  1. Huh? Now if that is not a confusing and contradictory sentence, I don`t know what is. It is wrong. Granted, KI`s attendance may be slightly lower than laster year (or it could be higher, we will never know for sure as Cedar Fair does not break out attendance by park anymore) but the way the article was written was very poor. It made it seem like Kings Island`s attendance was down 5%, when in actuality, that 5% dip was across the entire twelve amusement park chain. Just a slight difference in scales there. Sorry if I confused you. What I meant is that even though the article IS using the facts wrong, I am GUESSING that Kings Island's attendance IS PROBABLY down like the article states...but we do not know the percentage. Also, to play Devil's Advocate, Kings Islands attendance could be down MORE than 5% but since it was averaged out over the 12 parks we will never know. But that is just MY opinion, and you know what they say about opinions...
  2. A little hick-town in Illinois...be glad you're not me!
  3. The article may technically be wrong...but in the end I would say that it is probably correct. I think gas prices are going to take it's toll on all kinds of entertainment this summer. I live far away from the park, but I USUALLY make it to the park about 5 times a year. I have been once this year, at that point in time gas cost me over $80.00 to get there and back...that will slow me down this year. I really wanted one of the Firehawk First Rider shirts but at that time gas was at an all time high around here ($3.59 for regular un-leaded) I could not justify spending that much money...the shirt would not be "free"! I have a season pass, but it will not be used as much this year unless things change...but from what I have been hearing on the news it will more likely only get worse.
  4. To determine how many people think of the train as a ride and how many people just think of it as transportation to Boomerang Bay. MAYBE (and it's a big maybe) that if they see that more people ride it just for the enjoyment they might add some scenery elements. They would not have to spend a lot...one of our kids favorite things is looking for the bear...how much can things like that cost?!
  5. I think it is debateable whether the train is used more for transportation to Boomerang Bay or as just a ride. A lot of little kids like trains...on our last trip to the park we rode the train about 8 times because of my Nephew...we did not go to Boomerang Bay. Also, I can remember SEVERAL times in the past years when we were either going to or leaving Boomerang Bay that we would just opt to walk instead of waiting for the train to save time. Maybe the park should do a survey.
  6. Maureen, Wow! This is a shock...I was so glad that you "survived" when CP took over, and now you're leaving us anyway! I "only" got to meet you about 5 times but it was always great when I did. You put a "face" to the park. As everyone has already said, you will be missed. Good Luck in the future, J.D. aka Little Simon at Beastbuzz's Uncle P.S. My sister is expecting her second child and was looking forward to hanging out with you again at this year's Ace Fearfest event...she will be dissapointed when I tell her the news. P.P.S. Any old parking signs you wanna get rid of before you leave just let me know!
  7. You might have an area where random photos of a kid and one of the walkaround Nick characters are featured...it would show a photo and say something like "Cindy Age 8 from Nashville, TN with Spongebob"...you could pretend that either the park supplied them or the parents sent them in. (Kind of like the birthday greetings feature that the Noggin TV channel has.)
  8. My question would be, if the "above and beyond" information is actually "newsworthy" why would it be held back for the newsletter instead of posting it for everyone...seems a little elitist. I prefer to think that EVERYTHING that IS newsworthy I can find right on the site...and not "held back" a day or so.
  9. PKIAH, Thanks for taking the time to post...it is very interesting stuff. My family personally just rides the train to relax...so hopefully it will be around a long time. Also thanks for the link to the pictures...I have always been curious what it looks like in the "barn". (It's a lot more modern looking than I suspected from the outside.) I have 2 questions that I have...but don't get into any trouble if you can't answer either of them. #1. I noticed in the photos a desk with a lot of paperwork...is there really that much paperwork involved with running a train?!! #2. The watertower...I have never personally seen the train using it, but my sister says she has. My question is, does the train really get water from it, and also, if so, i'm guessing that it is just a "fake" tower with a pipe/plumbing running thru it...am I correct? Sorry if they're stupid questions, but once again thanks for posting. See ya, J.D.
  10. Being "just" a visitor to the park, I do feel that if I have the right to praise what the park does that I like, I certainly should be able to "whine" when they do something I don't...but who knows...maybe I assume too much! I have always felt that constructive criticism is good.
  11. I was never unhappy with Paramount...I think they did a good job running the park. I would say that the 2 most important additions that they made for me were Delirium & Fearfest. The park did not HAVE to jump on board with a Halloween event...so I am glad that they did. Fearfest is the highlight of my year at the park. P.S. It IS nice to see a thread that is not negative.
  12. The cabins were only $60.00 a night. (Which was the cost for 4 people) They claimed it was $5.00 extra per person, but each time I would tell them that we had a person or so extra they said not to worry about it...so that meant $60.00 for 5-6 people...plus you could also set up a tent outside at no charge...so then you can add all of those people in for nothing. If you stayed in a tent in a spot WITH an electrical hook-up, that cost was $35.00...I believe it was around $20.00 for a non-electrical campsite. I have not found a hotel that cheap...but if you know of one let me know. (Plus you even got shuttle service back-and-forth to the park.)
  13. To each their own...I thought they were a lot of fun...in fact I inquired about buying one of them when it was announced they were closing the campground...I was told that there "were already plans for them". I am still curious where they ended up.
  14. Good luck...let us know how it turns out.
  15. I hope I live that long...those will be good times!
  16. Wow! Thanks for letting us know...now how about some campground info! (See, no mater how much you give, someone always wants more.)
  17. This is a more direct link: http://spongebob.lego.com/en-US/TravelingA...travelvote.aspx
  18. So lets see...I not only voted in our state elections today but also for Spongebob...it's a sad statement when I feel like my vote counts more in the Spongebob contest than in the "real" elections. Good Luck Luke!
  19. Very nice photos...it seems like you did have a great October...you must have made quite an impression on them.
  20. This response may not thrill you...but at least it is honest...I am also curious if I am the only one like this...I probably only visit the "main" site about once a month, if that. It seems like I get all the news I need here on the forums...and it seems like by the time it is on the main page it is kinda old news because people are usually talking about it here in the forums before "it" happens. The same goes for pictures, someone always posts a link and I just go from here to the pictures. I do think it is great that the main site exists...but i'm curious if the only people who use it are "newbies"? Am I the only one like this?
  21. Thanks for the reply...the color scheme of the new board doesn't bother me...I just hate that you actually have to READ (God forbid) where a new post is instead of looking for a darker color where that @ symbol is. Other than that I have no complaint with the current set-up.
  22. Are there still different skins to choose from? (I have not been able to find them if there are.)
  23. Hauntguy, I can't say as I can blame the park for firing you, especially since they are probably shorthanded...but it is still too bad. You did a great job. Good luck on coming back next year. P.S. I will add that was very mature of you to "fess-up" about being fired instead of trying to hide it.
  24. I would say Asylum & Massacre Manor would be my first 2 choices for "scary"...although none of them are really scary. I also like the3-D Circus...it's always a fun time. You should try & judge the line...none of the haunts are worth more than an hour, hour & a half wait in my opinion. If the lines are worse than that you are better off riding rides and enjoying the decorations...and of course "The Undertaker" up at the entrance. And to prove that everyone has different opinions, I personally think Headless Hollow is pretty worthless. Hope you have a good time.
