Browntggrr
Paramount & CF are seeking $20.8 million in court? Wow. I knew there was a substantial amount poured into the ride, I just didn't realize it was that much. If the ride had a price tag of $17 million, does that mean that over $20 million has been spent to fix it? I have to agree now, the writing is on the wall. The loop removal is only step one of a much larger project.
PKIVortex
Sounds like to me that Cedar Fair is still correcting problems faced by SOB since day one. I wouldn't doubt if these fixes don't go well, then SOB will be history as soon as 2008. Nice to know though that the park is committed in getting the ready open again. So first Dick Kinzel said by Memorial Day, and now they say sometime in June. Either way that's not far away, if it does indeed reopen that soon. stewwill
That's some serious cheese. Maybe some can go to another ride... Question. Was that 20.8 mil from the original lawsuit a few years ago or is this something new to pay for the removal of the loop, the trains and whatever repairs were necessary? I think its from the original lawsuit from the way it was written. Thats a lot of money for this ride plus what had to be fixed in the frist place. BoddaH1994
Who knows? $5 mill to fix the ride and $15 mill in damages is possible for the incident.
welchce
Wherever it goes, I'm sure that they left no small detail out of that total amount.
WooferBearATL
I'm still wondering why the park did not just dig a giant pit to be tossing the money into. At least to me, it's about the same.

As long as it would have been the world's tallest, fastest, and only looping giant money pit.

It looks and sounds to me like CF is just picking up where Paramount left off from the sale. It you read the reference in Post #1, Paramount instituted the lawsuit. Cedar Fair had nothing to do with it. Can you point to the reference of Kinzel stating Memorial Day for the reopening? I watched the video of his interview witht the Cleveland Plain Dealer. I don't recall any reference to an opening date for SOB. He DID say that Firehawk would open Memorial Day. I would just like to know the source for your information PKI. The Assistant Manager, I believe that is what the article said, is the one that said "sometime in June". Not Kinzel.

PKIVortex
The source was in an interview by Mr. Kinzel, I posted the question regarding SOB in a thread titled new SOB info. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9565 There is the link, read the first post. Browntggrr
I think its from the original lawsuit from the way it was written. Thats a lot of money for this ride plus what had to be fixed in the frist place. I was confused about this as well. It sounds as if it is the original suit, but CF was not a plaintiff in the original suit. Unless there is some type of legal jargon that deals with the sale of the park which then names CF automatically with the sale. Any corporate attornys out there?
