  1. http://www.themeparkbrochures.com/misc/builders.html http://www.themeparkbrochures.com/mainmaps.html Try those links out for a great site I just found... I haev never seen a link for it on this site, but if it is a repeat, I'm sorry.
  2. Hey all! I just found a great site that has old brochures for PKI and other parks. It's pretty cool! Check it out... http://www.themeparkbrochures.com/main.html#1982 The site also has some other cool information in it... here is the home page just incase the other link gets changed for whatever reason. http://www.themeparkbrochures.com/misc/builders.html
  3. Wish I could have been there, I had papers to give to Italian Chef and I really wanted to tell Ryan hi and happy birthday... It's great to be 21! Maybe I will be able to get with you guys if you do decide to get together again. I'm busy with a new business and trying to finish college and get a coop job and, of course, getting ready for PKI. I need more time!
  4. I wonder where they keep the master plan? I'm sure it's someplace interesting, like a hidden compartment in the admin building or something. J/K. I know i have never seen anything like it... of course I don't really go looking for it. It would be cool to have a job like Jeff's and know what is in store for the future of the park. Then again, he is in marketing, so he knows how to handle information and people and he could really know nothing and just be blowing smoke...
  5. Tower John (or Johnny) is the legit legend name. Anyway, another overused topic! Do people not read the past posts? Wow... I think PKIC needs to hook up with Google to create a powerful searchable forum. Of course, I think you can already do searches on these forums... if so then newbies should use them and add to the topics already posted or something... Oh yeah, THE PARK IS HAUNTED! I belive it very much... of course it could all be in my head. As of seeing photos of it... sounds like a cool photoshop project to me!
  6. Wow, much overused topic... change the channel! QUICK!
  7. There is nothing more annoying than Lucky Striker screaming that out into the night when the park is closed and there is no one around. You can hear it on the other side of the park for crying out loud! Hmm... something I hear everyday... "I lost my baby!" Of course "baby" can be filled in with "friend", "husband", "wife", "kids" and a slew of other things.
  8. YEAH! I might have to make a road trip just to ride it! I LOVE Star Trek! I really, really, want to have an ST theme ride at PKI. As long as they do a great job on themeing it should be worth it!
  9. I was just saying that even if the park did update the paint job and the decor for Timberwolf, that it would still be trashed by the guests and the park would still have to redo it every year. Maybe we should up the prices of the tickets some more to pay for the costs of the new benches after all the events b/c the guets are too stupid not to follow the rules.
  10. It's under the Group Sales special interest page... link below Here is the link
  11. Greek Weekend at the park April 17th and 18th... I wonder how busy we will be? I don't remember the park doing this as leas the last two years. Oh well... I'm thinking it's going to be a very, very, long weekend. Does anyone plan on going? Has anyone heard of this on a campus yet? I haven't see anything at UC about it... maybe the park isn't really pushing it yet? The PKI site says more info will come out this month, so I guess we'll see a comercial or two about it. *shrug*
  12. Okay, my two cents about Timberwolf: Even if the park did a nice upgrade to it, the place would still be trashed at the end of major concerts and events. Most of the time it's the guests fault that the place looks as crappy as it does. The benches have been replaced with brand new ones often b/c people keep breaking them by standing up on them, jumping on them and whatever else they decide to do that they are not supposed to do on them. We do our best to tell them not too, but then we get f*cking screamed at by the guests when we ask them to get down. Cheerleaders are the worst... they are horrible! I have never had such a bad experience at the park until that weekend. The people are mean and nasty and can't see past their own noses. They could care less about the rules and less about any other person but themselves, their precious cheerleaders. They trash Timberwolf too, none of them know how to throw things away. I might have seen one filled garbage can in the entire theater and there was literally a foot of trash in the theater at the end of the event almost every night. I mean, come on people! It would be great for the park to upgrade Timberwolf, especially the stage and the seating (stadium style would be awesome). I too have heard that we are getting a lot more shows in the theater this year. That would be great. The only thing I would really stress would be to follow the rules and not b*tch at the ushers or security when they ask you to do something simple like get off the benches!
  13. I heard that we were supposed to get a paint job for the tower this year. This might have been pushed back, however. I think it does need a new paint job. The color is actually called "Eifel Tower Green" or "Eifel Tower Blue". You can actually buy that color from one of the suppliers, Oakly Paint and Glass.
  14. Cars can be towed after a day or two of being on property without anyone letting the park know that it is broken down. Cars are towed at the owners expense. The signs are posted in the passenger drop off area that state the rules. Security does keep track of vehicals left in the lot (passenger drop off and the park and ride). If you do need help with you vehical and you happen to be at the drop off area, you can always use one of the blue emergancy phones to contact security. They will help you out as much as they can, even calling in a tow truck, locksmith, or by contacting someone from maintenice if they are on property at the time. Security is in the park 24/7 365 and we do patrol the entire grounds.
  15. I heard that ride operators must be 18 this year. I will try and find out when I get back to the park for returner training and the meet and greet with the new officers. Also, if you are looking for a cool job, you can always be an officer! It sounds like it might be boring (and you'll be called a rent-a-cop a ton of times) but the pay is great and you get to do a lot. They aren't hiring a lot of new officers this year, so you would have to apply pretty fast. Another great place to work would be entertainment. They get to be the ushers for the Timberwolf concerts and the other shows that they put on. If you like to sing and dance, they can hire you for that as well for our own shows. Odds are most of the performers have already been hired for next year... if someone else on the forums works entertainment, they can tell you more.
  16. Well, if you think about it, have you ever been to the park when it is raining outside? They don't cover the rides up for that. Coasters are made to be outdoors, so they are protected against the weather. Maintence crews check the coasters constanly during the season, and during the off season all of the trains are taken off the of the tracks and sometimes part of the tracks are covered up (depending on what type of work they are doing in that section like retracking). You won't find all the rides plastic wrapped against weather in the off season.
  17. *cough* Yes they will *cough* Sometime next year? Hmm... one can hope... if not then in 05.
  18. Since I don't ride any of the rides, I have to say atmosphere, b/c I'm there all day anyway when I am there. Hopefully it will be better this year, I couldn't get over the stinch that was always around the pathway between sidewinder and helix! It always made me sick!
  19. Well, Festhaus has part of the stage left... the one behind the center screen. The main stage used to be in the area that was under the screens. That stage has been gone for years. I don't care if they bring that back or not, but what they really need to work on in Festhaus is the projectors for the screens, they are just too dark and you can barely see them. Also, I think the park should go for more themeing, something more elaborate for each part of the park that would make it even more unique. Bring back individual uniforms for each area and stuff. Yeah, that would make it hard for the employees that "float" but as long as the float in the same area, it wouldn't be a big deal. I HATE SOB. That was the worst excuse of a roller coaster. I could care less how much they say they are going to work on it, it will still suck. I'm never riding it again and I think people that would wait any amount of time for that ride should just go ride something else. I think the park needs to do more for the lines as well. The Vortex line for example is a pain to watch over b/c there is so much line jumping over that little fence. The entrances of the lines need something more to block them off during closing so that people don't just walk around a garbage can to get into line. I kick so many people out of ride line after it has been shut down for the evening and the ride line blocked and they end up in the station anyway. Tuff luck! The ride line was closed, get out!
  20. Well, the bad thing about steel coaster is that they do have a life time. Woodies can be worked on and pieces replaced and stuff, for steels that is much harder. I would guess in the next 10 years that Vortex will be removed just b/c of the age and the natural wear on the coaster.
  21. Good question. Sounds like someone should call up Jeff to see. I would image that since the actual acerage is around 760, that the 300 and some odd developed would include the parking lot, but not the campground. At least, they should be direct with the guest by saying the actual acerage of the theme park itself (including the backstage areas). The parking lot is huge, about a mile long. I forget the actual size of the camp ground, and as CoasterRZ said already, the conference center is not owned by PKI.
  22. Photo Caption: From Left to right: The Mayor of Mason, John McCurley, Congressman Rob Portman, Neil Armstrong, Steve Osborn (Chair of the fundraising committee), and PKI's own Craig Ross. Paramount's Kings Island donated $30,000 to the Memorial fund. The memorial's total cost was $600,000.
  23. Yeah, I thought Steven was crazy for taking off his shoes and socks... oh well, when they got off stage they had towles waiting for the band and a towle on the ground for Steven to stand on. They are great guys, I got to hang out with them from 3 till midnight. Great show, but I'm sure it sounded better from the front. I don't know why people are so enthused about being backstage? The show sounds funny and you can't really see anything. Oh well. I still had a blast.
  24. Actually, uniforms are employee's responsiblity now... at least for Security. We get issued a certain number of uniforms (just 3 sets) and we have to wash them and stuff. The normal white and blue shirts you see are mailed out to the employees before they start work. If they didn't get them in the mail before they started work, they had to wear their own cloths (solid white shirts) to work. Security patrols the entire theme park and the surrounding park grounds 24/7 365. I have never really experienced anything strange during my shifts in the off season, but working midnights or even lates in the winter are strange. Your imagination runs wild sometimes and when the occasional racoon jumps out of a garbage can when you are walking by, it scares the sh*t out of you. The only thing that really had me worried for a few seconds was hearing gun shots in the woods when I was patroling. The park hires hunters with a nusience license to come into the park during the off season to hunt. Well, I wasn't told that they were on the property when I started my shift and when I was driving along the access road and heard the shots, I got a little worried. A few seconds later I drove past their vehical, so I knew it was them. Oh, I love it when people in the middle of the night think they can cut through our parking lot. What a laugh! They drive up the employee entrance and find their way into the employee lot and get stuck b/c of the fences. So they turn around, but instead of leaving, they go down the full time access road which leads to Post Three and find that we have our electronic fence and they can't get in, so they drive up the VIP parking lot and into the main lot and drive around all confussed as to how to get out. It's a hoot... people are stupid. We sometimes have to drive out and flash our lights and escourt them off property. The fountains do shut off, they usually wait till the front gates are closed and then it's just whenever someone gets around to it. They are always off when I get to work and they start up sometimes right before the park opens. It depends on what's going on and if the foutain has something wrong with it. It gets inspected as well, but I'm not sure how often.
  25. Actually there were three benches that were broken... and people wonder why we tell them not to stand on the benches... at least I didn't hear of anyone getting hurt. Like I said in another post... I enjoy that day a lot because I got to hang around the band all day. Pretty nice guys...
