KIfan73
I know I have read that GWL and (P)KI have no real affiliation. However, what do you think the deal is between them for a banner for GWL being the main image on PKI's website right now?
Captain Nemo
If great wolf lodge promotes the park as as PKI it is still promoting. The best thing the park can do is promote it back.
KIfan73
I'm all for it. I just want there to be an actual connection (like a special gate) for GWL guests to either walk or get shuttled into the park.
The Interpreter
Perhaps GWL and KI have entered into a marketing agreement. Smart if they have! It's not like either one is going away any time soon.
Avatar
I could not help but notice a GWL advertising ad on the PKIC info pages earlier today too.
KI-ORIG-EMP
I would venture that GWL has paid for the right to call itself "Offical resort for Kings Island" and they would both cross promote each other. As for a special entrance or shuttle service it would all be a matter of time to see what happens. They can have their own van just like Kings Island Resort and Conference Center has. Shman
I still say it would be awesome to have a monorail that goes across the two properties. One with 3 stops; GWL, Main Gate, Boomerang Bay. Imagine the connection between the properties.....very "Disney-esque"
The Interpreter
Somehow, I don't think you will see Cedar Fair make permanent connections with the Great Wolf Lodge, which is still partially owned by CBS, and which Cedar Fair was offered an interest in and rejected... Not to mention Cedar Fair is the company that just took out the monorail at Geauga Lake, and Paramount Parks took out the one at Carowinds a few years back and the one at Kings Island when they first got the park. flightoffear1996
I think building a monorail right there wouldnt even make any sense. Its not that far away unlike some of the Disney parks and the other thing is I think it would be a huge eye sore and a waste of money for the park. RailRider
Seriously people can walk, its not that far. Honestly put a path in and make a private entrance for GWL guests near the Top Gun que. Or they could just run one of the parking lot shuttles to and from the lodge to the front of the park.
Shman
Obviously you all have not had to listen to the numerous guest complaints about having to walk from far out in the parking lot to the front gate. If people can't handle that I can't imagine them being able to walk from GWL front door to the front gate of KI. Now if they did do an exclusive gate over by Top Gun, I could see that working. The only downfall to that might be having to navigate the terrain back there.
teenageninja
I'm almost willing to guarentee there will be some sort of a shuttle leaving every 15-20 minutes.
Reclaimer
It cracks me up when people complain about having to walk "all the way" to the front gates from the parking lot...or standing in line to go through security, etc. Do these people not realize that their whole day will consist of WALKING and WAITING?
RailRider
No no, the customer is always right and they should never have to walk to get to the park or walk to get to any of the attractions. Thats why I purpose that all guests be escorted to the front gate from their car via golf cart and once inside all guests receive a SegWay to use for the day. God forbid anyone ever exercise. Unfortunately this is the mindset of some guests, who are the same ones that will spend 30 minutes in WalMarts parking lot waiting for a front row spot to open up so they dont have to walk that far. Hey folks pull in park it and go inside. By the time you find that close spot you could have already been done buying your cigarets, twinkies, and PBR. Gordon Bombay
I still say it would be awesome to have a monorail that goes across the two properties. One with 3 stops; GWL, Main Gate, Boomerang Bay. Imagine the connection between the properties.....very "Disney-esque" I agree shman, I would love to see a monorail. Have it run from GWL to Action Zone, back around Son of Beast to show off some good view of the ride then up past AE and The Racers over the park and turn the Eifel towers 50ft platform into a monorail station, then have a third stop out at Boomerang Bay. Too bad monorails are pretty expensive. It seems the Cincinnati area has terrible problems with light rail systems. PKI's monorail closed, Jungle Jims has done very little with it, the cincinnati subway always fails to get any good support in the votes. The Interpreter
Expense of monorails? See: Las Vegas. I doubt you see a monorail at Kings Island any time in my lifetime...
KIfan73
I like just the idea of a path around the TG area. A dedicated entrance would sway me to stay at GWL (although I guess I'll have to watch out for the buckets of water if I decide to walk through the water park )
Avatar
I was hopping that the GWL would get there own entrance to the park too. But after going and looking around I really did not see any where that they could do this that would be better than just going to through the front. I do hope that they do offer transportation to and from the park and the GWL.
Avatar
Seriously people can walk, its not that far. You will change your mind after this comming June and for several years afte, I assure you that! It cracks me up when people complain about having to walk "all the way" to the front gates from the parking lot...or standing in line to go through security, etc. Do these people not realize that their whole day will consist of WALKING and WAITING? Guest with little ones are probably the most impatient ones here too. They have young ones with small bladders and they need direct access to a bathroom as soon as possible. Also I think guest should complain especially when they have paid a hefty price to park then haft to park way out with no shuttle service. A Major Guest Turn-Off!!! The Interpreter
AMEN. That was what was so world-class stupid about CBS not opening the PARAMOUNT's Kings Island security lines and gates (and, therefore, access to the restrooms) until right at park opening at the beginning of last season. Fortunately, that changed.
KIfan73
Seriously people can walk, its not that far. You will change your mind after this comming June and for several years afte, I assure you that! Why is this? Is there some new change happening between the GWL entrance and (P)KI's entrance? Or, did I miss something...
Avatar
RailRider has announced over the Holidays that he and his wife are expecting their first child in June. I was just saying that I think he will change his mind about how far that walk is when doing it with little ones in tow. GWL mostly caters to families and I personally think that that walk is too far for most families.

The Interpreter
People with elderly relatives and/or friends who have difficulty walking are often not considered when things like this are thought about, either. Parks really need to consider ALL their guests when they design things like this...not just the young and healthy. Not only is it good business, in many cases, it is now the law. Avatar
I have thought that an area behind GWL and including the GWL would be a great place to put a mini Downtown Disney area with 2-4 price range hotels, several shops mini golf full service restaurant’s all sharing the common areas and having their own private access to the park with early ride times. Of course the Camp grounds would have access to this area as well as the general public.
Cory Butcher
I dont like the Eifel Tower idea..too campy, its one thing to have a monorail run through a contemporary hotel, and a completely different one to run a train through a parks lamdmark. Yah, bad Idea!
