take out next year so I can get my fill of it this year." Mix the nostalgic with the new, that makes for a great experience, and honestly you can't expect them to go to elaborate this year, and take away from the powerhouse rollercoaster opening at the point.

Thanks jzarley for pointing that out, that is exactly what my point was. I just thought it was funny that the poster used the wrong spelling of rode, some people got it and obviously some people didn’t.

(ooops there goes that bold thing again - I hate when that happens)
