  1. Today
  2. I, personally, wouldn't do that. I'll post it here; I know park employees have a working familiarity of the posts that show up on this site. I'll post pictures here and give someone who works "back stage" a chance to address. I don't have an ax to grind with KI, SF, etc... just want them to do better! And, while I'm at it- REPLACE THE BURNT OUT BULBS LINING THE BUILDINGS ON I-STREET
  3. @Outdoor Man, Skyline could know if you posted the photo on their social pages.
  4. I agree. Guests are gross. People do things at the park that they would NEVER do anywhere else. That said, there's no discipline in keeping areas clean by employees either. I mean, does Skyline know one of their locations has a serving area that looks like this? I agree with Don; Kings Island was a near-benchmark of cleanliness for YEARS; one season changed that perception.
  5. Behind and on the counter is on the employees 100%. Tables, floors etc are still on the employees, but as @Hawaiian Coasters 325said, patrons should do their part and clean up after themselves. You can say what you want about the under 18 children, but this entitlement rears it's ugly head up to the boomers. And it's not isolated to KI, look at hotel room check outs, restaurants and shopping carts. It's all pure laziness. In 2020 and 2021, I would had much more empathy for things like this . But those years are way behind and the company wants to lean staff and make the parks "comfortably (very) crowded."
  6. Via Marcus Leshock in Facebook: BREAKING: “Multiple bomb threats” reported at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California this morning. The California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a threat that indicated a bomb was allegedly placed at a specific location within the park, according to CBS News. Magic Mountain was scheduled to open at 10:30am local time, but it’s unclear if that will happen. Magic Mountain released a statement: “We are aware of the police activity near the park and are currently monitoring the situation in coordination with local authorities.” In their own post, the CHP said: “Magic Mountain Amusement Park entrance will be shut down as CHP works with LASO after receiving multiple bomb threats at the park.” At this time, it isn’t clear if the threat is credible.
  7. That's not acceptable and the fact employees in uniform were around just yapping and not doing anything about it makes it worse! Those employees need to be disciplined! When I worked there ride ops weren't allowed to leave at the end of the night until the entire perimeter of our ride area was clear of any trash or debris. And the area supervisors would hold cleaning audits after park close and if they found just one little candy wrapper, your ride crew failed! Cleanliness was one of the major cornerstones when I worked there and I hope it still is! I think the park needs to have this brought to their attention as I know upper management does not tolerate stuff like this. I know someone last year posted a massive rant on a facebook group of Festhaus being filthy and not long after they brought people over to clean it. We know the park reads the facebook groups. Also I think guests need to take a part in this too. When you're done eating, clean up after yourselves and throw your trash away!
  8. RCDB now lists Invertigo as SBNO since July of last year.
  9. If I were to do a piece on the 10 dirtiest parks in the amusement and theme park industry, Kings Island makes the list. It’s sad because for decades it was among the top 10 cleanest parks.
  10. Also, I'm CPI trained and on our Crisis Response Team. I've dealt with kids in their most extreme and difficult moments. I work in a school currently that has the wealthiest families per capita and they have the exact same issues I had in the school with Title I funding for being the highest poverty school per capita. Sure, there are times poor parenting is to blame for student struggles, but that is not the case most of the time. From my 15 years of experience working hands on with children. Now, when I was an intake officer and licensed probation officer working at the juvenile detention center, many of those kids had difficult family situations, but that is a very small percentage of the youth population being arrested and brought to the detention center. I would not extrapolate the issues I saw at the detention center to the regular issues happening in schools and the like.
  11. I'm a special ed teacher. I've worked in both elementary schools and high schools for closing on 15 years now.
  12. The park NEEDS to address this. This is horrible, terrible, gross. What's worse is that while enjoying our Skyline, no fewer than 4 employees in Supervisor attire were nearby standing, talking, walking by, etc... addressed nothing. I didn't take a picture of the Brew House mens room... which I felt like my hands would have been cleaner had I NOT washed them. Water all over the floor.
  13. Yesterday
  14. I'm hoping that food lines will be less extreme as more associates come in after schools let out. A lot of people said that yesterday was a wash for Cedar Point because their operations were insanely bad, but I feel like they really just experienced a slightly worse Opening Day than normal. Should they be able to get everything done during the off season and have it all running in May? Yes, but I also don't think that would necessarily improve the food lines or the nightmare that was the VIP lounge. (At this point I really think the park should consider rebuilding the DA! bridge and turning the Forbidden Frontier space into a giant outdoor VIP Lounge.) I think it's good that the All-Season Fast Lane is starting to sell out at each park. Leaving it up and available all season isn't great IMO. Hopefully we will also see the total number of daily Fast Lane pass sales reduced.
  15. The associate at the register told us to put it on the sticker when he handed it to us. I think your experience might've just been someone forgetting to say it since those are new.
  16. Yes. Must be new wheels.
  17. It tested yesterday as well. Have you noticed how quiet it is?
  18. It would certainly be at least 2027 or 2028 before I think KI even attempts to do a big coaster again. I might be biased cause I recently went to Disney World, but I absolutely loved the Tron motorbike format ride that they had there. It was a great experience and honestly would love to see something in the same format at KI. Maybe themed around A safari adventure tour gone wrong that you're trying to 'race' out of. Ties into Adventure Express, The Racer, and The Beast nearby in a way. Honestly if nothing else, I would just like to see some small upgrades overall in the park. I would love if thee was more theming in the ques for rides throughout the park. I was reading where they said this has been done for the new phantom theater ride, and I think it would be cool if we could implement more que theming/staff staging at rides. Flight of Fear's still holds up IMO, Orion is decent-ish.
  19. One has to wonder when the lines out queues for food and Fast Lane will have an impact that can't be written off as a weather variable. I know many people that forego their 2nd meal because the lines are just too long and said this is the last year they get meal plans. I know many have said the Fast Lane lines are too long and they won't renew Fast Lane next year. Yet, we hear this every year, and the majority of those same people end up renewing anyway. And until that changes, the value of the product being offered will continue to erode. All season Fast Lane just sold out at Kings Island, so the trend continues.
  20. Invertigo is testing this morning however they still have the ride will not operate today sign up.
  21. Had the breakfast sandwich with the potatoes at French Corner yesterday and am going back this morning. It's fantastic! Kudos to the culinary team on this one. Definetly worth trying.
  22. I noticed those also, the only problem is they don't make it clear to put the puck on the sticker. Maybe I missed something but it wasn't very intuitive that i had to do it. I'm pretty sure it works off the sticker and it's more of a way to have the server know where to look for it.
  23. Double posting because I'm full of ideas I'll just put this out there: assuming there won't be a major attraction next year, 2027 would be a great year for Kings Island to finally receive a non-coaster focused front gate renovation! It could also be a good year to update some more signage around the park and/or to bring back some unique looking signage to the park. I'd love to see the old height signs and some of the green text on a cream background signs make a return. A new event would also be nice. Will any of this happen? Probably not. All of the Opening Day footage I've seen so far from Cedar Point makes it look like they really only got a renovated restroom in Frontier Trail and a new pass-through between the Pagoda Gift Shop/Sweet Spot/Peanuts at The Point (oh, and some new anti-Vortex shearing stuff on TT2). I hope Kings Island would advocate for a larger renovation or a new restaurant if it's set to be an off-year, but who knows what will happen at this point.
  24. Last week
  25. When you try to place an order, it will tell you sorry not available.
  26. Yesterday I had my eighth meal of the season at the Miami River Brewhouse. I got a Pub Burger and a Coca-Cola (with ice) using my meal/drink plan. It was a decent meal, though I rated it as being on the lower end of "good" (4/5 stars on my meal plan scale). The tater tots could've been cooked a little better. I think they might've also changed the bun? It was hard to tell, but it didn't look like the same flavor/brand of bun as I've had previously. The service was very good and they had the associates calling out the order puck number when they brought each tray of food out. I didn't pay too close of attention to it but I did also think the metal tray looked/felt different. Something interesting we saw was that the Brewhouse has new order locator pucks! The old ones had the sticker with a number on top and just buzzed when your order was ready. The new ones have a digital number display on one side and there is now a sticker on each table that you're supposed to put the locator on. It seems to be nicer than the old system, but we'll have to see how it works out over time. I did my daily check of whether or not mobile ordering is available and it was for Rivertown Potato Works and at least one more dining location. We didn't get too far into that menu since we'd already gotten in line for the Brewhouse, but I'd be curious to know how well it works and if you can order your drink in the same transaction. Kings Island definitely still needs to implement the order number system and install order number screens outside of each location though.
  27. My new theory for the feet behind the curtain is that it’s meant to open to reveal a pair of disembodied legs that allude to the sawing in half trick (either being implied to be Larry’s or just another random characters). On the call board there’s a note from Houdelini asking for a new assistant for his trick, so maybe this calls forward to this? I lean towards this being a broken effect since the air blast seems out of place, and I think the legs peeking out is too subtile of a detail compared to where they hide small gags in the rest of the ride.
  28. My understanding is it was the conflict of Nickelodeon Universe and Scooby Doo that made the dark ride part of I-Street. Likely, to avoid future issues, it just never changed.
