  1. I dont think Action Theater has been open the past few times I've been to KI. I googled just for a few minutes last night wondering what was actually occupying it now, and it mentioned a movie about dinosaurs? I'm going to assume it's gone by now? I really hope that the building becomes occupied soon. A new 5D movie would be a great air conditioned addition to the park. There isn't a current attraction in Action Theater right now....one side is occupied by a haunt. I can honestly say, I was not a huge fan at all of how the attraction was after Sponge Bob! I never rode Spongebob, but I really dislike unused space. I'm sure there's got to be a generic movie they could put in it's spot.

  3. That's happened to me the last two times I've been to the park on The Beast. I could see them closing the booth the first time because I had went on a big school day, but the last time was at the end of June. Seemed pretty silly to me to have the camera's off.
  4. Really hoping with it's Omni mover system, which has good capacity, they don't change that aspect and keep it as a dark ride. But with it's location and the new movie coming out this fall, I am hoping they make it into a classic dark ride themed to Peanuts. And then get a Voyage tot he Iron Reef style interactive dark ride over where Action Theater was. Would be great to have two dark rides in the park, and only need to have one be interactive so be nice to have one in Planet Snoopy that is a classic omnimover dark ride. Peanuts is one that I think could be done well but on a budget too. They aren't very detailed cartoons so could do pretty basic characters and backgrounds and have it looks true to the art. I love the omnimover system and hope it stays as well. I feel like it really keeps the line moving fairly quickly.
  5. I thought that was in poor taste of the park, and honestly could have been an easy way to save some money. I haven't been in-the-loop on KK, and had wondered if it was the same tower from before. I figured it wouldn't be, but it had crossed my mind. EDIT: I had posted that I felt like the park had too many flat rides, and when I looked at their website again, it didn't look like it was as many as I originally thought. However, I noticed big letters across the top of the website saying that they will be open this weekend.
  6. The only part of Vortex painted recently was the running rails. That was in 2009. Last major repaint was in 2001 the year I was on the crew. All I know is the view of The Vortex from The Beast's queue is really pitiful. Especially the purple support beams, in my opinion. I've never even noticed Adventure Express had paint on it. It always looked like wood to me but I haven't paid too much attention.
  7. Having a ride inspected weekly isn't even a choice on Roller Coaster Tycoon. Why in the world would that be appropriate in real life? Please tell me you're being sarcastic with that remark. All parks (except KK as we're finding out) inspects all their rides each day. Yes, all the coasters have the entire length of track walked and checked. RCT isn't something to infer information on how real parks operate. You should really read the rest of the thread to get more info on KK's situation. Many people want the park to succeed. Its their own actions that warrant worry. They continually do things that set the park up for failure, at the expense of the Commonwealth's taxpayers no less. Government has no business running amusement parks. I was completely joking. I know that RCT isn't really how parks operate. I'm in KY, and haven't been able to make it to KK since the park reopened. I would love to see the park succeed, because I really would like to have a closer theme park. However I've always wondered why the park isn't advertised much in my area. hmm...
  8. Always wondered if it was just me that noticed that.
  9. ugh. They may as well go ahead and play "Highway to the Dangerzone"
  10. Sorry the image is so large, I dunno how to scale it down! Anyways, it's tough to tell. Personally, I think it looks like it's a part of the children's area. The entrance is facing the area, the ride next door is apart of the Peanut theme. I completely agree...it's very inconsistent!

  12. I'm actually from Kentucky, and have never gone to Kentucky Kingdom before in my life. Is it honestly worth it? I had looked at the rides listed on the website, and wasn't too impressed just because I felt there were too many flat rides for my taste. I haven't read the full 155 pages in this topic, but just glancing at the first page and the last page-- it seems like there's been a very negative response to the park. I really would like to see the park succeed. I feel KY really needs a great park, but I always wondered if KY Kingdom was just too close to King's Island and Holiday World to be really successful.
  13. I completely agree. The ride is ALWAYS crowded when I've been there. I never considered it being low capacity until I joined the forum, but it's a great ride for families and coaster lovers. There's a few different spots in the ride where I can picture it being a great photo op.
  14. Whoops, I should have been more clear. I never actually realized there were more than two in that area. Never noticed the other one. I thought he had mentioned something about the Haunt, but I was hoping that I had just misheard him. *sigh* Personally, I think that's an absolute waste of space then. Glad though that they saved the Wizard of Oz coin pushers though! I might have to go check them out next weekend.
  15. Totally agree, the paint is faded badly in a number of places. The whole thing needs some work. I actually like the ride but they need to keep it looking nice. If it's going to be a ride that stays promoted through tee shirts, advertisements, etc... the ride should look nice. It's pretty lazy looking to me when it starts looking lousy and they don't fix it in the off season. I'd much rather come back to the park, see no "new" stuff, but see the rides they currently have being in a nice condition. Also, while we're at it, has anyone noticed if they've fixed the queue line's paint for The Bat? Last season, the stars from when it was still Top Gun were over the little bridge in the queue line. It looked bad to me.
  16. Question... And this may just be me... Does anyone else think that The Vortex needs a little TLC? Last year, when the coaster was actually open, the ride was as loud as The Beast and I noticed how faint the paint was looking.
  17. I noticed in an opening day video that the arcade near The Racers was closed. Has anyone heard what would be done with the building?
  18. I had never really ridden the big coasters until I went to King's Island when I was 12 with my sister. That day I rode The Beast, The Vortex, and The Racers...but then we got in a fight in line for Flight of Fear and she made us leave... But I digress... Anyways, I would have never imagined before then that I'd get on an upside down roller coaster. Granted, I haven't ridden it since because it still frightened me some. But I got to check something off my list!
  19. It really just sticks out in Planet Snoopy, and not in a good way. Officially, Boo Blasters is NOT part of Planet Snoopy, and is not listed as such in the "Rider Height Guide" column on the back of the park map. It is officially located on International Street, despite the fact that its entrance is physically in Planet Snoopy and its operators wear Planet Snoopy uniforms. That's really...awkward. *sigh* Hopefully within a few years, they'll improve this ride. You know, I'm not crazy about what's actually in the ride, but even if they just fixed the shooting system...I'd be okay. It's nice and air conditioned so I appreciate that much.
  20. Very true. It makes sense on rides like The Bat and Adventure Express. But I could never quite figure out why The Beast's booth would be closed. The last few times I've been there, the amount of guests in line was insane. Seems like somebody would want a picture. I was also feeling the same way about BLSC, but then I realized that the line for that's probably long due to it's slow loading time.
  21. Aw, man...this kind of bums me out! I had actually wanted my picture on The Beast but the last few times I've been-- the booth has been closed. EDIT: Out of curiosity, why do they generally take cameras off on rides? Do they just get old and they don't want to replace them?
  22. I'd love to see another dark ride. Personally, I would love to see more themed rides added. Like roller coasters and flat rides are great, but they always feel semi generic to me.
  23. Last summer, I went to KI and was surprised that I really couldn't find many working photo ops. I'm a little more chicken and haven't ridden some of the big coasters like Banshee and Diamondback yet, but I figured at least that The Beast would have a camera. I know I've seen a photo of my friends on Backlot Stunt Coaster a few years ago. I'm returning next weekend and was curious where are the working photo ops on the rides?
  24. Thanks Interpreter! I've been a lurker on the forums for a few years and finally decided to join! It really just sticks out in Planet Snoopy, and not in a good way.
