Hank
Has anyone heard if Coca-Cola will be the soft drink at KI this year? I know the other CF parks have Pepsi, and I see that Coke is still advertized on the KI website, but I wonder... I know that it's a personal thing when it comes to pop choice (as it does pizza), but I enjoy having a Coke when my tummy gets upset on the "choke & puke" rides. PKIVortex
We don't know if the former Paramount Parks will be changing over to Pepsi at this time or not. Paramount Parks signed a new contract with Coke not too long before the sale to Cedar Fair, so it'll be interesting to find out if Cedar Fair has to continue with the contract or if it's now void that the parks been sold. The Interpreter
Good luck. Such contracts are NOT public. And regardless of that ten year contract (nice of CBS to do virtually on the way out the door, don't you think?) requires, most companies do not want to be in the nightmare of doing business with a company that doesn't want to do business with them. There are ways of fixing such things, but most involve the payment of money by someone to the party ending the relationship (sometimes even the new vendor makes that payment).... Reclaimer
Even though I'm trying not to drink soda anymore...I'd kill for a mt. dew every once in awhile while I'm at the park.
AdventureExpresser
As working in a company, which decides between the 2 major soft drink companies when our contract runs out, Coke offers alot more incentives and is cheaper product to purchase which allows you more profit to make. jzarley
All I can say is... I want my Mt. Dew at the park! Off topic (somewhat), but do you drink regular Mt. Dew or diet? The reason I ask...they changed the diet formula about a year ago (to the new "tuned up taste") and I really don't like it anymore. I was just wondering if others felt the same way... RailRider
^ Funny since they changed the Diet Mt. Dew formula I actually like it better than regular Mt. Dew now. But my favorite Mt. Dew is Baja Blast at Taco Bell. That stuff is fabulous, well Mt. Dew is fabulous in general. Sorry very off topic. Anyways I wonder if Cedar Fair would be able to honor to contract with Coke at just the old Paramount Parks and use Pepsi at Cedar Fair parks before the acquisition? Also does anyone know how much soda Holiday World goes through a year and what that costs them. Especially now that they are drawing record crowds every year do you think it will be possible for them to continue this in to the future?

My guess is they probably changed to Splenda as the artificial sweetener, which has a more natural sugar like taste, and allows the diet formula to taste more like the regular version. My problem is that I've drank diet soda for so many years that I really dislike the "real" stuff anymore. (I much prefer Diet Pepsi over Pepsi One for the same reason, and can't drink real Pepsi at all...)
mutedarkness
They just built the 3 point challange with Coke. That seems like a sign that they will keep Coke for a little bith
RailRider
^ Or they will just put a Pepsi logo over the Coke logo.
mutedarkness
Wel... I like Pepsi, but i hate seira mist. But i LOVE SPRITE! Maybe they can do something about that.
CoastersRZ
Well, technically, the three point challenge was painted with Sprite colors. And, just because they painted that with Sprite colors, doesn`t mean that they won`t repaint it with different colors for a different sponsor for this season. Personally, I prefer Coke over Pepsi. However, I will drink both products. It will be interesting to see if they switch to Pepsi, as the pre-Paramount deal parks were all strictly Pepsi parks. mutedarkness
Too many things are Pepsi. WE should have a choice.
CoastersRZ
Actually, the Skyline in Oakley serves both Pepsi and Coke products. But there is no way that Kings Island will serve both products next season. It will be one or the other.
WooferBearATL
Could be a situation similar to McDonalds. McDonald's in several locations are trying out a variety of beverage providers. It's not just a Coke or Pepsi world any more.
ZosoBeast
I would also like a Mt. Dew at the park, but if they have to keep Coke, would it hurt them to put in a Cherry Coke fountain as well!? I mean, COME ON!!!!
RailRider
Well if they keep Coke how about alteast offering some Vault. Also in the world of Mt Dew, I love the Halloween seasson because of Mt. Dew Pitch Black. I usually buy like 10 12packs to last me for awhile. Love that stuff.
Cory Butcher
Yick Vault is the nastiest thing that I have ever drank! you get three tastes with Vault, as it first enters your mouth, you taste Orange Juice, then as it moves down you get a lemon lime flavor, then your throat starts to burn, and finally you are left with this Nyquil after-taste, yick! I love Mt Dew and Pepsi Products. Problem is, I dont drink pop much anymore. But Coke does offer more incentives and a cheeper price to their carriers. mutedarkness
There is this new energy drink called Bawls and its pretty sweet it tastes like cream soda. Haha Sorry off topic.
Reclaimer
Ok, one...Bawls is nasty. lol Secondly, if they do keep Coke, I wouldn't be surprised to see Vault next season. It seems to be replacing Mellow Yellow at most every retailer I've gone to. Coke might be phasing out Mellow Yellow in favor of Vault. And someone said too many things are Pepsi. For me, I think just the opposite. Too many things are Coke. Most restaurants are Coke-only (save for the Taco Bell/KFC/Pizza Hut franchises). Paramount and Six Flags both use(d) Coke products in their parks, and most convenience stores either have both Coke and Pepsi fountains, or Coke only...I very rarely see Pepsi-only in convenience stores. Of course, there's a real good reason for Taco Bell/KFC/Pizza Hut being Pepsi brands...they were originally owned by Pepsi Co, prior to being spun off as Tricon Restaurants (later renamed Yum! Brands)
ohio1317
I really don't like seeing Vault replace Mellow Yellow. I've always very much prefered places with Pepsi fountain pop over Coke (if there cans or bottles it doesn't bother me as much), but if they had Mellow Yellow it never bothered me too much. I can't stand Vault though.

Actually, if memory serves me correctly, Mellow Yellow has already been phased out and the machines that say Mellow Yellow have been distributing Vault for a little bit now. I think it's just a matter of changing the labels on the fountains. And the whole Mt. Dew thing, I may be one of the few but I prefer Vault over Mt. Dew, even though I usually get regular Coke. I hope they keep Coke next year, it has a better more unique taste than Pepsi, as well as many other softdrinks.

Actualy, last year a few vending machines/portable stands did sell Vault. I bought a few of them . Anyways My prefered choice is Coke, but I do not despise Pepsi. If for some reason a switch would be made I wouldn't be upset. Also does anyone remember when Pepsi came out with Pepsi Blue for about 2 months? Did anyone else like that or was I the only person who did lol? -Chris
Cory Butcher
You guys are right it was last year at the start of the season that I had my very first Vault out of a vending machine back by the restrooms near FX theater. I hate the stuff. And actually it just occured to me that I didnt even want it, I had pushed the button for a bottle of water and It gave me Vault! WooferBearATL
I'd so like to see vending machines leave the park entirely. It so cheapens the environment and the experience.
Cory Butcher
Part of me agrees and the other part doesnt, I would leave only a couple, I hate the site of the things. They used to have a whole vending machine row lining a path at Columbus Zoo many years ago, they have sense done away with all of them but a handful in strategic locations. The thing I do like about them, is that I didnt feel like walking down to subway to get a bottle of water, and I didnt want any water out of the drinking fountain, so It was right there and I attempted to buy an overpriced bottle of Dasani Water to quench my thirst. Of course that ended in me getting that Vault. You are right, they are inefficient too! I just changed my mind, Take the things out! I think? Hank
Sort of off topic, but I think Holiday World used to have Mt. Dew sponsor the park and all Mt. Dew drink was free all day long. I don't know if this is still the case. I realize that HW is small compared to KI or CP, but couldn't they (CP & KI) get a sponsor too? I mean, come on - at least give something like Diet Coke away at no charge. They'd still sell tons of the other varieties.
