If they run out of space at CP they may use reclaimed land from Lake Eerie. But that would be costly, especially with the aquiring of the paramount parks. I think kjkjkj is right. They may start expanding another park, and focusing it as their main park.

Or use a small part of the current parking area for parking garages (think Universal Studios Florida or Disneyland) and use the now unused parking area for more park and rides....

I for one am a big fan of Parking garages at those parks, you dont have to walk through a desert to get to the front gates! It would be a great thing for CP and possible even KI to do sometime in the distant or for all we know close future!

you do bring up an interesting point Reclaimer...I wonder if in 70 years+ some of us will see a two-tiered amusement park...you know two-hundred foot tall coaster on the bottom then...a greatly supported roof and another two-hundred foot tall coaster on top! Ahh, you have got to love the future, with all its mystery!

A parking garage does seem to be a sensible solution, but they aren't the best looking of structures. Of course, then again parking lots aren't the best looking things as well. I could see them making a parking garage that resembled the Breakers hotel almost, that way it wouldn't look to bad. I don't know how deep lake Erie is around CP, but it seems that they could just pretty much build the station on the coast, and then the entire coaster over water. That would certainly add a thrill to a ride.

Maybe they might even construct a pier.

That would not be too new. In 1972 Disney opened Magic Kingdom on the second floor. On the first floor that is where the service area is and where they park the parade floats and where the park offices are located. The water table in that area is just a couple feet, so they had to build up and wanted all services below the park itself. So that idea is over 35+ years old

Not to mention, pier amuesment parks are really built almost on a second floor, if you will.

I'm talking a 400 foot tall structure...200 feet tall for the first floor and 200 feet on the top floor. Im simply throwing it out there, but does anyone think this will ever be achieved?

I don't see Kings Island as having that status, when Canada's Wonderland has more attendance than any of their other parks (including Cedar Point), when Knott's Berry Farm is what it is, and when they keep trumpeting the future importance of the Charlotte market at every opportunity. I see this chain as having ONE and only ONE flagship. It's in Sandusky. Make no mistake about it. The rest of the parks may all be special in their own individual ways, but there is no second flagship.

I really don't see cp running out of room, that place is pretty big, they do from time to time relocate rides within the park to make room, there is always room you just have to be creative.

I wouldn't doubt it. I mean Valleyfair! is the original Cedar Fair park behind Cedar Point.

I gotta agree with the interpreter, Cedar Fair has never flaunted valleyfair at all the way it does Cedar Point. Even when it was the two of them, expansionwise valleyfair was treated like the ******* sibling. With the addition of parks, the emphasis was still given to Cedar Point, and then sprinkeled down to the rest of the parks.

Yep. The name Cedar Fair originally referred to Cedar Point and ValleyFAIR. I doubt that even many of the analysts who closely follow the company know that these days. I also bet many on this board had never made the connection. That seems to be the chief way that Cedar Fair had recognized the park.

In all honestly, the place is about the same size as LeSourdsville Lake, and, until this year, had about the same level of development, plus Wild Thing and a Steel Venom type impulse coaster.

And, not to mention that according to AB's last published list of estimated attendance (2005), Valleyfair had less than 1M guests (980,000), so it would seem kind of odd for a park that only does 1/3 the business of KI or Wonderland to be considered a "flagship." In fact, the only parks which do lower attendance than Valleyfair in the the entire CF chain are Geauga Lake and Michigan's Adventure. (And, MiA apparently had a great year in 2006, so that might not even be the case anymore...)

They could build the parking garage next to Disaster Transport to make the garage look better.

My understanding is that CP has all kinds of land along route 2. Rumor has it, once CP needs to expand into the current parking lot (which will probably be once none of us can ever ride a coaster again), they will convert the RT. 2 land into a parking lot and use the same type of monorail system that Disney has.

And as far as hoping that KI will become the new "flagship" for CF- why does KI HAVE to be the flagship park? CF did not buy the park just to let it get run down. They made a rather heavy investment and even though KI and CP are both owned by the same company, both parks will compete for business.

Actually if anything bothers me about Cedar Fair now owning GL, CP, AND KI... and this is a very small bother, is the fact that now KI and CP arent in direct competition. Sure the inhouse crews want to one up each other and that will create excellence, but I fear there isnt much of an arms-race now. However the brighter side of this could be that we get a record breaking coaster one year CP the next, and this pattern repeats. Competition is always supposed to be good for the consumer, and now there isnt to much of it, its all in the same chain.

I do however feel that HersheyPark, SFKK, Dollywood, and KI could compete for the greatest regional destination...but will this be enough? I hope so, and perhaps it will, only time will tell!
